Hi everyone, this is YAYA MANDARIN. Welcome to our Chinese Character Courses (Hanzi 汉字). In this video, you will learn:
1 Strokes of Chinese Characters (4): 乚 乙
2 Single-component Characters: 七 儿 几 九
Hello everyone. This is Yaya Mandarin. Welcome to my Chinese Character Courses.
In this lesson, we will learn two simple strokes of Chinese characters and another four single-component characters.
Now let's do a quick review.
In the previous lesson, we learned two strokes.
The first one, 横折弓.
And the second one, 卧钩.
After learning these two strokes, we will know how to write the following characters.
Now let's practice with me.
横折钩
横
星
点
卧钩
点
钟
中国人的钟
竖
横折
横
竖
The last one, 人
撇
那
Please find the strokes in the characters.
Number 1, 横折钩
Number 2, 横折
Number 3, 卧钩
Number 4, 竖折
Number 5, 竖钩
Number 6, 那
Did you get it right?
Okay, now we are going to learn the new stroke today, which is 竖弯钩.
弯 means curve.
So 竖弯钩 means vertical curved hook.
There are some characters with this stroke.
For example, 七
Seven
二
三
二
Let's see how to write these two characters.
七 is very simple.
Only two strokes.
So the first stroke is 横
and the second stroke is 竖弯钩
For 儿
This character originally meant kid and looked like a baby's body.
The top part meant the baby's head.
But now it usually means son.
It's easy to write.
First stroke is 撇
and the second stroke is 竖弯钩
You can pause here and try to write 七 and 儿 one more time.
The second stroke is 横折弯钩
As we learned before, 折 means to turn
and 弯 means curve.
So 横折弯钩 is a horizontal turning curved hook.
There are some characters with this stroke.
For example, 九
and 几
Let's see how to write these two characters.
We learned how to write 儿 just now.
几 is just similar to it.
几 means how many.
For example, 你家有几口人?
But originally it referred to a small and low table.
So 几 also two strokes.
撇 and 横折弯钩
The next character is 九
九 originally meant elbow.
But now it means nine.
Same as before, two strokes.
撇 and 横折弯钩
You can pause here and try to write 几 and 九 one more time.
We are going to learn the second rule of writing Chinese characters.
First one, 从上到下
Top preceding bottom
For example, 二 and 三
When writing these two characters, we will write it from top to bottom, not from bottom to top.
Second one, 从左到右
Left preceding right
For example, 几 and 八
We will write left side first and followed by right side.
Here is the homework in this lesson.
Please find the strokes in the characters.
You can do it yourself and I will check the answers with you in our next lesson.
That's all for today's lesson. See you next time!
