The Rooster and the Sun
A Lesson in Punctuality
Long, long ago,
in a peaceful village nestled between
green hills and golden fields,
lived the Rooster
and the Sun,
two inseparable friends
who worked in perfect harmony.
Every morning, just before the first light,
the Rooster would hop
onto the highest roof in the village
and let out a proud, echoing
COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!
At that exact moment,
the Sun would begin his majestic rise
over the horizon, painting the sky
with hues of orange, pink, and gold.
Their timing was perfect.
The villagers would awaken with smiles.
The farmers would take their tools
and head to the field. Birds would chirp
joyfully, and children would prepare
for school. Life moved in rhythm
with the Rooster and the Sun.
One day, the Sun called
the Rooster in bed with a warm smile.
Dear friend,
I have to take a journey across
distant lands to check on the season,
but the world still needs its morning.
Tomorrow,
if it's up to you to remind everyone
that I will arrive
right on time.
The Rooster stood tall,
tucked out his chest and replied confidently,
Leave it to me.
I won't let you down.
I'll throw in the break of dawn.
The world will not miss a single ray of hope.
That night,
the village was buzzing with excitement.
There was a grand feast
to celebrate the harvest.
Music, laughter, dancing,
and the aroma of delicious food
filled the air.
The Rooster, being quite popular,
was the life of the party.
He danced, sang,
and feasted with the crowd.
He was having so much fun,
he forgot all about his problems.
By the time the stars faded
and the moon began to yawn,
the Rooster was fast asleep
under a haystack,
snoring softly.
The next morning,
the village was covered in darkness.
The fields were still.
No chirping birds,
no bustling farmers,
no playful children.
Everyone was quiet and vulnerable.
But the Rooster didn't grow.
Far away, the sun looked down
from the sky and was puzzled.
Why is the world still asleep?
Has something gone wrong?
He rushed back and found the village
silent and confused.
The sun gently shined his light
over the hilltops and found the Rooster
still asleep.
The Rooster stirred, opened one eye,
and gasped.
Oh no, I forgot!
I failed!
Ashamed, he bowed his head
with an approach.
Rooster, said the sun, kindly but firmly,
the world counts on it.
Your one delay made many suffer.
The farmers lost time,
the birds missed their song,
and the children began their day
in confusion.
Tears welled up in the Rooster's eyes.
I'm so sorry.
I let down everyone,
especially myself.
The sun placed a warm ray on the Rooster's
feathers and said,
Mistakes happen.
But true responsibility means learning from it.
From now on,
before I rise each day,
you must rise first.
Crow before dawn,
not to wake me,
but to remind yourself and everyone
to be ready.
That is your duty since that day.
The Rooster has never missed a single morning.
Rain or shine,
storm or snow,
his proud crow echoes through the land
just before the sun begins
his climb.
Moral of the story,
punctuality isn't just about
being on time.
It's about honoring your responsibility.
Even one small delay
can ripple through
others' lives.
So be prepared,
keep your promises,
and rise with purpose.
Just like the Rooster who learned his lesson
and became a symbol of discipline
and dedication.
