What Makes Insight a Great Career Choice?

I don't know if there's anybody as big or as active as Insight in the world of growth stage software.
We really are laser-focused on finding fast-growing software companies
and all of the levers that we can pull to make these companies grow even faster.
Investing in growth is far more intellectually exciting. I think there's a lot more opportunity.
All we do is software. That's all we source. That's all we talk about.
I think the way Insight has stayed unique relative to other investors is to constantly innovate.
Getting into venture capital or growth equity or private equity is a relatively rare opportunity coming straight out of undergrad.
What I really appreciated about the role at Insight was that I could be a difference maker day one.
Insight is a great place to begin your career because it gives you an unbelievable skill set.
And you're also getting exposure to all the different things that an investment deal lifecycle might expose you to.
Mergers and acquisitions, exits, IPOs, management changes, new strategic opportunities, pricing discovery, all this stuff.
The things that go into running a business you're seeing repeatedly over and over and over again.
I spend every day looking at the software and internet companies that are going to potentially change the world.
I really can't speak more highly to the mentorship I've received here.
It's really more focused on actually learning skills and making sure that you are able to not only effectively be an analyst here,
but really build your own personal career and your own personal brand.
As an analyst, your job is to carve out those niches that you're most interested in, establish some sort of domain expertise there,
some sort of knowledge, actually teach other people at Insight interesting facts and things about those industries,
and then go identify the best companies to invest in.
As an analyst, your role is sourcing, which is finding new deal opportunities.
It's diligence, which is identifying what's a good deal, and it's working with companies to help them grow once we've made an investment.
So it's part finance, it's part consulting, it's part strategy, it's a lot people.
And being connected to the people part continues to be my absolute favorite part of this job.
It takes a tremendous amount of energy, persistence, tenacity.
Everyone had this vigor, this energy, this I-want-to-be-here-and-you-can't-stop-me-from-succeeding attitude.
We look for passionate people that believe in technology as the tip of the spear in innovation, that enjoy interacting with others.
That sort of personality and a defined and definite interest in technology, those are common threads that run through pretty much every analyst we hire.
And I don't think there are tons of other jobs where you feel like you have that defined, concrete impact on the firm.
