Whether you're cooking for kids or impressing fellow campers, this list has something for every outdoor appetite
What's up Camp Griddlemore? Are you looking for fresh inspiration for your summer and fall
camping menus? Then look no further because on today's episode we are sharing our 10
favorite camping meals of all time. So let's get camping and let's get cooking.
Number 10. Grilled cheese and tomato soup, especially on a cool night when tomato soup
just hits different. This is a camping classic that can be served up simply with bread, butter,
and cheese, or it can be elevated like we did on an episode of Camp Griddlemore by adding
jalapenos, red onions, sun-dried tomatoes, bacon bits, and basil. This is also a great meal because
you can feed a lot of hungry campers all at once. Number 9. Mini campsite breakfast sandwiches.
These can be made so many different ways and all of them are delicious. You can go with just egg
and cheese or with sausage, bacon, or ham, whatever you prefer. The secret here is to use a pack of
King's Hawaiian rolls so you can make a bunch at one time. The smaller size is also great for those
lively little campers that probably won't eat a regular sized breakfast sandwich anyway. Add some
hot honey for extra sweetness and heat or don't. It's entirely up to you. Number 8. Parmesan crusted
chicken caesar wraps. These are easy and affordable and delicious and they are a total crowd pleaser.
The basic idea is to grill some chicken at the campground or bring pre-cooked chicken with you
and use a bagged caesar salad kit to provide the rest of the ingredients for your wrap. I know that
a lot of busy working parents want to keep the food simple and delicious when they go camping
and this one is a winner on both fronts. Number 7. French toast bites. These are an absolute favorite
with my kids and they're one of my favorite breakfasts too. I can do some serious damage
when I make these at the campground. Instead of using slices of bread, use mini rolls and slice
them in half to create a delicious alternative to traditional french toast. Use a complimentary
coffee creamer with cinnamon in it to speed up the prep process so breakfast hits the table even
faster. Top with fresh fruit and powdered sugar and you will be a campground hero. Number 6. Easy
no-prep stir-fry. I think that stir-fry is an absolutely underrated meal when it comes to
campground cooking. This one is super easy to make and all of the prep can be done at home if that's
what you want to do and then you save time when you show up at the campground. You can also make
stir-fry with an incredibly wide range of ingredients. Here at Camp Griddlemore, we love to start with
chicken, rice, broccoli, and peppers and onions and then go from there. Number 5. The egg in a hole
can be made in a wide variety of ways and it is easy and goofy and fun to make with kids at the
campground. We actually used a scrambled egg mix which is not the traditional way to make an egg
in the hole, but it worked great. Add sausage, feta, and a crisscross of your favorite hot sauce
to make an elevated adult version or keep it simple for the kids or make both. When you have
the large cooking space that a griddle provides, you can make a bunch at once. Number 4. We have
got to include hot dogs on our list of the 10 best camping meals of all time or this list would be
completely suspicious. You can make them as plain as you want for the kids or you can elevate them
with all kinds of toppings for the adults. Here at Camp Griddlemore, we've used Velveeta and bacon,
we've used pub cheese and jalapenos. We know that the humble hot dog can become a blank canvas for
some of your greatest culinary creations if you are willing to get creative and take some risks.
Number 3. I'm getting controversial here because I think that walking tacos beat hot dogs and they
are super fun, super easy, and super customizable to make with your family at the campground.
Sean and I actually did an episode on how to create a walking taco bar with all kinds of
ingredients so each camper walks away happy and comes back for more. You can go basic with meat
and cheese or load up that little bag of chips with a wide variety of yummy ingredients. Number
2. And again, I'm going to get a little bit controversial here. I'm going to go with smash
burgers as the second best camping meal of all time. I'm willing to take the heat on this one.
We have made a wide variety of smash burgers here at Camp Griddlemore,
including the controversial glazed donut smash burger and the spicy and delicious jersey devil
smash burger. We've done episodes on tips for making great smash burgers and we did that one
awesome smash burger that was like the bacon barbecue pretzel smash burger which was one of
my absolute favorites and we are just getting started. More smash burger episodes to come
here at Camp Griddlemore. The number one best camping meal of all time, for me at least,
has to be pancakes and this is sentimental for me and my family because that's why I bought my
Blackstone 15 years ago to make pancakes for my kids at the campground. The Blackstone griddle
is an absolute pancake making machine. Whether you're making them simple or adding all kinds
of ingredients like blueberries and butterscotch chips like we did on an episode of Camp Griddlemore
or a wide variety of fresh fruits. We even have an episode with six tips for making better pancakes
straight out of the box. It would be great for you to go back and watch that one so you can become a
pancake making hero at the campground. All right Camp Griddlemore, let me know in the comments
below if you agree with my list of the 10 best camping meals of all time or if you think that I
left something off of this list. You left out s'mores. S'mores is not a meal, Sean. It might
be a meal for you but it's not a meal for most people. We'll do a separate one on the best on
the best camping desserts and if you want to get the complete recipe and step-by-step instructions,
for any of these meals, we did complete episodes of them here on Camp Griddlemore. So just dig
back into the archives. Hope to see all of you at the campground eating one of these
delicious camping meals. See you next week here at Camp Griddlemore.
