Hi, I'm Ben Teng, your host along with Ms Alice Phua from the Foundation in Science Department in UCSR. What's up Ms? First question, let's go. Definitely, Malaysia is in need of scientists. Potential in research, in technological advancement and finding new knowledge in various areas like biotechnology, in nutrition, forensics, even in medical science research, pharmaceutical science research. And even on top of that, by taking the word biotechnology, you can still dissect further into more niche areas like molecular genetics, human genetics, drug design, drug discovery, drug synthesis. So the opportunity is unlimited. Even in engineering, there are various niche areas in mechanical engineering, in electrical, electronic, in civil or the one that is gaining popularity now, artificial intelligence. And finding jobs in these areas is not going to be a problem because there's always demand in Malaysia for people with technical and scientific skills. As the name implies, you have applied, you have science. So you take these traditional forms of science that we have always known as chemistry, biology, physics, and you can either use them singly by themselves or in combination or take everything, bring everything to the whole next new level, higher level. Hence, you have that applied science. Apply them and you can use them to improve lives, solve problems for mankind, solve problems for even the environment, for food security. The potential is really limitless. As the saying goes, a happy family makes a happy child. So too, a good learning environment makes a good science learner. So you see, UCSI University has been around in Malaysia and has been the leading private hub for studying science since 1999. And on top of that, our lecturers, 83% of them are PhD qualified and they win multiple research grants every year. Besides, our applied science programs are equipped with good laboratory facilities to help equip our students with the right skills and to give them the right hands-on experience. We have laboratories in biotechnology, molecular genetics, microbiology, even in chemistry, food processing, fermentation, enzyme technology, pharmacology, and scale-up laboratories.
