Hello everyone, this is Yaya Mandarin.
Welcome to my Chinese character courses.
In this lesson, we will learn 3 simple strokes of Chinese characters
and 5 single-component characters.
Let's do a quick review now.
In the previous lesson, we learned 5 strokes.
The horizontal line 横
The vertical line 竖
The left falling line 撇
The right falling line 捺
And the dot 点
Now please check the exercise from our last lesson.
We need to find the strokes in the characters.
The first character, you need to find 点
点 on top
You need to find 捺
in the second character
捺
竖 in the third character
竖
横 in the fourth character
横
And 撇 in the fifth character
撇
There are 3 撇 in the last character.
Did you get it all right?

We will start by learning to write a new Chinese character 步 which means know
步 is the original word for embryo
And the top 横 stands for the ground
And the few lines below stands for the radical of plant

One more time

Next we will learn the first new stroke today

横折 is a horizontal turning line
折 means to turn
There are some characters with this stroke
For example
口 mouth
And 日 sun
And to meet

We will learn how to write mouth 口 and to meet 见 today
The character 口 is very simple
The shape of it is like the shape of our mouth
It has 3 strokes

And then the second character

The traditional form of it means someone opened his eyes and looked ahead
And it has a 目
Which means eyes on the top
And the person 人 at the bottom
What we are going to practice today is a simplified version

Don't worry about the last stroke

Which means vertical turning
There are some examples with this stroke
For example
Mountain 山
To come or to go out
出
There are 2 竖折 in the characters
We will learn how to write 山 today
山 was originally shaped like rolling mountains
We will start with the stroke 竖 in the middle
So it will be like

The last stroke is called 竖勾
As you can see 竖勾 is a vertical hook
Some characters like small 小
And 丁 has this stroke
