Fernando, how are you? We knew it was difficult to get to the Q3 and yet again among the top 10. How do you feel?
Very good. I'm very happy to have made a good end of being among the top 10 and now in the Q3.
I think it's the third time in a row after Imola, Monaco and Barcelona.
After Miami, which was probably the lowest point, we were probably in the 10th car in Miami,
we have made progress and we are more competitive and I have more fun for sure.
How do you see the plan for tomorrow?
Well, I think it will be a difficult race in terms of tyre management.
We have fast cars behind us, Albon, especially in P11, with more tyres than have made it to the Q3.
So I don't expect an easy race, but we are going to give our all.
The fans have given us a push throughout all the sessions and why wouldn't it be the same tomorrow?
Thank you.
We have seen you celebrate as if it were the pole position,
I imagine you have given your best of what you could from your Aston.
Yes, I have given my best throughout all the sessions and now in the crown as well.
And we have had good laps.
We have been a bit conservative in Q1 and Q2 because we have used two sets of tyres
when it seemed that it was not necessary because the first lap was enough.
And that has penalised us a bit in the Q3, because we only had one attempt.
But apart from that, even if we had only one attempt, we had a good lap,
I didn't have any traffic, I didn't lose in almost any corner and this is the car's potential.
Everything is very close.
In a tenth it is true that you could be maybe seventh or eighth,
but we have to win that tenth in the next races.
You said that tomorrow the strategy will be important.
Last year we saw soft, soft, medium.
Will it be similar?
Yes, the tyres are the same as last year, so I don't think there will be much variation.
But we will have to be attentive to any traffic we have in front of us,
to any excessive degradation that sometimes surprises you in the middle of the race.
And you can't be three or four laps with that degradation because many cars pass you.
And the exit, which will also be important.
We exit in the middle of the grid and there will be a lot of action and we have to try to avoid any mishap.
Fernando, good afternoon.
You have seen how the fans have gone crazy with your lap.
Has it been the best position you could aspire to today?
Yes, I think so.
I am satisfied with the P10.
Entering the Q3, we knew it was going to be an important mission.
We got it and then in the Q3, I wish we could have won a position.
But we are there in less than a tenth, I think three cars,
and we have had to be the third of those three.
But today we are not as fast as last year to deserve more and we have to win in the next races.
A curiosity, Fernando.
In what position would Alonso have been if he had driven a McLaren?
That is never known.
But they are the great dominators.
Last year they were very strong and this year they are too.
In these circuits where we also warm up the tires a lot,
it seems that they have even more advantages.
They are the reference team and we have to learn from them and try to reach their level.
