I turned my bed into a boat. Let's go!
My foot while dirt biking. I have to get a mild surgery tomorrow.
The doctor said this. You're going to need to take the recovery very seriously.
You're going to need to be in bed 24 to 48 hours after this.
I don't want to be stuck inside, so I'm going to be turning my bed into a speedboat.
But surgery is tomorrow, so I only have about 20 hours to get this done. Let's go.
My plan is to combine a boat with a jet ski and a bed.
So I went on Amazon and I found this dinghy for sale,
and I think this would be the perfect place to start.
Luckily, Amazon has super fast shipping, so my package should be here in about three, two, one.
Okay, well, that was super fast. Hopefully it's not damaged,
but let's open this thing up and let's get started.
We got the dinghy inflated, and it looks like this is going to be perfect.
Now we need the jet ski.
Now we just got to get this jet ski into the garage to keep on building.
This thing's 100 horsepower, but good thing it's light enough to pick up.
Okay, it's actually kind of heavy. Oh, gosh. Okay, it's heavier than I thought.
But this is what we're going to need to power my bed,
because I do not want to be stuck in my room during beautiful weather like this.
Now we got to bring this jet ski over to our garage.
This is where we're going to be unloading it and starting the build of my new bed.
Now we need to get the jet ski to fit in this little dinghy,
so we're going to need to do some custom modifications.
All the way down.
Oh, wow. This is actually...
This is either going to fit perfectly, or it's not going to work at all.
I'll be stuck in my room for the next two days.
Subscribe for good luck. I'm going to need to
not actually cut the manifold at all, and to carefully, like, razor blade.
I'd be awfully hesitant to put a razor blade anywhere near that.
Look at that. We have a patch kit.
A little bit of glue, a little bit of a patch, max horsepower five.
So I think 100 should be okay.
This is your classic. You got to un-dingy the dinghy.
We're popping the dinghy.
This is the most difficult part. I need to be very careful with this razor blade
to remove the bulkhead. One false move and the whole thing will pop.
Painstakingly, we got it out.
The jet ski should just fit right in, and hopefully we're done.
We de-boated the boat.
Moment of truth. Let's see if the jet ski fits in our dinghy.
Oh, my goodness.
My goodness. This might be perfect.
We still need to build the platform, but the way this is going to look
is you're not going to stand up and ride it like you do the stand-up jet ski,
but we are going to have a bed platform that sits above everything,
so you can tuck yourself in, still have the controls,
and sit back and relax while I'm going to be in bed while my foot continues to heal.
Time is still ticking down to my surgery, so we got to move quickly.
The next steps are to cut a bunch of different pieces of wood
so we can frame out what the bed is going to be sitting on.
And of course, we got to build a bunch of gussets.
Okay, now that is a gusset.
And soon enough, the bed boats started to take shape and really start coming together.
Guys, I'm really starting to think this might actually work.
It's finally taking form.
Now you guys get an idea of what it's going to feel like to be able to lay in bed
with pillows, have this underneath the blankets,
pull it up, kick it into gear, and start this thing.
And so we're ripping down the water.
I'll have my foot elevated like this.
We're going to be jet skiing all weekend long.
But we got to finish first because surgery is coming up.
Running out of time.
Oh, my goodness.
Something is going on.
It is so loud.
I got to see what's going on.
We're getting hit by something.
Yeah, it sounds pretty loud.
Oh, boy.
Oh, gosh.
Well, I sure hope this doesn't happen when my jet ski boat is on the lake
because this is going to be miserable.
And I'm not going to be able to get my foot wet.
I really hope this clears up.
It is pouring.
And with some final touches to make this thing look like a comfortable bed,
we are finally done.
Let's tuck myself into bed underneath the control stick.
Oh, this is so good.
It's a little lumpy, but then I can...
Good morning.
It's time to go for a jet ski rip.
Let's go.
Now it is time to get the bed boat onto the lake.
It doesn't have wheels, so we're going to have to lift it.
It might be super heavy, but we'll find out.
We lifted, but I don't think the jet ski left the ground.
I think it just drooped.
So I'm going to be under the tail to see if we can actually lift all the way up into the air.
Three, two, one.
In the air.
Oh, we are up and easy.
And down.
Three, two, one.
Let's load up my new bed and let's take it to the lake.
Here we go.
The first taste of my new bed driving.
I'm on the back of the trailer right now,
but we're about to drop into the water
so I can get this thing started for the very first time.
First, we're going to be doing a float test to see if the thing even floats.
It very well could sink or just completely flip over.
Next, we're going to make sure that the jet ski is working
and that it can actually drive.
And lastly, we're going to see how fast it can go
and see if we can get up on plane.
If we could do all that, we might be able to go tubing behind the back,
wakeboarding, and a bunch of other fun water activities.
While we sit back, relax.
They're chilling.
Oh, chilling in bed.
That bump was big.
Ow.
Getting ready to launch it into the lake.
It literally feels like I'm just chilling here in bed.
This is so cool.
Before we launch, we got to fill my bed with gas.
So we have a little gas tank filler right here.
Just doing the whole funnel trick.
Yep.
There we go.
That's actually perfect.
I've never launched a bed into a water before.
So we're going to see if this works.
Normally, this is how you do it with boats.
So just keep on coming.
It's not the right trailer and it's a floating bed.
We hope it floats.
Three, two, one, lift.
It floats really nice.
What the heck?
It floats really nice.
Nice.
It floats like a bed, as you would think a bed floats, at least.
Test number one.
Does it float?
I have to say this is a huge success.
And the best part is it's floating level.
It's not tipping.
It's not leaning or anything like that.
So that means our center of mass should be distributed just perfectly.
The second part of this test is, can it float with me on top?
This is where things can get a little crazy.
It could just tip over.
Let's find out.
Here we go for the weighted float test.
I mean, it feels a little tippy turvy.
Oh boy.
Uh oh.
Hang on.
I might need to like jump onto it.
You're not going to launch yourself on.
I'm going to have to like launch myself on.
It's kind of tipping over already.
I need to get to the middle.
Okay, here we go.
Three, two, one.
Okay, I'm on it.
It's a little rocky, but we're on.
I got to tuck myself into bed.
Okay, this is pretty sick.
It floats.
It feels pretty stable now that I'm here.
But the real test is to get the jet ski started and see if it runs and it drives.
So we got to go underneath the blanket where we have our ignition.
We had to get our jet ski key like this.
We're going to drop it in to there and then we can hit start to start.
Here we go.
Test two.
Will it run in three, two, one.
Sounds kind of quiet.
Let's try that again.
It's not starting.
I'm not sure what we do.
I mean, the jet ski ran before we put it in.
It's an old jet ski.
It's a two stroke.
Matt, did you mix the fuel right?
We might have gotten some sawdust in the gas tank.
Let me try it again.
We are so close to making this thing work.
If the only reason why it doesn't work is because the jet ski doesn't work.
I'm going to be so disappointed.
Okay, one more time.
Moment of truth.
Hit the start button.
I can pump the gas.
I've been trying that.
It wasn't working.
Oh, hold up.
Okay, I think we just had a fire.
Let's see if we can go.
Come on, old jet ski.
Let's go.
One more time, guys.
Hit that subscribe button right now.
I need the good luck.
This jet ski needs to start.
Here we go.
Three, two, one.
Yes, yes, we're running.
The jet ski just turned on.
Oh my goodness.
Okay, I'm adjusting the choke right now.
We are idling, but we're kind of going fast.
I'm going to let the jet ski warm up.
I'm going to try an easy left turn.
Oh my goodness, guys.
This is crazy.
This is so cool.
I actually can't believe it.
It's already so cool.
Okay, let's try a right hand turn.
Okay, the turn tests are going just perfect.
The choke is officially off right now.
I think we're going to be good.
We're going to try a small speed test.
We're going to try to give it a little bit of gas and see what happens.
Got to be super careful.
If this thing flips over, we're going to be in big trouble.
All right, a little bit of throttle.
All right, we're starting to get up on like a wheelie now.
I don't want to go too fast and push it, but so far so good.
All right, easy now, easy.
Okay, I want to make sure I learn exactly what's going on here before I push the limit.
Okay, there's a chance we can get this thing up on plane
and we could actually drive really fast.
All right, do one more turn test.
A little bit more gas, a little faster.
Three, two, one.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, this is crazy.
Oh, it's kind of working.
Oh, it's working.
This thing is so sick.
It completely works.
This is going to be no problem to spend all the time I need out here jet skiing in bed.
I'm so comfortable.
I got my pillows.
This is literally perfect.
It runs, it drives.
Now it is time to do the full speed test.
Give it full throttle.
See if we can get this thing to go up on plane.
That's what a boat does when you give it a lot of gas and it gets up moving.
If that works, we'll be able to do any kind of water sports we want behind this bed boat.
Speed test in three, two, one.
Wait, wait, hang on, hang on.
Uh-oh, that's not good.
This is not good.
My mom is calling me right now.
She expects me to be in bed resting before surgery tomorrow.
Oh yeah, I got to make it look like I'm in bed.
Hey mom, I'm doing good.
I'm just resting.
I'm in bed.
Good, um, why do you have pink?
Where are you?
My pink sheets?
You're supposed to be home.
I am, I'm in my bed right now.
I just switched my sheets.
I wanted to be extra cozy because I have to be in bed for the next 24 hours after surgery.
That's true.
You have to come home to clean sheets.
That's wise.
Yeah, surgery is first thing in the morning and I'm just going to come straight back to
this bed where I'm at now and I'll just rest for the full day.
Well, uh.
Nothing, just my bed, mom.
I got to go, okay?
Um, alright.
I'll text you after surgery, okay?
I will keep you posted.
Okay, I will.
Yeah, alrighty, love you.
Okay, bye mom.
Wait, what was that?
Bye.
Okay guys, I think that officially worked.
I think it looked just like a bed on the FaceTime call.
Now let's do the speed test and see how fast this thing can rip.
Oh, speed test.
Here we go.
Come on.
Oh, we are off a plane.
We are cruising just like a real boat right now.
Oh my god, this is, I'm literally jet skiing in bed.
Oh, this is so cool.
Just when I thought we pulled it off, something terrible happened.
The engine stalled, made a terrible noise, and I had to paddle into shore.
I think we might have sucked up a ratchet strap or something.
So we got to get this to the dock and see if we can fix it.
I hope the jet ski's not totaled and I hope my boat's not broken.
So this could be a huge problem in the end of the bed boat.
I'm really hoping it's fixable, but if we sucked up something in the jet,
I mean the whole jet ski torqued on me.
It stalled the engine, so whatever happened, it hit pretty hard.
Wasn't easy, but we got the boat onto the dock.
Now we need to look underneath and see what the damage is.
Oh boy, that is a mean looking spider.
We sucked up a ratchet strap into the prop, which caused the whole thing to jam.
Now it's raining.
Everything's going to get wet.
I don't know what's happening, guys.
This is an absolute disaster.
We're running out of time.
Surgery is happening in just a few hours.
I need to get everything prepped.
I need my bed to be working.
So I'm going to see if I can climb under there, pull the ratchet strap out.
Otherwise, I'm going to have to disassemble all of it to pull the spark plugs out,
rotate the engine in reverse to unwind the strap.
This could be a serious thing and there could even be more damage than that.
Oh, here goes nothing.
Oh God, she is banjo tight.
All the way under.
We have this strap sucked up into the intake grate.
Let's go for the cut.
Hope this works.
I guess at this point I need to just try to...
Oh my goodness.
It all came out.
I cannot believe that.
I hope that's everything.
Let me check real quick.
Inspection report.
I think we were able to solve this huge disaster
without having to take the whole bed apart.
Let's put it back in the water and let's pray it works.
Actually, let's secure the end of that first and then put it back in.
Yeah, there we go.
We finally did something.
We're back in the water.
Let's see if she turns on or if we blew out the engine.
Here we go.
Moment of truth.
Three, two, one.
We're driving again.
We're moving.
I think the engine might be okay.
Let's see if it revs up.
It's revving up.
It's working.
This build isn't just a bed boat, but it's also a magic carpet.
Check this out.
It's like flying a magic carpet.
There is nothing this thing can do.
The ultimate bed experience.
So there's a chance my bed just ran out of gas.
I'm like out here in the lake.
Hope there's enough to get back over, but we have to fuel this thing up.
But we have the blankets kind of attached.
We're not going to get to the gas tank super easily.
After many failures, the bed boat is a huge success.
Just in time because I need to go get ready for surgery.
And then I'm going to be spending the next 24 hours on this bed.
Subscribe right now so you guys don't miss my surgery
and to see if I can survive and do a full recovery in the middle of the lake.
Love you guys.
Peace.
