The bromance is over. Elon Musk and Donald Trump are now going at it hard. Meanwhile, corporations are ditching Pride faster than you can say “rainbow capitalism.” And there might be a serial killer in New England—unless it's just twelve totally unrelated killings.
The Elon/Trump bromance is over.
There may be a serial killer in New England.
And Republicans criticize a Democrat for an alleged Heil Hitler.
I did Not-Zi that coming.
That and more on this week’s headlines.
Welcome to America Uncovered.
I’m Matt Gnaizda, filling in for Chris Chappell
who’s off getting his black belt in Shaq Fu.
Happy Pride Month, everybody.
Yes, it’s that wonderful time of year where everything gets covered in rainbows…
And corporations show their support for the LGBTQ community
out of the pure, altruistic goodness of their hearts.
Aaaaat least until it looks like the cultural tide has shifted.
Then those same corporations drop their support
faster than Andy dropped Woody for Buzz Lightyear.
In 2025, several big corporations have pulled their support for Pride events,
causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in budget shortfalls.
They’re also pulling back on Pride merchandise and vocal support.
This has led to many questioning corporations' commitment to social justice issues.
Which has led to me wondering…
why?
How is it a surprise to anyone
that corporations are doing what they think will make them the most money?
That’s what they’re designed to do!
That’d be like being shocked that
Wes Anderson made a highly saturated movie featuring quirky characters in tweed sweaters.
You can tell corporations aren’t real allies because no history lesson on civil rights
has ever mentioned the contributions of McDonald’s.
And even though they announced they’re finally bringing the Snack Wrap back next month,
you can tell they’re not allies to the LGBTQ community
because it’s made with iceberg lettuce instead of rainbow chard.
But no matter how much the cultural tide may shift, rest assured,
we here at America Uncovered will always stick to our values.
Now watch this video of Donald Trump.
It’ll make you so angry! Be right back.
“Oh, I don’t know what I said. I don’t remember!”
Former president Bill Clinton has teamed up with
thriller and suspense author James Patterson on an upcoming novel, ‘The First Gentleman.’
This is actually the third book the pair have written together,
after ‘The President is Missing’ in 2018
and ‘The President’s Daughter’ in 2021.
The reviews mostly called the novels entertaining but ridiculous.
Given some of his activities while president —
and alleged activities after leaving office —
We might be lucky if it’s only ridiculous.
This book — ‘The First Gentleman’ — is about a topic that was almost a reality for Bill Clinton.
“He was almost the First Gentleman.”
“Yeah, I thought about it for years.
And it’s the only political job I ever wanted but didn’t get.”
“First Gentleman?”
“Yeah. Because I really thought Hillary should be president.”
In the novel, the First Gentleman — seemingly a stand-in for Clinton — is accused of murder.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but if the first female president is a stand-in for Hillary,
then my guess is the twist is that the president was the actual murderer!
And in the about the author section, it’ll describe Bill Clinton as
A former president and governor of Arkansas,
with no history of depression or urges to harm himself.
No reason why this is being mentioned.
Speaking of writing: the ever eroding trust in the media.
Business Insider is going quote unquote “all-in on AI” –
according to its worker’s union – by laying off 21% of its staff.
Why might the union think that? Well, it’s because,
in the same email the company announced it was downsizing and
laying off one-fifth of its staff, its CEO said,
“Over 70% of Business Insider employees are already using
Enterprise ChatGPT regularly (our goal is 100%),
and we’re building prompt libraries and sharing everyday use cases that
help us work faster, smarter, and better.”
I just think this is horrible.
Soulless automatons programmed to spit out whatever narrative they’re given…
are getting replaced by AI!
So I don’t know if we’ll really notice a difference, actually.
And after the break, New England has a serial killer… Maybe?
Welcome back.
12 dead bodies have been found in New England over the past three months,
with two of the bodies being found in the same small town.
This is leading many to suspect a serial killer might be on the loose.
Somewhere, a woman is thinking,
“Yes! Fresh podcast content!”
So, is it true? Is there a serial killer in New England?
Police and local experts say no.
James Alan Fox — a Northeastern University criminologist
and what Mitch McConnell thinks he looks like —
explains, “Most serial killers have some commonality in their victims …
But in these cases there are so many dissimilarities.”
So you can rest easy, New Englanders.
There isn’t a serial killer on the loose.
There are multiple killers on the loose.
Sleep tight!
I’m sure this explanation will absolutely 100% quell the serial killer rumors,
because if there’s anyone people trust more than the media these days, it’s local authorities.
But regardless, whether there’s a serial killer or not,
I have just one message to anyone committing violent crimes in the Northeast:
Stay away from beautiful Delaware!
And speaking of unspeakable violence,
12 people in Boulder, Colorado were injured at a rally in support of Israeli hostages
by a man using a makeshift flamethrower and petrol bombs,
otherwise known as Molotov cocktails.
And before anyone tries blaming his motive on violent video games,
the man allegedly shouted “free Palestine” while committing the attack.
I don’t think that’s a Switch 2 launch title.
The suspect — Mohammed Sabry Soliman, who’s being charged with a hate crime —
told police he planned this for a year and was targeting what he called a Zionist group.
Man, it’s almost like he’s trying to burn any good will pro-Palestinian protestors have.
Along with himself.
But that’s not the only group he’s making look bad.
It turns out that Soliman, an Egyptian, was in the US illegally
on a visa that expired in March.
Honestly, I’m almost impressed with just how unhelpful this was to multiple causes.
By trying to stage a violent protest, now pro-Palestine and pro-immigration groups
are gonna need to stage a separate non-violent protest, declaring in unison,
“We don’t know her.”
Speaking of people dying
— don’t worry, this story’s whimsical in comparison —
You may have heard about Republican Iowa Senator Joni Ernst telling constituents
worried about cuts to Medicaid under the Big, Beautiful Bill that
“we all are going to die.”
That’s outrageous!
Mostly because it’s exclusionary to Wolverine.
As much as he craves the release of death, his healing factor won’t let him have it.
And before you write in the comments, “But he died in the movies,” first, spoiler.
Second, I’m talking about the comics, you filthy casual.
Now, a lot of media outlets are leaving out the context of this situation,
which is that Ernst was saying people that would lose access
to Medicaid weren’t eligible for it in the first place.
“It’s corrections of overpayments and people that have not been eligible
for these programs by law as it is currently written.
So when you are arguing, when you are arguing about
illegals that are receiving Medicaid benefits
— 1.4 million — they are not eligible, so they will be coming off. So-
“People are going to die!”
“People are not… Well, we all are going to die, so…”
So with the context, that remark is…
slightly better?
I gotta admit, it still comes across as flippant and callous.
And it didn’t help criticisms when she
posted an even more flippant video of her addressing this incident in a cemetery.
“I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that,
yes, we are all going to perish from this Earth.
So, I apologize, and I’m really, really glad that
I did not have to bring up the subject of the Tooth Fairy as well.”
I wish she did bring up the Tooth Fairy,
because I want to know if the cuts to Medicaid will affect that service.
I have to admit, though, “We are all going to die”
is a great way to end any conversation.
“Do you think I look better in the tan hat or the purple one?”
“Who cares? We’re all gonna die.”
“I guess I’ll get one in black.”
I just wish we’d focus less on soundbites and more on policy.
For example, according to an analysis from the Congressional Budget Office,
Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill will cut taxes by $3.75 trillion,
add $2.4 trillion to the deficit over ten years,
and leave 10.9 million more people uninsured by 2034.
In response, I hope Trump just says,
“Well, we are all going to die.” Works in every situation.
This bill did lead to the death of something:
Trump and Elon Musk’s bromance.
Last week I talked about how Musk criticized the Big, Beautiful Bill
and how it undermined the work he tried to do with DOGE.
And I understand.
Imagine if the president asked you to dedicate
three months of your life to a super stressful project,
that ended up causing your stock portfolio to lose billions of dollars,
and then just turned around made you feel like it was all for nothing.
Well, you’d be mad, too.
Until you realized you’re still a multi-billionaire.
But at any rate, the bromance is over.
And now, things have escalated between two of the world’s most powerful men
on the social media platforms each of them own.
Yeah, we live in a weird timeline.
Musk called Trump an ingrate and said Republicans wouldn’t have won in 2024 without him,
and said Trump’s tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year.
Trump, meanwhile, said Musk is mad at the bill removing an EV mandate and that it made him crazy.
This claim received widespread backlash on Musk’s home turf of X,
where commenters said that Musk has always been in favor of cutting EV tax credits.
Well, at least the attacks just stuck to policy and...
I’m just kidding.
Musk also claimed the reason the Epstein files haven’t been released is because Trump is in them.
Elon Musk and calling people he disagrees with a pedo guy.
Name a more iconic duo.
Musk also asked his followers if it’s time for a
new political party in America that represents the 80% in the middle.
And agreed with Ian Miles Cheung calling for Trump’s impeachment.
Is this the origin story for the X-ocrats? Or X-publicans?
Well, I guess if anyone would know about the plight of the working man,
it’s the richest man on the planet.
But at least Democrats know how to focus on policy!
You can tell because the DNC rented a taco truck to park near RNC headquarters to mock Trump,
as the acronym TACO is being used online to stand for “Trump Always Chickens Out.”
Yup, this is definitely gonna turn things around for Democrats
and help make life better for all Americans,
who for sure aren’t terminally frustrated and embarrassed by our representatives.
Speaking of embarrassing political gaffes,
Remember when so many people on the left were convinced Elon Musk gave a Nazi salute?
You know, back before he was their hero again for going after Trump?
Well, here’s Senator Cory Booker in front of a group of California Democrats.
Yup, they’re the same picture.
Now the right is criticizing Booker for making this same “my heart goes out to you” gesture
and how there will be much less scrutiny on him for doing it.
A spokesperson for Booker responded to this criticism, telling Newsweek,
“Cory Booker was obviously just waving to the crowd.
Anyone who claims his wave is the same as Elon Musk's gesture is operating in bad faith.”
Yeah! How dare they say the exact same gesture was the exact same gesture.
And besides, Booker couldn’t be a Nazi sympathizer.
I mean, who ever heard of a black person giving a Nazi salute?
Besides the Antioch High School shooter.
But that’s ancient history! Almost five months ago!
Honestly, trying to suggest a gesture is proof that a rival political figure is a Nazi
comes across as desperate and just about as sincere and authentic as
corporations’ support for the LGBTQ community.
Have a great Pride Month, everyone.
