Hi guys!
Wenny here.
Today we're going to make these super cute mini notebooks slash coloring books that
I came up with.
And I'm so excited to show you how I made these using just things most of you guys have
at home.
So I wanted to show you this one really quickly.
I'm just going to open it up and so you see all the little pages inside.
And yes, I have a little message for you because I love you guys.
Thank you for all your support.
So let's get started.
To make these drastic cute mini notebooks, the basic things that you're going to need
is just paper, scissors, a glue stick or liquid glue, any kind of straight edge that you might
have and a stapler.
So my whole point when I was trying to design these notebooks for you to make is to use
things that most of you guys have at home so that you don't have to go out to buy anything
fancy.
And everything else is extra depending on how you want to decorate your notebook like
colored paper, markers or anything really.
Anything goes.
So it's all up to your imagination.
So today what I'm going to show you how to make step by step is this drastic cute coloring
book that I've created for you.
I thought it would be really cute for you guys to make this other than just a regular
plain white pages for your notebooks.
I thought it would be really cute if I gave you some of my drastic cute drawings.
So you can find this on my website at drasticcute.com.
Just download it for free.
And I've created these grids for you already so it makes it a lot easier for you.
Just cut them out and all your pages will be the same size.
So I went ahead and cut out all these little pages.
So as you can see they're just these individual drastic cute coloring pages.
Pretty cute right?
And so the next step is you want to gather all your pages together and you can make them
as thick or thin as you want.
Just as long as your stapler will be able to go through, staple through these pages.
And if you want to know the exact size, you like the size that I'm making, it's approximately
1 1⁄2 inches wide and 1 3⁄4 inches tall.
So just in case you really like the size that you're seeing, you can just follow that size.
And what you want to do now is just to gather all your paper, make it nice and even.
And so if you want it, you can use your clip again.
This is totally optional.
You can just have it so it just nicely holds it and you don't have to worry about it moving
when you're stapling it.
So then the next step is when you have everything nice and neat, you want to staple it on the
edge as much to the edge as possible.
So right here, I'm just going to go ahead and push down nice and hard.
So as you can see, I've got one in and I'm going to do the same thing on the other side.
So try to aim for the same place on the other side as much as you can.
So there.
So I've got it nicely level.
So not one stapler all the way over here, you're just trying to aim for the same line.
So now I've got them stapled in, so they're nicely held together, don't have to worry
about them moving anymore.
So after you've stapled your pages together, you want to find any kind of paper that you
want to use to make your cover and you want to cut it out into the size where it's slightly
bigger than your inside coloring pages.
So if you notice right here, I've left myself a little edge on both sides.
So that's the key right here if you want to make your cover.
And in terms of the length, just make it longer than necessary first, because later on you're
going to fold it and then cut off the excess, but you don't want to make it too short or
else you're not going to have enough cover.
So the key is just to maybe measure two of these and a little bit more, then you will
make sure that you have enough length to make the cover.
The next step is you want to take the back right here, just one of the pages.
So you're going to be wasting one page to glue this to your cover.
So make sure when you're making your pages that you have one extra page just for the
cover.
And what I like to use is a glue stick for this part, and the reason is because I was
using the liquid glue initially, and with the liquid glue it's hard to control it because
it kind of runs a little bit sometimes, and it starts to smear.
So right here I'm going to give myself some paper right here so I can put this glue on.
So I'm just going to glue, use my glue stick here, and go all the way over the staplers
too, and just put glue everywhere on the back of my pages.
So this is just the back of it, it has glue on it now, and so what I want to do is make
sure this is the inside of my cover, whatever it is, this is going to be my cover right
here, the front.
So I'm just gluing this to the bottom.
And what you want to do is when you glue it, is to make sure that it's nice and even before
you push it down.
So also you can give yourself a little bit of room right here on the edge too, just to
make everything fit in nicely.
So just push it down, and so then the next step you want to do, you can also use a glue
stick if you want it, or this part might work a little bit better with liquid glue just
because you're going to be folding it right here, but I've done it with the glue stick
and it works just as well, it's just neater.
The liquid glue just runs everywhere and I can't control it.
So the next step is to take this glue, and you just want to put glue over the stapler
area right here, and just a little bit over it.
And then you can come in here, right here at the edge right here, and put some glue,
just a little bit on the edges right here, and a little bit on this edge, on the inside
right here.
So then what you want to do now is to fold it, so hold it down right here, push this
part down.
So that's why I wanted you to have a longer piece so that in case this was really thick,
you would still have room, because you are using a little bit of the paper for the binder.
So then you want to fold it down and just make sure it's even to the other side, and
then just flip it over just to make it easier so you know it's nice and even, and just push
it down.
So your glue is right here on this edge right now, so you just want to press it down, and
when you flip it, get a pair of scissors, so you have this nice straight edge, get your
pair of scissors and just line your scissors up to this edge right here and just cut straight
away down, so that way it's nice and even, you've given yourself this nice straight edge.
From there, you want to get your straight edge, whatever straight edge you have, and
as you see your staplers right here, take this straight edge, come over it a little
bit, so it's about right there, and we're going to flip this book open, so just make
sure it's kind of straight when you flip this open, because you don't want to flip it open
like all the way without putting a straight edge there or else it might just unglue your
glue.
So you want to put your straight edge down and then fold over, so I'm creating that crease
right there for where my coloring book is going to be binded, so as you can see I've
created a crease right there, and then now I can fold it down, and so you can let this
part dry a little bit, and sometimes if it's not staying, then you can go in with the liquid
glue and just put some liquid glue inside just to secure it a little bit better, but
it should work with the glue stick.
So I'm just pressing it down, and so see I got my little coloring book, so that's about
it, pretty simple right?
So you've got your last page nicely glued to the cover, and you've got this nice crease
that you've made with your straight edge, and everything is nicely secured inside this
notebook.
So now the fun begins where you get to decorate your cover however you like, so I'm going
to go ahead and do this and show you what I'm going to come up with for this cover.
There my drastic cute mini notebooks are all done, I hope this tutorial was really easy
for you guys to follow, and it really inspires you to make your own.
I wanted to go over some of the things I did really quickly, so as you can see this is
the one I showed you how to do step by step with the coloring pages inside, and right
here with the binder I used the color markers to attempt this rainbow edge, so you can always
just use a marker or any color pens or anything that you have to make an edge if you want
it, or you can use a piece of paper and just wrap it around for a nice edge also.
And this one here I also used a piece of paper to wrap around, but what I did on the edge
right here was I used a marker to make these black dots and this line so that it kind of
looks like a spiral bound notebook, even though it's not real, see?
But it's pretty cool how it can look like it, right?
And then this one here for the Pokemon Pikachu notebook, what I did was I wrapped a white
piece of paper, so right here, I just wanted to show you so I didn't continue over so I
could show you, it's just a white piece of paper that I wrapped around and I just colored
this part red, the center black, and I left this white just to mimic the colors of the
Pokeball, so that's another trick that you guys could do.
But one thing I want you to make sure to do when you do put this edge on, or whatever
you do, is make sure you have to fold this edge and make sure your edge goes right, your
paper right here goes right against this edge right here, or else when you fold it open,
it's going to leave a crease.
So just make sure this piece of paper is right on the edge, so when you open it, it won't
be an issue at all.
So, pretty cool, I really love this project and I hope you do too.
I really love this one.
It's not really a Pusheen, it is kind of, but it's a white Pusheen, so please let me
know in the comments below which one is your favorite and I can't wait to see your fan
art of your own notebooks that you guys created, I can't wait to see them.
