Steamboat geyser is the world's tallest active geyser, spewing water more than 300 feet into
the sky. Mud, sand, rock, and silica are thrown along with the water, including anything that
might have been in the geyser during the eruption. However, heavy rains have snapped trees,
covered sidewalks at the foot of the hill, and even covered cars in nearby parking lots.
One recent visitor learned that the hard way. Yellowstone National Park is warning visitors
about possible damage to cars from the Steamboat eruption, both online and with signs in the
parking lot.
