Selena Gomez reunites with her onscreen brother, David Henrie, in the new trailer for the 'Wizards of Waverly Place' spin-off series, 'Wizards Beyonce Waverly Place.' In the clip, Alex Russo, played by Selena, shows up to Justin's house with a young wizard named Billie and asks him for help in her wizard training. 'Wizards Beyonce Waverly Place' debuts with a two-episode premiere Oct. 29 on Disney Channel. The first nine episodes will be available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the next day, Oct. 30.
Billie is a powerful wizard, but she needs a teacher who believes in her.
And I forgot to mention...
The fate of the world is in her hands!
Well, technically it's in your hands.
Everything is as it seems.
Alex Russo is back!
It is an absolute honor to bring back something that was so important to me and crucial to why I'm here today.
I remember right when Selena and I had our first scene together.
We looked in each other's eyes, and we were back. Not a day had passed.
Twelve years after Wizards of Waverly Place came to an end on Disney Channel,
Selena Gomez and David Henry reprised their roles in the spin-off series,
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
Billie?
I brought you here to meet your new wizard teacher.
Surprise!
What are you doing here, Alex?
I don't teach wizards anymore.
But don't you miss it?
No. I don't even think about it every day.
Yet instead of Alex taking center stage, it's a young wizard named Billie,
who needs help with her wizard training from Justin,
who's now a dad, husband, and principal.
Billie, you have a tendency to cast first and ask questions later.
Oh boy.
You made a mistake.
I make lots of mistakes.
It's a part of growing up.
And in our family, you don't get kicked out for making a mistake.
There was a funny moment where we were shooting in the school scene,
and right before we were about to shoot, I go,
okay, which locker's mine?
And I was like, oh no, wait, I'm the principal here now.
I'm an old man.
I can't, I don't get a locker.
Of course I don't get a locker.
That's weird.
But it's still, you're trained that way in your head, you know?
Both Selena and David are pulling double duty on the show,
starring in and executive producing the project.
What a trip it is to also now work alongside Selena again.
I mean, what's it like to see her in that kind of role?
It's amazing.
You know, the two of us, what's been really important to us
is trying to bring the spirit of the original show for a whole new audience.
Because the original fan now is in their late 20s, their 30s.
They're having kids or they're babysitting kids
or they have nieces and nephews.
And those kids don't know the original show at all.
So it's like, let's do this again.
Let's bring that spirit back for a whole new audience.
Billy!
Billy?
Billy.
We could do the dishes for me tonight and we're even.
Deal.
Without magic.
You know that's not going to happen.
Fans will see the magic play out very soon.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place debuts with a two episode premiere
October 29th on Disney Channel.
We got to bring families together and I just, I loved the camaraderie
and I hope that we can bring that to a new generation.
So I'm excited.
