About the U.S. Army:
The Army Mission – our purpose – remains constant: To deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt & sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force.
Our steel fitness trainer class, that's been going really well. It's something we're continuously
improving for our NCOs, but making sure that they're trained up so they have an understanding
of why we're doing what we're doing and they can better push that out too as well. So with the
SFT course, we train up our NCOs. We are with them for a week, put them through a crash course,
and then they come into the units kind of ready to go, ready to lead PT. The steel fitness trainer,
we're basically the ones who assist those strength coaches within the H2O program with
ensuring proper technique, proper form, providing information as far as the H2O program and all the
services provided to the soldiers to better enhance themselves as well as the unit. It ensures that
the commander has a voice to kind of oversee with the injury prevention because they're correcting
those form issues, those technique issues, and then also providing guidance as far as recovery
if the injuries are happening while I'm pointing in the right direction to have those injuries
addressed as early as possible. But I think one thing we've done really well is kind of leveraging
our NCOs, getting them trained up to kind of help facilitate and then acting more as the advisors
on our end I think works really well. We put a huge emphasis on H2F. Coach Haley comes to
our weekly training meetings. She meets with the steel fitness trainers and the battery at least
once a week. So she is fully embedded in the program and fully gets feedback all over the
place from all of our NCOs and officers within the formation. The program that exists in this brigade
really gives the education to those NCOs in order to correct form, assist in planning programs,
and then really assist in the warm-up and mobility piece of the fitness plan. Our steel
fitness trainers are really an extension of our H2F staff. They're the ones that get a lot of the
input from their peers but then also from their leadership and then together with the strength
coaches they build the program together. They'll kind of share the load of running it and then the
strength coach starts to back off and let that SFT run the entire show. So then that way the
strength coaches can fix form but overall the SFT will be in charge of training.
