Today's inspiration comes from Paradise Valley, set against the region's extreme climate and
characteristic desert vegetation. Bridgeview House was precisely positioned in response to
the site's conditions, a steep slope, corner lot setbacks, and hillside zoning restrictions,
turning limitations into striking architectural solutions.
Designed by Kendall Design Collaborative, the house is organized across two levels.
The social areas and the primary suite are located on the upper floor, where expansive
windows frame panoramic views of the city and surrounding rock formations.
In the kitchen, walnut veneer millwork contrasts with concrete and brushed steel,
warming the cool palette and enhancing the sculptural composition of the volumes.
Floating ceilings and illuminated coves reinforce the feeling of lightness
and define each space with precision.
One of the most refined solutions appears on the upper floor,
which literally bridges over the lower level like a cantilevered balcony,
connecting the spaces and promoting both visual and functional integration between the two floors.
What's most impressive about this house is the way it seems to float above the arid Arizona
landscape, defying the uneven topography to offer stunning views of the mountains and valley.
The lower level are the children's suites, guest areas, and both indoor and outdoor leisure spaces.
Cantilevered roofs and second floor balconies provide shade for the lower level,
creating thermal comfort in the outdoor leisure areas.
On the exterior, the house shields itself from the harsh western sun with a curved block wall
and recessed openings. With finishes in oxidized steel, concrete block and pigmented stucco,
the house blends organically into the desert surroundings,
reinforcing the connection between contemporary architecture and the natural landscape.
The split-level entry hall functions as both a gallery and a transitional space,
seamlessly linking formal and informal living areas.
