Today I'm going to show you 20 really cool tricks which you can try at home.
Let me know in the comments if you try any, and which is your favourite.
This one's really cool. You can push a skewer straight through a balloon like this without
popping it. Here's how. So have you ever noticed that the bottom part of a balloon around here is
a deeper colour? This is because the rubber's thicker and not stretched out so much, so it's
under less strain. And the same goes for this part right at the top. So to do the trick, take a skewer,
make sure it's smooth with no rough edges, then give it a thin coating of washing up liquid to
lubricate it. You should now be able to push it straight into the bottom of the balloon without
it popping. Then line it up with that thick bit of rubber at the top, and push it on through.
Pretty cool, huh? When you're done, you can pull the skewer back out and pop the balloon. You can
also poke a pin into a balloon without popping it by sticking a piece of tape to the surface like
this. Then poke your pin or needle straight through the middle of the tape into the balloon.
It doesn't pop, and you can do more than one needle. How cool is that? Next up I'm going to
show you this really simple magic trick using a drinking straw. It's really easy to do, and you
magically make a drinking straw appear from out of your hand. Start by taking an ordinary straw,
and use a pair of scissors to slice up from one end all the way to the other. Then open out one
end like this, and start rolling it up into a tight little roll. When you're done, it should
look like this. We're going to hide it in the palm of our hand, and when you come to undo it, pull it
through your fingers and let it all uncoil. Keep it all well hidden, and it looks like you're magically
making this straw appear from your hand. It looks brilliant, and you can use the straw time and time
again. Next up, how to open a can with your bare hands. To do this, we need to separate the seam
at the top of the can by rubbing it over some sandpaper. Keep sanding and sanding until we open
up the seam, and you can see the individual layers. The lid of the can and the sides are no longer
wrapped around each other. Then wipe off any dust, and you can open the can by just giving it a good
squeeze. Pretty cool, huh? And another funny trick to open a can is to use a spoon. Grip it tightly
like this, and hold on to the can. Then start rubbing the tip of the spoon back and forth to
make a groove. Keep going, and you should pierce a hole right through the top. Then you can use the
edge of the spoon to cut all the way around the top. Keep going, do be careful of sharp edges,
and when you get around far enough, you can fold over the top. Now check out this amazing levitating
pencil trick. It looks really cool, and it's pretty simple to do. Here's how. You need to use a bit of
thread or some clear fishing line. I'm using this dark thread because it's the same color as my
shirt, but to demonstrate how to do the trick, I'm going to use this bright red string instead.
You need to cut a piece about 35 centimeters long, then attach one end to the bottom of the pencil.
I'm using this poster adhesive, but you could use glue. Next, we need to tie the other end of the
onto our top. A shirt button really is ideal for this, and once you're tied on, it should look like
this, but remember if you're using a thin thread, you won't be able to see it. Next, we need to place
a clear glass bottle straight down in front of you, then drop the pencil down into the bottle,
and you can see the thread goes with it. Then to raise the pencil, all we need to do is move our
body back away from the bottle. Come forward again to lower the pencil down. You can give it some
magical coaxing with your fingers to add to the illusion, and if we see again how the performance
looks using a thread, it looks so cool, and you can even make the pencil rise all the way out of
the bottle and fall onto the table. And for the next one, I'm going to show you how to do this
really cool bubble in a balloon trick, where you can grab the bubble out of a balloon, then magically
make it reappear again. Ha! It looks just amazing. To do it, we need some long modeling balloons.
Take a balloon, then somewhere in the lower half, give it a good stretch back and forward like this,
then do exactly the same, just under the top of the balloon. Now, inflate it with a couple of
pumps. We're after a nice rounded ball shape, then tie it off. And look what happens when I squeeze
it. It jumps back and forward between the areas where we stretched the balloon. So here, when it
appears I'm pulling the bubble off the balloon, I'm actually squeezing it up to the top and hiding it
behind my hand, and when I want it to reappear back down to the bottom, I just give it another squeeze.
Pretty clever, huh? It's definitely one of my favorite tricks. It's so easy to do and looks
really cool. If you're enjoying this video, please do consider subscribing, but check out this really
cool trick you can do with this ball chain. Ball chain can be used for all sorts of things, like
some bath plugs and even some window blinds. This length is eight meters long, and to start the trick,
I neatly arranged it into this can. Now, watch what happens when I throw a short bit of the chain up
and out of the can. As gravity takes hold and starts pulling the chain downwards, rather than just
flopping over the edge of the can, the weight and momentum of the chain causes it to continue falling
downwards, pulling the rest of the chain with it in quite a spectacular fashion. It keeps pulling and
pulling it all the way to the end. Ha! What an amazing chain reaction, and if I do it in this
transparent drinking glass, you can really see what happens. As momentum increases, the arc of the chain
going over the edge of the glass starts to rise even higher. That really is cool, and you can do
another really good chain reaction using lollipop or popsicle sticks. Start by laying one end over
the top of another one like this, then take a third one, slide it over the bottom one, and underneath
the top one like this. It looks like this from the side. Then take another stick, and slide it
underneath the bottom stick, and over the top of the top one, so opposite to the last one. Then hold
it in place, and continue this pattern working your way along. Make sure you hold it firm with the one
hand, as you add more with the other hand to make the chain longer, and you can even go around
corners. When you want to stop, just tuck the last stick under, bring it across, and down under the
stick on the other side to hold it in place. To detonate it, you just unclip the original corner,
and watch what happens. Pretty cool, huh? Now check this out. I've got an upside down bottle of water,
and I can poke things up inside of it, and watch them float to the top. That's so cool. So here's
how to do it. Take an empty bottle, remove the bottle top, and the plastic ring underneath. Pour
some water into the bottle, and leave a bit of space. Next we need to take a small amount of cling
film, put it over the bottle like this, and hold it in place with the plastic ring. Then use some
scissors to cut the excess cling film off. Try to make it as neat as possible, then make a small hole
through the center of the cling film like this. It's now prepped and ready. So turn the bottle upside
down, holding the cling film in place with your fingers, then slowly remove them, and there should
be enough surface tension in the water to stop it pouring through the hole. And now you can poke
things up through the hole into the water, until they start to float. Match sticks and wooden beads
work really well. What a really cool trick. Now if you find tying your shoelaces a bit boring, check
out this really cool magic trick. So this is just a magic trick which you can use to impress your
family or friends. And you start by tying your shoelace the normal way, but then we need to take
another lace exactly the same color and style as the ones already on your shoes. Find out where the
halfway point is, then take a short piece of string, and tie it to the lace at exactly this point. Next
we need to thread it down one of our trouser legs, pull it out, and position it behind the bow so it
looks like this. Then fold the bow upwards, and tuck it under your trousers. Anyone looking will
just think your shoelace is undone. At the other end, thread the string up through your trousers,
and hide it in your hand. You could conceal this under a jacket. Then when you're ready to start
performing the trick, just start shaking your foot, and start pulling the string to hide the fake lace
inside your trouser leg. It's really simple to do, but it looks amazing. And if you want to,
you can start with both shoes untied to add to part of the act. But if you do want to know how
to tie your shoelaces really quickly, there's a really cool method. And if I time it, you can see
To do it, we need to remove the shoelace, then re-thread it from the top, put a half knot in,
then cross-thread it all the way down. When you're at the bottom, you tie the ends off,
then move the slack back up to the top of the shoe. Once you put your foot into the shoe,
pull the laces to tighten it onto your foot, then make two loops like this. Next we need to
turn our hands in, so we're holding the loops open with our thumb and our four fingers. But
we've crossed one loop over, and not the other. With a bit of practice, you can do this in one
smooth process as you bring the loops together. Then we need to take hold of the opposite loop
with our thumb and forefinger, and pull the loops through themselves. And to undo the knot,
you just pull the lace out of the top eyelet. And it's easy to make some slack. And with a
bit of practice, you can do it super quickly. You can fold a shirt in under two seconds.
Lie a short-sleeved shirt out flat on its back, then draw an imaginary line halfway between the
top and bottom of the shirt, roughly here. Then another one halfway between the center line and
outside edge, about here. We'll call the point where the lines cross A, the top point B, and the
bottom point C. And if you pick up point A with your left hand, and point B with your right hand,
then cross your right hand over to pick up point C, then quickly unfold your arms,
and use the table to fold the shirt back on itself. Ha! Easy as that. No more messy clothes.
Next, you can impress your friends by drawing the perfect circle. To do it, you need to pivot
the paper around the bony part of your wrist here. Place it in the center of the page,
and spin the paper underneath. Hold the pen or pencil firmly, then lower it down onto the page
as you're spinning it. And you've got a pretty much perfect circle. You can draw a medium-sized
one the same way by pivoting around a knuckle, like this, and a small one by pivoting around
your fingertip. If you've got an empty sandwich bag, you can do this really cool trick. Flit up
with water, then take a sharp pencil, and poke it straight into the side of the bag, and out the
other side. The bag seals itself onto the pencil, so you don't get any leaks. It's a really cool
trick, and I managed to get five pencils in this bag. When you're done, you can just pull them out,
and watch as the water pours out of the holes. You can do this really cool trick with a Coke can,
where you balance it like this, and even get it to balance on your glass, too. In fact,
doing it on the table is actually pretty easy. Just pour out about three quarters of your drink,
then with a steady hand, lift it onto the side and give it a go. It may take a little bit of
trial and error to set the right amount of fluid inside of the can, but once you've got it, it
should stand up perfectly on the lip. And what's really cool is you can even give it a gentle push
to roll it around on its rim. Now, it is a bit trickier doing it on the rim of the glass.
Even with different levels of drink inside the can, and trying different balance points,
I couldn't get it to work. But if you make a little dent or impression in the can here,
then try again, you can just get it to balance. It looks amazing, and with a bit of practice,
you can even get it to balance one-handed. Next, I'm going to show you how to make an amazing
pre-sliced banana. And to make it, you need to use a needle or a pin. So take your banana,
and choose one of these lines to work on. Then poke your needle all the way in, but don't come
out of the other side. Carefully move it back and forth like this, and this is actually slicing the
fruit underneath the skin. When you're done, move the needle down a little, and do exactly the same
again. Work your way down the whole banana, and you should have something that looks like this.
You can actually just see the holes, so when you show it to someone, turn it around to hide them.
Then open it up in front of someone, and they'll be amazed by your pre-sliced banana. You can do a
similar thing with a slab of chocolate, by running it over the edge of a work surface like this.
Do it in both directions, then if you cut the wrapper open from the top, we've got these nice
individual pieces. Perfect for sharing. Now here's a really cool trick you can do with skittles.
Take a white plate, and arrange a load of skittles around the rim. I'm doing them in groups of four
of the same color, and working my way all around. When you're done, just pour in some water, and
watch what happens. I'm speeding up the video so you can see the results, but the whole thing takes
about two minutes. The color bleeds out to the skittles, and spreads towards the center, making
this really pretty design. You get some really cool marbling effect, and streaks of color, and
what's really cool is you can play out with different arrangements of the skittles, to get different
effects. This one's really cool. You can make your own really cool rainbow pen, which changes color
as you draw. To do it, take your selection of coloring pens, like a rainbow, and we'll be
transferring color from one to another, by holding the nibs together like this. Now as the colors
merge, some of these colors will get produced automatically. The red and yellow will mix
together to make orange, so we don't actually need to use this pen. The yellow and blue will mix
together to make green, so we can remove this one too, and I don't think we need two blue pens, so
I'll remove this one as well. And we're left with these four colors. I'm going to start with this
violet pen, then take the blue pen, and hold it on top of the violet pen like this, and although you
can't see it at the moment, it's actually transferring color from the blue onto the violet.
After about 10 seconds, change to the next pen. Next up is the yellow, and do the same again.
This time you can really see how the color has transferred onto the nib, and finally take your
red pen and repeat the process. This time I just held on for a few seconds, and if you look closely,
you can see how the colors are merging from one to the other. Then take some paper, and try it out.
As you use it, the color changes from red all the way through to violet. How cool is that? And you
can recharge your pen time and time again. You can do something similar with a highlighter pen,
by just touching a different color onto the nib for a few seconds. Once the color's transferred,
you can draw some rainbow lines. Pretty cool, huh? Now this is really cool, if you take a candle,
then use a sharp knife, carefully remove some of the wax from the base of the candle, to expose
the wick on this side too. Then roughly work out where the balancing point of the candle is,
and put a mark in the wax. Next, take a needle, grip it in some pliers, and heat it up over a flame.
When it's hot, you can push it straight through the middle of the candle, on the balancing point,
where we made the mark. Then take a couple of small glasses, and balance the candle in between them.
The candle will probably tip to one side, because it's not perfectly balanced, so lift up the lower
side, and light that half of the candle. As it burns, and the wax starts dripping, it becomes
lighter, and it should start to reach balancing point. And when it does, you can use your lighter
to light the other side. Then after a minute or so, when the flames have shaped the wax,
you should be able to give it a rock, and we've got our very own candle seesaw. If it goes too fast,
you might find it starts to stick like this. You'll need to release it, and let it go again.
It's a really cool little trick, and you can see one drop of wax running off every time it gets to
the bottom. If you do try this, make sure you do it somewhere safe, where nothing can catch fire.
If you take a balloon, and rub it on something like a cotton t-shirt, you charge up the balloon
with static electricity, and you can use this to bend water. Turn your tap on to a gentle flow,
then hold the balloon close, but not touching the water, and see what happens as you move towards,
and away from the flow. That's so cool! And if you take some ground pepper, sprinkle some out
onto a plate, you can also use the static charge to make the pepper jump off the plate, and attach
itself to the balloon. Now if you want to see some amazing gadgets that went viral online,
