The sportsmanship in cricket would blow
a lot of baseball fans minds. Here's an
example of that. Now, you don't know
what just happened unless you watch
cricket, but if you're a baseball fan,
allow me to explain it, and I want to
hear your reaction. The situation is
that guy holding the bat on the other
end is the partner of the batter.
They're both up there. They run back and
forth and they score runs. He is out of
his crease right now, which means he's
not on the base, which means he can get
out. And if the defense were to throw
the batted ball at those three stumps
while he's not in his crease, he's out.
This ball is going to hit the bowler's
fingers, then hit the stumps. If it
doesn't hit the bowler's fingers, it
doesn't matter. But if it does, it's as
if the defense redirected the ball into
the stumps, meaning he's out. The
problem is the umpire turns his head
because he is scared he's going to get
hit. So the umpire does not make a call
because he didn't see it. So the umpire
does not call the batter out. And that
means the batter would then have to or
the fielding team would then have to
challenge it and replay it and prove
that it hit his fingers, which is going
to be hard to prove. But instead, what
happens is the runner sees it, watches
it all unfold, and immediately walks.
And to walk means he's declaring, "No,
I'm out. I'm not going to argue." Uh,
no, actually, wait, hold on. Did you
make the No, just joking. Just need my
sweater. I don't want to leave it here.
And he declares himself. It would be
like if a guy on first base got picked
off, he knew he was out, but the umpire
said, and he was like, "Nah." And just
walked to the dugout. No, you got it
wrong. I I'm out. I don't even know if
that's allowed in baseball. I think the
umpires in baseball would be like, "Son,
I didn't say you were out.
