Hello everyone, welcome back to the channel, I hope you're doing well. It is another part
exchange video. I have bought a 2012 BMW for just £2,000, which to be fair is twice its
trade-in value, but it was against a very nice Porsche Meccan S that you probably would have
seen in one of our previous videos and that lovely blue. Apologies for squinting, it's
incredibly bright out here. Right, so we'll have a quick look at this car, I can spin around
hopefully away from the sun and we'll see what we've got. Right, so here we are, it is in white,
I've now got sunglasses which is so much better, I can actually see now. I'm not 100% sure if this
is actually an M Sport or not, it's got lots of M Sport badges on it but it doesn't look like M
Sport wheels, it doesn't look like an M Sport body kit. It's got an M Performance sticker down
there, I think someone's just been trying really hard to make this look like an M Sport car and I
don't think it is. So, why don't we just do a vehicle score check because it gives us all the
information for free and we will enter our registration which is Lima Lima 12 Delta Zulu
Yankee, although I do wonder if this will come up because it had a private plate. I was thinking
about it but it might have to check the previous reg. Oh, it has found it, okay, excellent. So,
709 out of 999 which gives you a free score based on its age, MOT history, mileage and many,
many other factors. So, yes, 709 out of 999 which is 90 above average. Is it EULA's compliant? I
doubt it. No, it's not. We can check specs, we can check MOT history, we can check the mileage
graph, make sure it's consistently going up, not going down. We can check our AI mechanic, should
there be something on this car if you were looking at buying it, you could ask the AI mechanic and it
would give you some steps to take to check that this car was exactly what you wanted. But what we
want to do is look at the specifications on this thing. It tells us 160.9 brake horsepower, top
speed of 143, four-cylinder engine, 380 newton metres of torque, amazingly on this car because
it will do really good MPG as well. Only £20 tax per year which is highly attractive on a car
like this, I think. But, yes, it's an efficiency model, not an M Sport model which, do you know
what, it's going to make it a nicer car to drive, I think. The styling bits from an M Sport are nice
but this with donut tyres and the softer suspension will probably drive a bit nicer.
Now, if you're looking at buying this car, whether it's privately or from a dealer, you need to do a
thorough history check, make sure it hasn't got any hidden nasties you want to know about, whether
it's got finance against it, whether it's ever been stolen, whether it's been written off and
you can do that with vehicle score for just £9.95 but if you don't want to risk your money, you can
do their assured report which means if the car comes up with no dodgy history then you will get
your cheque money back, you can't really say fairer than that. Just make sure you use my code
SHIFTYMETAL20 to save yourself a nice few quid. So, all of these M Sport bits will just be
aftermarket tat, to be honest. I don't have a spec list for this but it certainly wouldn't have
come with this limo tint on the front. They are pretty horrendous, they definitely need to come
off. The back ones are even worse, even darker, you actually can't see through at all. The previous
owner was a member of the advanced motorcyclists, in fact he did tell us that he was like a blood
runner, you know, a blood rider, among other things, a military reservist, he works in films
and stuff like that so they're treating themselves to a Macan S which, who can blame them? Got a little
bit of damage on the back corner here, the wheels are all in really good condition, there's a bit of
scuff along this skirt here which has gone through to the plastic, you could probably make it look an
awful lot better just by putting some white on there. Due to the value of this car it probably
wouldn't really be worth doing too much more. All the wheels though are in good condition,
fairly certain it's got Michelin tyres all the way around with good tread on, the bare bones of it
don't look too bad. We'll hop inside and I'll tell you the mileage and we'll have a look what's going
on there. Right, so we've got the cloth interior, we've got a manual gearbox, we've got more M Sport
tat, we have got a sat-nav unit but does it have, I say it's a sat-nav unit, we've got an
infotainment system but I don't think it has sat-nav. What I can tell you though is we do have two keys
and what have we got in the way of service history? Let's have a look, so we've got an
MOT record and a history check, so none maybe, there's nothing in there other than,
you guessed it, more M Sport stuff. I'm really trying hard this car, so potentially no service
history with this car which is a shame, it's a very very base spec this car. Seats are all in
good condition though and you know they're comfortable seats but they are, you know, these
aren't even nice cloth seats that they would spec. We do have cruise control though so that's a bonus,
we've got automatic lights by the looks of it, we have got our Sport and Eco modes but that comes on
everything, six-speed manual and we have dual zone climate control, all good things. We could pop
the bonnet, have a look in the boot I suppose, I don't know what else I can really tell you this
but yeah, we'll have a look at the engine, see what we're thinking with that. A few stone chips
on the bonnet but as to be expected, oh I didn't tell you the mileage today and I can't remember
now and I've just realised that because it's a BMW it doesn't have a latch onto the bonnet,
you just have to pull the lever twice don't you? So let me tell you the mileage is 114,536.
There we are, our twin power turbo two litre diesel and check the oil, that all looks new,
what's that an EGR valve potentially? That looks brand new but look at that down in there,
how brand new that is, fresh out the packet. So coolant all looks good, I mean it looks greeny,
bluey to me, very dark coloured but there's no signs of like oil slicks or anything in there
and to be honest the engine bay looks very clean so nothing worrying going on there,
even underneath the bonnet is always a good place to look just in case you know,
maybe coolant has exploded out of somewhere. Spring loaded, not electric, we've got pump
and triangle type thing, nothing too exciting but at least you have got a pump and I assume
some tyre, some Guard X tyre guard, lovely. So this car has got a retail price of £3,800
at the mileage that it's at, we've given £2,000 for it which was a bit too much,
I think the actual auto trader retail, sorry the auto trader part exchange price
was just over £1,000 but the customer wanted to get a bit closer on the deal and we had a fairly
healthy margin in the Macan as you would have, don't really want to give too much of that away
because, the margin that is, because you know, you're going to need it in an expensive car,
something goes wrong it's going to cost a lot of money to fix but we kind of worked it so that
it'd be good enough for the customer. I've just noticed this though, that's not ideal,
we could have a quick look at that, it's probably broken, I can't imagine they're too expensive
though. But that said, given £2,000 for it, it's leaving £1,800 across it, minus £20 for a rear
light maybe, it's got a few months MOT but not a long one, unless it makes some weird noises
when I'm out driving, I'm going to assume that it'll probably go through an MOT quite easily,
no service history though, so there's not a lot of meat left on the bone with this one,
so I think they're probably going to be trading it on but if I'm going to do that I want to know
how it drives so I can let the next buyer know exactly what it's like, so let's hit the road.
This time of year one of the most important things you can check is the air conditioning so
let's get that cranked up, oh yeah I think I can tell that's going to be pretty good,
we won't go crazy with this, we just want to make sure that it's not
making any weird brake, wheel bearing, suspension noises, engine noises obviously,
good news is we can tell everyone that the aircon is ice cold, that's pretty good,
seems to be driving all right so far, it's also got half a tank of fuel,
that doesn't happen that often, do a quick test of the brakes,
well I stayed in a straight line and no weird vibrations so that's good, seems to pull pretty
well, no plumes of smoke, test the cruise control, we're cruising, radio works as you'd expect,
not bad this actually, let's go through all the gears just make sure none of them are whining,
so far so good, I'm fairly happy with this because we have so many trade cars at the moment,
sometimes we might decide this is maybe borderline of what we'd retail, it's not really because it's
got no service history, it's 112,000 miles which mileage 115,000 miles actually, doesn't necessarily
always put me off but just due to the value we tend to want to have like, I think at the moment
I want to have like £7,000 value cars and up on the forecourt because I'd rather sell less cars
with bigger margins, keep the workload down because I'm flat out with 101 things anyway,
sometimes we'll get in touch with other traders that we know and we'll trade them on but
sometimes you send out whatsapp messages and they don't get back to you or then they want
pictures and it's a lot of back and forth which can be a pain in the butt but luckily now I've
got my cars bought for more trade to trade platform, I can list them on there so not only
can you look for stock to buy directly from car owners but if you're a trader and you've got part
exchange stuff like this you can put it on there and I think I'll just put this on there at what
it owes me, explain everything about it, I mean the only downside to this really is there's no
service history and someone might be able to dig that up otherwise for the age and mileage I think
the body works really good, it drives really well, it's got half a tank of fuel, there's not much to
complain about really, so if we can just get our money back that means we've had a good deal out
of the Macan S, this is off of our hands, it's left a bit of meat on the bone for the next person
to make some profit from and the whole cycle starts again, in a dream scenario you'd get a
part exchange that was perfect for you to retail which means there's one less car that you've got
to go out and try and buy and usually you get them at a good price because you're kind of
offering a handy service for the customer, they can just drive one car to you, drive the other
one away but they're not always going to be exactly what you want and we've got a lot of
cars at the moment that need to be moved on the trade so we'll get back, I'll park this up and I
will show you exactly how I'm going to list this on cars bought for more trade. Right okay so we're
going to list it to cars bought for more so I've got that saved on my phone as an easy tab as well
so I'm going to go to the trade platform, I'm going to go to my cars and we're going to add a vehicle
so we need to put in our registration which as we know is Lima Lima one two Delta Zulu Yankee,
mileage is 114,500 we'll say because that's slightly more than what it is, it's asking us
what the retail price is which we know is £3,895 and our offer price is £2,000 so we'll submit that
it's brought up, BMW 3 Series, if it's not your car you can choose not my car, number of keys, two,
service history, no service history sadly, condition, I'm going to put average because it's not perfect
it's got an M sport badge that's somewhat held on by zip ties and somewhat held on by like
household screws so we can't say it's exactly showroom condition but actually on the whole
it's pretty good, we'll show that in the pictures, it's going to tell us ask us for a total number
of services, last service date, can't do that because we haven't got it, please tell us anything
extra about the car so this is where we have an opportunity to kind of describe it, excellent
driving, two keys, V5, good tyres, Michelin, all round, there's not actually a huge amount
of spec on this thing so we can't really say too much more on it, it's going to ask us for pictures
then so if you're doing this on your phone which is the easiest way you can just kind of like tap
the overhead view of the car which tells you the different pictures that we'd like you to take
and you can use the camera straight in your phone, if you've got these pictures already and you've
kind of taken a set amount of pictures then you can do it that way, this kind of gives you the
odds of getting good money for the car, even on the interior one it only shows one symbol for the
camera but you can take as many as you want and kind of highlight features that you think is going
to help sell your car, this is very much a similar process when it comes to whether you're a consumer
and you're using carsport for more or whether like in this case you're a dealer and you are listing
your car, try and get it to show the dashboard, engine running so we can see if it's got any
management lights and to display the mileage as well, I don't really want to show you v5,
this one actually is for the old registration anyway but what I want to do is show that there's
two keys and only three owners and submit that and that is going to end up on the trade platform
which I will show you now, so that is now in my uploaded cars, shows me that it was zero miles
away, it shows a picture of me the bottom left and as per usual it shows the retail price and
margin, it shows the vehicle score as well because that happens automatically so our 709 score that
we got earlier is now displayed on the carsport for more trade platform and hopefully we'll start
getting some inquiries, some people might make an offer but we're going to stay quite firm with this
one at £2,000 but if you're a trader perhaps sometimes what we might start doing is putting
some of our retail stock on there as well as a trade, we might have a trade price that we'll be
willing to let it go for and a different price for retail so you can always start your price high,
people can make offers, try and meet somewhere in the middle and do a good deal, I find one of the
best things that's happened to me in this trade is getting to know other traders and moving stock
around to people who it suits better because we've got quite a good market for you know slightly
higher mileage, slightly older German cars here, we did quite well with Range Rovers but if I was to have
low mileage really new cars they just wouldn't sell so we tend to ship them off to other people
and this is a really easy way to do it and it's completely free to list your car so if you're a
dealer make sure you get over to carsboughtformore.com forward slash trade and if you're not in the trade
then don't forget you can still use carsboughtformore.com get evaluation for your car and you can list it
to these dealers that we're speaking to right now we've got nearly a thousand of them on there
ready to buy your car so that is on there now if you haven't made an account make one you can go
and check it out if it hasn't sold by then this is being filmed the day before you see this video
and that is it really just a quick little glimpse into getting a trade car sorted now we can park
this up and sort out some of these other cars that have now turned up and I'm starting to
go a bit loopy with all these cars so thank you so much for watching if you enjoyed the video don't
forget to like and subscribe don't forget to check out our latest competition our feelgood competitions
which not only gives you great odds to win a car but also helps charity we've currently raised just
over 14,000 pounds just this year for jack's neuroblastoma journey a local charity to us
