Hey guys, so this might be the last video I film with my old phone. You guys have probably heard
me talking in some other videos that I broke my phone on an original and I broke an original on
my phone, which is pretty impressive. So I got a new phone. My friend Joey helped me get a new phone.
You guys have seen Joey in some music videos and some barn videos as well. And this is Joey's
church. I think I may have filmed the fans here many, many years ago, but I wanted to do a full
demo video. I'd have never done that. Also show some of the lighting stuff here because it's
pretty cool, but it needs some work. And if they're interested, I'm going to volunteer my crew to come
in here, replace the fans, maybe replace some of the lights and get the rest of the lights working.
Just so you can see there's, I'm pretty sure they're rapid start, but there's fluorescence
behind this cove lighting. These really cool sixties fixtures that hardly work,
some bullet lights that half work and these, you know, basic floods that don't seem to work.
This is all the lighting that works right now and they really could do better than that. So
hopefully they'll take us up on it, but I want to show, I want to demo the fans.
There's two in here and then two that I found in other offices. There might be more, but that's all
we had keys and things too. Hey, Joey, do you mind helping me with the fan demo? You mind helping me
show the fans? So all I need is you when you just go over there to that wall switch and turn it all
the way to the right. So that one stalls on low. Let's see if that one stalls on low. It's the
middle of the night as many of my videos are filmed. Yeah. Let's see if it keeps going. What'd
make them older than me? I mean, they work. The controls could use some adjustment and the
bearings might be a little rough and they're dirty. Plus somebody misted them with brown
paint to try to get them to blend in better, which I hate. If we get these, which I'm hoping
Metal Pete will take care of that in a hurry. Well, that one actually seems to keep going.
So yeah, I'm not sure what the deal is with these lights. They're all on one switch,
which does not seem the way a church would normally have them. So I feel like somebody's
been mucking with the wiring. Inch this one up. There we go. So here's a fun fact, Joey.
Here's a fun fact. The two fans that we put in the GMS balcony are the exact same model as these.
The exact same model as these. The difference is those were brand new.
They're brown from the factory, but they had been sitting in the box since 1980 or so. They're
called new old stock. Are you familiar with that term? It's exactly what it sounds like. New old
stock. It's old stock. It's like this phone that I did. My new phone is new old stock. It's from
2019. You think you said or 2020. So it's old stock, but it's still brand new in a sealed
package. So it's new old stock. And so I think what I'm going to do, let's do so he can keep
working on his drums. I'm just going to walk back and forth and tire myself out as if I haven't done
enough today. These knuckleheads at rehearsal. We just came from GMS. Joey's an honorary member
and staff member at GMS, but he's running from it. Just go on ahead and join the church, son.
Thaddeus would love to put you on payroll.
Yeah, people get that paint off of there quick. They'll be white again in a hurry.
Oh, absolutely. I guarantee if we took these to the barn right now.
Yeah. If we took them to the barn right now in a week, they'd be back to normal white colors.
We should just swap them out, and I bet you Northside won't even notice.
You think they'd notice? Maybe if I hadn't messaged Isaiah about them. We'll put them
both on medium. I mean, or I'll just take them down and leave the space. Do they even use them
in the summer? Should use them in the winter. That's what they're there for.
Because think about it. Heat rises. So most of y'all are paying for heat. Most of it's up there
in the ceiling. That's why a lot of churches have fans. Like if you think about churches with
really high ceilings, like way higher than this. It's because you'd be really, and most of these
old wood church ceilings aren't insulated. So the heat just escapes through the roof,
so the fans are there to push it back down. They're not there for cooling.
Okay, we'll turn them to high. That's another cool vintage light fixture back there.
The main ones I want are these pendants. You don't feel that warm air coming from that fan?
I feel it. That's because all that is is just warm air that's at the ceiling. If they were smart,
they'd have them on any time the furnace is on. That's why the ones at GMS run 24-7,
because daddies have that heat on 24-7. But they help in the summer too, because if you think about
it, heat rises and cold air sinks. So you're air conditioning your feet. Okay, that's bad bearings.
That's what scratchy sound is. Yeah, could be, but that sounds like bad bearings. That's what
that scratchy sound is. Let's see how the bearings are on this one. Yeah, they're overdue for new ones
anyways, so might as well let me have them. Yeah, that's a lot of warm air. It really feels like a
hot breeze. It's kind of impressive. Okay, do me a favor, Joey. This is the last thing I'm gonna ask
from you. Go back to that control and turn it on the count of three, because we're gonna do them both
at the same time. Turn it to the left so it clicks, and then after that I'm completely done with you,
and you can do all the drum building that you want to do. Let me know when you're ready.
One, two, I didn't say three. Did you click it? Turn it back. Did you turn it back on?
Okay, so we want it to be all the way right before the click. That's high,
and let it get back up to speed. Let me know when it's making the scratchy sound again,
the fan. Okay, one, two, three, click, and then we're just gonna see which one stops first. I'm
almost guaranteeing it's gonna be the scratchy one because it has bad bearings, so it's gonna
stop, but it's not gonna, it's gonna like stop much quicker. Like if you think like in a car,
like a wheel bearing that's bad, that wheel doesn't spin as easily. Yeah, so these have
reached the end of their useful life without being rebuilt, or maintained at least, which is what
Ms. Metalness and I would do. At the very least, we'd oil them, but they're not designed to be
oiled, so that's just something we do. I should have done a video of the one in your house. Is
it only one in the kitchen, or you got others? Yeah, that stops very quick. You can tell how
bad they are by if the bale blades go back some when it stops. They didn't go back much, so they're
not terrible, but they're not great. I really wish I could have stopped them from painting these
though. That was the silliest thing. Okay, I'm gonna go show the other fans that I found, and then
these are preheat. That's why they're, this one's buzzing like crazy. It's a preheat ballast that's
dying. I would just change these with different fixtures. I don't think there's any point in having
preheat boob lights. Okay, give them a glow here.
There's a possibility that they're gonna move to a new building, and this building will be
torn down, and if so, I definitely want to save the vintage lighting, and at least some of the fans.
That's not good sound. Let's try it on high. Okay, medium low, off. I think I know what that is,
I think we're missing a screw in one of the blade irons.
Back here of note, no. There's a socket fan there though. Yep, that one's missing a screw.
Yeah, that's as good of a spin down as you'll get, because
this light doesn't work. I'm guessing that was a security light. I wonder if there's
HIDs in the parking lot. This was probably a pastor's office of some kind or something.
Can I get to that string? Yes, this looks like a design house. This is actually moving in here.
Medium, low, off. Box fan. It's the only portable I've seen that I recall.
Like I said, hopefully they'll let us do some repairs here, and take down those poor
neglected gold lines, and we can put up something. Honestly, given that the building is going to be
torn down, I'd rather put up something that's not broken. I don't know if that's a good idea,
I think it might be a good place for some modern fans. We'll talk to the crew and see,
and plus talk to the church. I hope they don't tear down the building, because it's actually
a pretty cool church. It has a lot of the original lighting, a lot of the original wood,
so I wouldn't. I wonder what this was originally, and then that goes, that's that, that,
that, that, that, that. See, definitely somebody's been monkeying with the wiring, but
nothing we can't figure out. I think that's the only things worth showing,
but if I come across anything else worth showing, I will supplement this video. In the meantime,
thanks for watching. What should they buy, Joey? Yes, how do I sign off my videos? Okay,
well, that's true too. That old people would agree. They're supposed to buy fan stick. You've
never heard of buy fan stick? Buy fan stick. Thanks for watching.
