Spencer Schwellenbach will be doing all of this today on his 25th birthday.
Yes he will. 12th start of the year, second against the Red Sox this season.
Coming off a tough luck loss his last time out.
They had a really good game against the Padres.
Seven innings, 200 runs, 11 punch-outs, but unfortunately suffered the loss.
Here we go, Duran.
He's been an igniter. He leads it off for the Red Sox.
Broken bat. Ozzie Albee's ranging over to grab it.
What a way.
Devers has put up big numbers versus Schwellenbach in the limited time that he has seen him,
including a grand slam against him in Boston.
And a ground ball to second.
Ozzie Albee's.
Drifts back just back to the infield cutout into shallow right.
Gloves and fires.
And two down.
There's the 0-2 pitch.
And Abreu catches the breeze.
100 on the fastball.
Wow.
Strikes out Abreu with pure heat.
And down they go.
1-2-3.
Walker Bueller.
4-2.
395 ERA.
Took the loss against Baltimore last Sunday.
5-1.
And he was only on the mound for 85 pitches.
Second one in play.
And Story throws it offline.
And Acuna will reach to strike the bottom of the first.
Wow.
With Ronald's speed, that would have taken an absolutely perfect play.
Story ranged hard and was left to get to that ball, but had to spin around and was not able to get that throw on line.
And this guy, Drake Baldwin, has been good on the road, but he's been incredible at home.
He's hitting .476 here at Truist Park.
There he goes again.
Line drive single out to right.
2-1 to start the bottom of the first.
The Red Sox in a huge jam early.
2-1.
No out.
And here comes Marcel Lozuma.
2-1 is a double play ball to Short.
Story to second for one.
Relay to first.
In time.
They got him.
Man, did Bueller need that.
Nicely turned.
So now Matt Olson.
Acuna could just about steal home.
Meyer is way over towards shortstop, and Ronald can come halfway down the line.
Out to left center.
That thing is going to plug the gap and get Atlanta on the board.
And one hops the wall.
It's an RBI double for Matt Olson, and it's 1-0 Atlanta.
Got to be such a good feeling for Matt Olson.
Coming into the game, he had just four hits in his last 39th match with runners in scoring position.
Here now, Austin Riley, a run in for the Braves.
3-2.
Swing and a miss.
That was a great pitch there.
Excellent slider, and the damage is limited.
Here's the 1-2 pitch.
Swung on.
Missed.
Blew a 99-mile-an-hour fastball right by the bat of Norvias.
I'm telling you, he stopped off at the gas station on the way over here.
Fueled up, huh?
Oh, boy.
Airing it out.
Again, the 1-2.
Goodbye.
That time, the splitter fans Marcelo Meyer.
Strikeout number three for Schwellenbach.
Now he faces the first baseman, Abraham Toro.
1-1 pitch, and a soft bouncer to first base.
Gloved right back to the bag by Olson.
Puts his left foot on the bag, and down they go,
very feebly in the top of the second.
Braves leading 1-0.
Trevor Story to the plate for the Red Sox.
Hit a two-run homer last night.
There's a deep drive to center.
Michael Harris tracking.
Michael going to the track.
Michael going to the wall.
Up into the air, and he's got another one.
So calm, just drifting back, knowing exactly where he was,
and rises to the occasion once again.
We're so accustomed to seeing him make those plays.
1-2 pitch.
Eight up and eight down.
99-mile-an-hour fastball.
Swung on a miss by Campbell.
Strikeout number four for Schwellenbach.
I mean, the stuff that he's got today is just rearing back.
Look, hit it if you can, but it's coming in high gear.
They have not been able to catch up with Schwellenbach.
0-2 to Rafaela, and he'll bite the dust again.
Splitter swings and misses for strike three.
Nine up and nine down for Schwellenbach.
He's feeling it, and if you're in the Braves dugout,
you're thinking, wait a minute.
We might see something special today.
Ozuna has a two-out knock.
Matt Olsen on RBI double in the opening inning.
Here's a high pop-up into center field.
Not hit well.
Seidon is underneath it.
Makes the play, and the inning is over.
Two up and two down for William Abreu.
Another guy who needs a hot run.
Yeah, you got to get him going a little bit.
Here's a drive into right field.
There's the Red Sox.
First base hit.
Boy, that is a good sign.
Back-to-back singles for Abreu and Narvaez.
And Marcelo Meyer with another opportunity.
The righty deals.
And a swing and a miss on a splitter.
Another strikeout for Schwellenbach.
He has six of them through four innings.
Austin Riley set to lead off.
We know it's been a bit of a struggle for him.
There are some good signs, though.
You look at the last three games.
He's got three knocks off the fastball over that span.
That is when he's at his best, when he's on top of the fastball.
And he'll swing, and he'll hit one to deep left field.
Duran going to go back.
Duran to the wall.
Gone!
Just laid the lumber into that thing.
I got to tell you, I didn't think he hit that ball worth a flip.
I was watching Duran, and he kept going back.
And all of a sudden, it's a souvenir.
Shows you how strong he is.
A homer by Riley.
His tenth of the year.
And it's 2-0 Braves.
One on, one gone for Michael Harris.
Looking for an RBI base hit right here.
The 1-2 pitch.
And he'll sting one in the right center field.
That'll lay down for a base hit.
Ozzie makes the turn at third.
He'll score on an RBI single by Michael Harris.
And it's 3-0 Braves in the fourth inning.
This half inning alone, Will, has had so many of the elements
that have been frustrating for those who watch the Red Sox every day.
You double up on breaking balls.
You get a launched home run.
An error when you're probably trying to do a little too much.
I don't think Galvez is going anywhere in that spot.
Throw it away.
He's at second.
And then a little looping base hit.
And it's three runs in for the Braves.
Frustrating.
Braves leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ronald will be the sixth Brave to the plate here in the fourth.
Now Acuna center field.
Sending Rafaela back.
And he will watch it go.
Acuna with his third of the season.
And Atlanta has opened it up here in the fourth.
He knew it, too.
That one jumped off his bat again.
Meltdown for Buehler, and it's 5-0 Braves.
Runner at first, nobody out.
The 2-2, swing and a miss.
Got him with a breaking ball.
Strikeout number seven for Schwellenbach.
2-2 from Schwelle.
Swing and a miss.
Strikeout number eight.
He struck out 11 in his last start in seven innings against the Padres.
Ozzie Albies with an RBI opportunity.
Swing and a miss.
He got him.
Buehler blows him away with a 90-mile-an-hour cutter.
And the inning is over.
The Red Sox need to get the offense cooking.
Spencer Schwellenbach has been in complete control.
And now he's got five runs to work with.
He has shut him out on four hits.
Got him.
Struck him out on another splitter.
Strikeout number nine for Spencer Schwellenbach.
That is painted.
Ten strikeouts for Schwellenbach on his 25th birthday.
Schwellenbach, I don't know what more we can say.
Six innings, ten strikeouts, no walks.
Tremendous.
Meyer on the day, 0-2, 2-Ks.
And he'll line a base hit in left center.
And he is.
One for three today.
Abraham Toro will be the batter.
And there is his 11th strikeout.
He has 11 in back-to-back games.
And it ties his career high.
Will Spencer Schwellenbach's 25th birthday present to himself?
Six and a third with 11 strikeouts and no runs.
All right, it's Deisbel Hernandez who enters here with one on and one out.
That is in there, no question.
Story down looking.
0-2.
And he'll get it.
Oh, he froze Campbell.
Turned him into a statue in the right-hand batter's box
as he watched a 98-mile-an-hour fastball blister the outside corner.
Madugo to get over to third.
The Red Sox will tug in the infield here
as Harris bids for his fourth hit today.
And, oh, terrific play by Campbell.
For the moment, that saves a run.
And he fires on to first base.
He took a hit away from Harris.
And an RBI to boot.
This full extension from Christian Campbell to get to this ball.
You have to have such quick instincts and reaction to knock this ball down.
One out from a shutout victory.
The Braves have done that twice this season.
It would be their third shutout win of the year.
Out into left center.
Madugo has it.
And the Braves break the Red Sox 5-0 to even the series.
