If you're a fan of the Starbucks Medicine Ball tea, but you don't want to have to leave
the house and make a Starby's run whenever you're in the mood, then you're in the right
place.
With just 5 ingredients and about 10 minutes of your time, you can easily recreate this
comforting drink in your own kitchen.
This tea actually originated as a secret menu drink for when you're feeling under the weather,
but it's a yummy tea whether you're trying to ward off a cold or not.
And Starbucks actually made it an official menu item, but they named it Honey Citrus
Mint Tea instead of Medicine Ball Tea.
I went to Starbucks and ordered it for myself so that I could properly recreate the taste.
I felt like you could really taste the lemon and the peach flavor was also nice.
I asked how they make the tea, and they said that they use half water, half lemonade, so
that's how I recreated the recipe at home.
Okay, let's quickly go over the ingredients you'll need.
3 quarters cup of lemonade.
I'll also show you how to make this with just lemon juice and honey later on.
3 quarters cup of water.
A mint green tea bag.
Now as far as I know, Starbucks uses Teavana tea in their drinks, and here they use the
Jade Mint Green Tea.
But you don't have to buy this specific tea in order to recreate this at home.
Any green tea with mint and lemon will do the trick.
I like the Tazo Organic Green Zen Tea because it has all those flavors and it's fair trade.
You'll also need a peach chamomile tea bag.
Again, Starbucks uses the Teavana Peach Tranquility Tea, but again, you don't have to purchase
this particular peach tea.
Look for a peach tea that contains chamomile.
Target sells a peach honey tea which contains chamomile, and that's what I used to recreate this.
Keep in mind that the Target peach tea contains caffeine, unlike the Teavana Peach Tranquility.
Now if you're not super particular about the flavors being really accurate to the original,
you can actually just use two of the Yogi Green Tea Kombucha tea bags and leave out
the peach tea.
It contains the fruity flavors of plum and passion fruit, so it will be similar but not
exactly the same as the Starbucks flavors.
And finally, you'll need one teaspoon of honey.
Okay, start by placing the lemonade and water in a saucepan and bring that to a boil over
the stills.
Meanwhile, place the two tea bags in a 12 ounce mug.
When the lemonade and water are boiling, pour that over the tea bags.
Set the timer for three minutes, or to the amount of time that's recommended for your
tea to steep.
After the tea is done steeping, mix in the honey.
Now the way Starbucks serves this drink is they leave the tea bags in.
You can either sip without removing the tea bags, or remove them before enjoying.
Now if you don't want to have to purchase a bottle of lemonade, you can actually just
use lemon juice and then increase the amount of water and honey.
So leave out the lemonade, add one to one and a half tablespoons of lemon juice, increase
the water to one and a third cups, and increase the honey to one tablespoon.
This way you're using fresh ingredients and you don't have to specially buy a bottle of
pre-made lemonade.
Now for one of my favorite parts, the cost breakdown.
At Starbucks, a tall honey citrus mint tea will set you back around $3.50.
If you make it with the same quality of ingredients as Starbucks, it will be less than half price
at around $1.29.
If you use all organic ingredients, it's still about half price at $1.36.
This is because the organic tea that I used is actually cheaper than the Teavana tea.
So as you can see, it's a significant savings to make this at home.

I'll show you how to make la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la.
Keep in mind that the part, the part again, Starbucks drink, ah ah ah, this is hard.
