“Wild” horse looks after kittens & goats like a mom. Shorouq, the rescued horse, had a rough start, but everything changed when she met her new owner. Even through bad times, Shorouq’s personality shone through, but in her new home, they saw a different side to her.
This huge animal, she's got a sixth sense for other animals.
She's like, ah, you're all my children.
She will ruffle their hair and make sure everyone's warming up.
Kaya just gave birth to the most beautiful baby girl, Kiki.
Chirrup just follows Kiki around very carefully.
It was a shock.
I always saw her as very wild, very fierce.
I'm living in Morocco and I wanted to rescue a horse.
I found Chirrup and I knew within the first seconds that I had to help.
Carrots. Here's Chirrup.
She had a skin infection.
She was a little underweight.
And the guy who was looking after her kept telling me,
oh, she's really dangerous and she's really wild.
She barks and she kicks.
Which was true.
It was heartbreaking.
But Chirrup always has had such a strong personality.
Every time I moved away from her door, she'd demand that I come back.
I've got carrots in my hair. Do you want my carrots?
And that made me think, we can build something here.
All I need to do is just give her loads of carrots and cuddles
and braid her hair and it will be fine.
But it was a lot, lot, lot more challenging than that.
She became very difficult to control.
Where she reared and I had to let her run off.
So I found a really, really good trainer.
And purely just spending so much time with her.
That really helped with the trust as well.
I love her so much. I can't stop hanging out with her.
Look at her.
The breakthrough moment was when, for the first time,
I saw her lying down in her stable.
It's so good to see you, darling.
She finally let me in.
Since then, she sort of loves me napping with her.
But other animals, she was an absolute sweetheart.
She's so gentle with tiny kittens.
And Kaya's always loved hanging out near Cheru on that little windowsill.
She became a mother to every small animal.
I was excited when I saw the softer side of her personality coming out.
It's been a huge journey.
Earning her trust was a pretty crazy thing to do,
but the best thing I've ever done.
It just makes me really happy that she has space to run around and express herself.
