Excalibur's AXE 340 Product Review by Bow Hunter Planet
Hey guys, welcome to bowhunterplanet.com's test lab. I'm your host Dave Thomas. On today's
show we have the brand new, first seen Excalibur X.
So sitting in front of you in this box is the brand new Excalibur. We're so excited
to see it for the first time with you. We haven't even seen this thing yet. We're going
to go ahead and open this box with you so we can get a feel of what's in it, what this
thing looks like, and how it performs. So here we go. Checking out the new Excalibur
crossbows. I'll just start pulling some of this stuff out here. So this is one of the
most affordable micros ever from Excalibur, and smallest. Look at that. Wow.
There it is. The X. That is nice. Nice, nice feeling bow. Very small and compact. Here's
our kit to assemble it. Got a scope in here. We got some warranty information, and we got
a nice Excalibur sticker. And again, your manual's in here and everything else you're
going to need. We got our arrows here. All right, so let me go ahead and assemble it,
and we'll talk more about this great new bow from Excalibur.
Here's just a quick overview of what you would get in the package. Again, you got your arrows,
your quiver, your warranty papers, manual, a cool sticker that came with it there, your
scope, your mounting bracket options for the quiver. Basically this goes on to here, and
that'll be a side quiver where you can go straight. There's a couple options there.
Again, the stock is here, your cocking rope aid, and then some of the tools you need to
put together. You got your field points as well, and again, your front riser.
So you may be wondering where'd the name X come from. Well, they like to look at this
crossbow like an ax. It'll take care of all your needs. It can hunt pretty much any game
out there, and is a very, very reliable lifetime warranty crossbow. This bow is really cool
for a lot of reasons. Number one, the size. You can see the sheer tininess of this bow,
as this is the Gen 2 compact recurve technology from Excalibur, something brand new that you're
seeing today. This is not a takedown bow, as there are other models. The new models
they put out were takedown models. This one is attached, and you're not going to detach
this one. There's no reason to. It's so small, it's going to pack very easily and very light
into the field and into your car or vehicle, make for a very easy trip.
This bow shoots up to speeds of 340 feet per second. Cocking effort is 135 pounds. Draw
weight is 270 pounds. Draw length is 13 inches. Overall length is 31.75 inches. With cocked
is 22 inches. With uncocked is 25 inches. The weight of the bow only is 5.5 pounds.
The stock is Featherlite. The finish is Mossy Oak Breakup Country. The minimum arrow weight
you want to use on this is 350 grains. Arrow length is 16.5 inches. This package includes
the Micro-Axe 340, the Deadzone Scope, the Guardian Anti-Dry Fire, the Reds Suppression,
the 1 inch rings, 4 arrow quiver, 3 quill arrows, 300 grain field points, rope cocking
aid, and owner's manual.
So again, they have the aluminum frame. Again, we talked about the anti-dry fire system they
have and all the great technology on this bow. This bow is perfect for beginners and
also pros as well. If you're in the market looking for a crossbow at a lower cost price
point and you want something that's still got a lot of great technology and you want
something that's super compact, the Axe could be for you.
So the MSRP of this bow is $699 for this package and that is amazing. It still has the premium
Deadzone Scope on it. This bow is available in Mossy Oak Breakup Country or also Kryptek
but it's only at dealers for the Kryptek. So you've got two options out there, you just
have to find the right one that fits for you.
So let's be honest, this bow is so small, right? This is the coolest looking thing.
If you're seeing it for the first time, you're going to love it.
