Paris St-Germain's brilliant teenager Desire Doue delivered an inspired display as they delivered a masterclass to thrash Inter Milan in Munich and win the Champions League for the first time.
You could really come in and take this team to the next level because they've got everything.
They're into Milan as well as they go up to the presentation to get their runners-up medals.
What went wrong for them, Rio? Where can you start tonight? They're completely outclassed in every
area. I think there's a big, there's going to be issues there. I think they're an old-aging team.
They look very old today. I don't think they're as old as they look today. It's going to be
difficult. I think this has been a terrible week. This is probably the worst, this is definitely
the worst week any of these guys would have had. Losing the league on the last day and then getting
absolutely destroyed in the Champions League final. In April they were on for a treble.
Yeah. To lose like that, it's heartbreaking. It's tough for them but it's, football's a brutal game
individually and collectively. You'd have a day, you'd have a moment where it's over and you need
to change, it needs to transition into the heat. Listen, you've got to give them credit. They've
been a fantastic team. They deserve to be in the final. They've got fantastic players.
They've still got a future because you can still recruit and build on the good players that they've
got. But tonight they're going to be sore because they've been mauled and torn apart.
They're going to be sore for the season as well because they missed out on three potential
trophies. They finished the season trophy-less and it's Paris Saint-Germain that complete the
treble with Luis Enrique. And as the players get ready to get the actual trophy underway,
the proper presentation underway, which we'll see in a second, we're going to hand you back
up to Wally McOyce and Darren Fletcher. Yeah, thank you Laura. There's Simone and
Zaghi. I mean, you can't even begin to wonder what's going through their minds.
Losing the title to Napoli eight days ago, the final day of the season in Italy,
and they just never got started tonight by any stretch, Ali.
Yeah, torture. Absolute torture. They've been absolutely outclassed in every department.
You've actually got to have a degree of sympathy for them. I mentioned during the match,
they had 90 minutes where they lost a couple of league games, a last-minute goal against Lazio,
but look at this. It's fabulous scenes. Well, this is the moment that they've
waited so long for. And look at the embrace between Nasser Al-Khalifi and his coach,
Luis Enrique. And that's the second time that he's embraced Ousmane Dembele.
They played behind closed doors when they lost in Lisbon five years ago. And for a team with so
much talent and so much financial clout, it's a surprise it's taken this long. Donnarumma's had
some massive moments on route to the final. It's a road that's had so much heartbreak and
disappointment along the way in recent seasons. But tonight, all of that could be forgotten.
The French team at the pinnacle of European football once again, 32 years after Marseille,
won right here in Munich. And it is a team that very much mirrors their manager.
It's exactly what it is. Real mention beforehand that a victory for football,
yeah, you've got to say it has been. They've been absolutely wonderful. Every department
heard Steven talk about him defensively. Yeah, defensively, they've never put a foot wrong.
So the team has started to gather and a couple of the scorers are about to get their medals.
Desiree Doué, what a night he's had and what a season he's had at 19. And there's Khabar at
Scalia, the big money transfer from Napoli. And the owner can't contain his joy. And Mbakenios
is going to stride forward in a minute. They couldn't have a better man for the biggest moment
that the club's ever had. No players played more games for the club than the great Brazilian
defender who's chased this trophy with them for 12 long years. And there is the emotional embrace
and he's going to get his medal and he's being cheered on by the Paris Saint-Germain supporters.
Such a loyal servant to this football club and a kiss of a medal from the Paris Saint-Germain
captain. You know what, they've been unbelievable, fitness levels. Well, the moment's arrived
and Mbakenios takes the trophy from Alexander Seppurin. The whole of Paris has dreamed about
this and now that dream becomes a reality. And Mbakenios with a smile as wide as the riverside
and the golden confetti raining down and his teammates ready. And he raises the trophy high.
Paris Saint-Germain have won the Champions League in 2025. French football and PSG on top of the world.
Just the most amazing scenes after an amazing performance for this Paris Saint-Germain team.
Guided by Luis Enrique. It's going to be a special day if they did it and they have done it and
they've done it in some style. 5-0 as Inter Milan lead the pitch. Their players absolutely dejected.
Paris Saint-Germain in an absolute dreamland and their fans who've just been spectacular from start
to finish in this competition and especially on this night. It really was a Parisian party
pretty much from kickoff Rio, wasn't it? Yeah, it was a one-sided affair. If it was a boxing match
it had been stopped well early in the first half I'm sure. Every player faultless today in a Paris
Saint-Germain shirt. The game plan set out, executed perfectly and I have to fast say that. Don't forget
you get one of these in your career when it's that good, when it's that perfect. This was that
night for them I'm sure. Yeah, listen they deserve the celebrations. Every single one of them.
Absolutely brilliant. This is going to be spoke about for days, weeks, months to come. You know
Inter Milan can't get off the pitch quick enough. They have to lift the wounds. They've had a really
tough end to the season. The league maybe they've had a hangover going into today's game. They
certainly look that way. But yeah, I mean let's just pay credit to the boys on the podium.
They deserve the rewards. They dominated literally every phase and again with the ball, without the
ball. Remarkable really. The work rate and the effort from what they're used to is just, it's
astonishingly real. The difference, the contrast to the old PSG. Duwe, you have a special mention
for Duwe. A 19 year old kid playing on the biggest stage like it's a playground at the back of his
house, where he's from. Have we seen now, I want to ask you guys what you think, have we seen now,
we've had two players who dominated world football for long, many, many years in our generation,
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Laminia Malfatti going into this was a superstar. Didn't get to
the final, lit up the quarterfinals, lit up the semis. Duwe's done it now in the final. Have we
seen now too, the change in the regard as two players likely to be them players? Listen, I think
it's very dangerous to make comparisons, especially so young and so early. You know yourself,
touch wood, you know, they stay clear of injuries, but to be spoken in the same breath so young as
Cristiano and Lionel Messi, for me it's a bit premature, but on the evidence of tonight
and the season, the two young kids, they've certainly got the potential to follow in the
footsteps. The way Duwe took the ball on his back foot all the time, it was just, he made it
look so easy. He looked so at ease, didn't he, in those little tight spaces, in those half spaces.
Like you said in competition, the confidence for such a young man is frightening. But my point is,
we've been sitting there saying the next two people are going to be Haaland and Bobby Mbappé
or Vinicius maybe, maybe one or two others. These two have come out of nowhere and stolen the show.
You'd never have said that a year ago. You know what I think is remarkable about him,
that he can play anywhere, he can play on the left, on the right and out front,
but I think seven of their players rotated the whole game, didn't they? The two centre-backs
stayed and the rest of them just rotated. So I don't think Inter could do who to pick up.
We just saw there Inter Milan, a couple of fans with Denzel Dumfries, who had one of the
brilliant performances across the semi-finals against Barcelona. They're in tears, they're
so upset. What would be next for some of those players that have had standout performances in
the lead-up to this final for Inter Milan Rio? Sorry, I missed that. I came over and shook
our hands. Sorry. We talk a lot about Inter Milan and their ageing squad and it's been
quite a highlight or quite a topic of conversation in the build-up to this match. What is next for
some of those standout players who had brilliant games in the semi-finals for Inter Milan?
And also, I suppose the next question is, what next for the manager?
Listen, I think recruitment is always key when you're doing well or bad. They're in a moment
where they've had some big disappointments this season. They're going to have one thing they're
going to have to do, whoever they bring in, they're going to have to rebuild these boys
from a mentality point of view, a mindset, because it's been some hard, hard, hard defeats
and moments in this season now. And they've ended it with trophies when they're on the
Does the Paris Benjamin fans and players just unite here in Munich? This is Paris at the moment,
this is at the Parc des Princes. They're having their own party themselves and so many fireworks,
better than our fireworks here at the moment actually. I hope they've got something special
lined up. This is the pinnacle for the, you know, for the ownership, for the fans, for the players.
They've got to enjoy this moment, you know, the final game of the season. Some of them will go
away on international break, but it's their night, it's their moments. I'm sure they'll party hard
tonight. I certainly did. And it's certainly well deserved. I mean, the fans have been amazing
tonight, but the players have certainly backed that up with the performance. I mean, look at
this here, look at this, these pictures, right? But imagine when they land in Paris,
what it's going to be like. It's going to be crackers. Have we got time to go over there?
I'm sure we do. I'm sure they're going to be on a jet heading back over there now.
Do you remember what it was like? I mean, not so long ago for you to remember back, but
just that feeling of finally doing it. I mean, winning is special, but to do it in that manner
is completely different. It's hard to win a final. You know, you've got the best teams,
the best players, the best managers, but to do it in that manner, it's just even better, isn't it?
