You know air impact wrenches are an expensive investment requiring you to have a powerful
air compressor setup with a hose line that can reach any area that you need to work in.
Now this is where cordless impact wrenches shine as they can work pretty much anywhere
and you don't need a fancy air compressor system. You just need a standard run of the
mill battery charger that you can plug into any outlet. Now if you go online it will seem
like there are thousands of different options that you can choose from. But which one should
you choose? Well my mission is to give you the information that you need to make an informed
decision. Hey guys I'm Jim with TechieTechNews and these are the best cordless impact wrenches
of 2025. Now we've reviewed factors like max torque rating, built in technology, weight,
and build quality which has allowed us to select 6 elite units that we think you're going to love.
And don't worry we've added links to all of these models in the video description box below.
So with all of that said let's begin the review.
Milwaukee M18 Fuel 3.8 Inch Drive Best Versatile Impact Wrench
Now our review today does revolve around 1.5 inch drives. But this Milwaukee's M18 Fuel 3.8
mid torque wrench does compete here. Now reviewers used 1.5 inch and 3.8 inch adapters to remove and
replace lug nuts on a Silverado pickup truck. A job it actually easily completed. There were
able to break free large rusty nuts on old farm equipment. Now this impact wrench has 4 mode
settings. The first 3 set up both RPM and IPM with the 3rd hitting max on both. Now the 4th mode
being drive control is fantastic. When driving it limits torque to 35 foot pounds so that there's no
risk of over tightening fasteners. And when removing fasteners it starts off at full torque
then backs off on RPM once the fastener has broken loose. Preventing a full spin run off
of the fastener. Pros and Cons
We love it's capabilities in a smaller form factor. And we really like the tech that drive
control does and think it's actually part of a new standard. However it's still a 3.8 output shaft
along with it's limitations. Final Thoughts
The compact body and 3 LEDs on it's face of the tool make it a good option in tight dark spaces.
Now this is a professional grade tool designed to stand up to daily use. But it could also be
for home owners with frequent projects. If you're a jack of all trades this is definitely the tool
for you. And in the future if you need to find more tech deals simply visit techytechdeals.com
Ingersoll Rand High Torque Half Inch Drive Best Torque Impact Wrench
Ingersoll Rand tools are often found in industrial and commercial applications.
And that's due to their reputation for robust performance and durable construction.
Their half inch high torque 20 volt impact wrench is a good example of this. With an all metal drive
train, steel reinforced handle, and a whopping 1500 foot pounds of nut spinning torque. In fact
there wasn't much that the reviewers could do to challenge this high torques capabilities.
As they didn't have big enough or rusty enough hardware or farm equipment. It differed from
nearly all the other multi mode cordless impact wrenches. In that this one uses a dial mode
selector on the back of the tool head. That means that the selector is always facing you.
Making it easy to see what mode you are in and allowing you to easily select different modes.
Pros and Cons
We really like that big selector mode on the back of the drill. And the amount of
torque this thing generates is heavenly. But she is quite heavy.
Final Thoughts
Now the four modes include hand tight, wrench tight, half power, and full power.
Hand tight is great for snugging up things like lug nuts. While wrench tight cranks down things
to around 100 foot pounds. Which is excellent for putting on your general application wheels.
Now this Ingersoll Rand High Torque Impact Wrench would be ideal for daily use,
or heavy duty use like a truck stop.
DeWALT 20V MAX XR Half Inch Drive Best High Power Impact Wrench
We could tell that the DeWALT 20V MAX XR was a beast upon review.
High torque impact wrenches tend to weigh more because they have beefier components
requiring to handle the forces involved in transferring all that torque.
And this is no exception, weighing in at 7.2 pounds, with one of the two big 5Ah
batteries clipped to the bottom. The heaviest impact wrench on this list.
Now the weight does give the impression that it's a well built design, and it can take some abuse.
Removing lug nuts on a Silverado was seemingly effortless,
the MAX XR breaking them free in a fraction of a second.
Now reviewers tried it on all three speeds, with the highest removing them the fastest.
Now they said they had to get a feel for when to back off the trigger,
and let the tools momentum spit off the nut. Do it too late and the nut can run off
at an extremely high RPM, flying right out of the socket.
Pros and Cons
We like how rugged the unit felt, and the torque was instantaneous,
removing pretty much anything in its path. But you have to control its power to avoid easy runoff.
Final Thoughts
Working on rusty farm equipment seems to be a perfect job for this MAX XR.
The rusted nuts and bolts were no match for it, and the only real issue was being able to reach
some of the obscure bolts and nuts only because the size of the wrench was very large.
Now DeWalt's high torque impact wrench would be a natural fit for the auto,
truck and tractor repair field. So if you are in that field, we would recommend you grab this.
And if you are a real enthusiast, you should probably pick up one of these as well.
Ryobi's 18V1 Plus Half Inch Drive Best Value Impact Wrench
Ryobi's 18V1 Plus hits a price point that's hard to beat, and at the same time accomplishes
everything reviewers demanded of it. When it was used to remove lug nuts,
it impacted for little more than a second before breaking them loose and spitting them off.
And it only took slightly longer when removing rusty bolts on farm implements.
Now reviewers were also able to drive 6 inch lag bolts into pressure treated lumber.
Now while you do lose some torque here, and some tech that the other manufacturers have added to
be competitive, Ryobi foregoes those approaches to offer you something that's more reasonable
in terms of price. Pros and Cons
We liked that the loosening power was more than adequate, and that you get 3 general speeds of
use. However, this motor is not brushless, and will require brush maintenance in the future.
Final Thoughts
We found the 3 speeds were most useful when trying to avoid over tightening fasteners.
Now the lack of having a brushless motor means we wouldn't expect it to stand up well to daily use,
but it is a capable tool that could help you get a lot of projects done around the house.
DEWALT Atomic 20V Max Compact ½ inch Drive Best Compact Impact Wrench
Using DEWALT's Atomic 20V Max in a drive mode optimized for timber screws,
we were able to drive lag bolts just a little faster than with any other mode.
Having the highest torque specs also helped the driving speed.
Now that's a lot of muscle for a tool that only measures less than 5 inches, from tip to tail.
Like the Milwaukee, the Atomic 20V Max has a mode for removing bolts and fasteners that
prevent runoff or over tightening, plus 4 other speed settings. When repeatedly tightening similar
fasteners like lug nuts, we were able to get a feel for getting them within 5-10 foot pounds of spec.
Pros and Cons
It's bolt mode system works great, and it's fast driving when it counts too.
However, this unit seems to be a bit on the loud side.
Final Thoughts
While the DEWALT was the most powerful, it was also the loudest model that we've tested.
But we gotta say, this compact impact wrench is great when you're working in tight spaces.
It's another kind of unit that we would recommend for that guy who's a jack of all trades.
MILWAUKEE M18 Fuel ½ inch Drive Best Overall Impact Wrench
Models like this Milwaukee are heavy hitters when it comes to impact wrenching,
with their bigger size and weight comes with more torque.
And this model pushes out around 1400 foot pounds.
Removing lug nuts on a Silverado was no challenge for this impact wrench,
it barely hesitated when breaking them loose.
Now with 4 modes, 3 different speeds, and a bolt removing mode,
it is easy to set the speed and torque for a job.
And that bolt removal mode is a pleasure to use,
using its technology to back off the speed once you've broken the nut loose,
so that the fastener doesn't run off the end and go flying.
When it came to rusty old bolts on farm equipment,
the M18 broke them free without much effort.
And using the bolt removal mode also helped prevent damage,
causing old rusted fasteners to roll over rusted threads.
PROS & CONS
We love the safety tech built into this model,
its incredible removal power and its settings of speed and torque.
And the battery capacity was also exceptional.
But she is chonky and one of the heaviest units in this list of half inch drives.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The M18 impact wrench is an effective tool for major jobs like heavy farm equipment repair,
industrial maintenance and automotive repair.
This is usually the go-to unit for most car enthusiasts as well.
And if you're in the market for an impact driver,
this would be the one that we'd recommend to the masses.
