Hello dear students, welcome to GDC eTutor YouTube channel.
In this series, we have started a new initiative in which we will clear all the topics related
to deficiency as well as exit examination in very simple language. And all the things will
be seen here in such a detailed manner. Along with this, after every chapter, we also have to see
MCQs here so that you can prepare for your exit exam and all the upcoming competitive examinations.
First of all, let's start with today's first lecture which is going to be Pharmacy Law and
Ethics in your D-Pharmacy 2nd year, which is also known as Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence or
Forensic Pharmacy in other languages. Let's talk about the course code. R20D26TT it means theory.
So from here we will see the theory completely. The first part of chapter 1 will be ours today.
The first lecture will be on General Principles of Laws and Introduction of Pharmaceutical
Jurisdiction. Let's first talk about its syllabus. So we will talk about this official syllabus by
PCI. You can see chapter 1. Let's talk about its topic. General Principles of Laws History
and Various Acts Related to Drugs and Pharmacy Procedure. And in this way, we will move forward
in this order and cover all the topics so that you can prepare completely here. Let's start today.
Here we will only and only see General Principles of Law. First we will know Pharmaceutical
Jurisdiction. We will know Jurisdiction. We will know its General Principles. Why has it been made?
Why are rules and laws more important for us? We have to see all these things here.
Let's first talk about Jurisdiction. Now see, before reading any chapter, before reading any
topic, you have to know its literal meaning. What does that chapter or that word stand for?
If you understand its meaning. If you understand its meaning in one word, then it is guaranteed
that you will understand the whole story. You will understand what is going to happen next.
Just like when you see the title of any story, then from the title you understand that this is
going to happen in the story. This will happen in the movie. Similarly, here also you have to
Here, first of all, let's talk about Jurisprudence. What is Jurisprudence?
See, Jurisprudence means Fundamental Legal Principles. Studying them, which in another
language I say that knowing about your Fundamental Rights, which are your Fundamental Rights,
studying about them, doing research about them, this will be called Jurisprudence.
This is a normal thing. If we talk about law, talk about rules, talk about our Fundamental Rights,
this will be called Jurisprudence. But what will be Pharmaceutical Jurisdiction?
You have to add Pharmacy here. Whenever we talk about Pharmaceutical Jurisdiction,
all the rules and laws that have been made here will be made for any drug.
The rules and laws that will be made for any medicine will be called Pharmaceutical Jurisdiction.
Now how will it be made here sir? How will it be made for drugs?
See, if we talk about our country, there are laws made here for every small thing.
So, in the same way, it has to be made for drugs as well.
Which drugs can you not use? Which drugs can you not import?
Which drugs can you not export? Along with that, which are those medicines?
Which are those drugs that cannot be sold in medical stores without a prescription?
Which are those drugs that we cannot advertise? They cannot be advertised on television or in
any kind of platform. These are prohibited drugs and there are some drugs which are
completely available to you. You can take them. There is no prohibition of any kind there.
It is completely open. There are some drugs which can take your life if used. Poisonous drugs.
So a particular rule is made for such drugs, which are a little harmful for our body.
This rule is made for them that if you are going to make a drug or you are manufacturing it or you
are selling it or you are importing it, exporting it. If you are transporting it from one area to
another. If you transport it by following proper rules and regulations, then you are doing the
transportation in a proper way legally. But if you transfer it illegally, then you will be
charged with smuggling. You must have seen many times in movies that many such custom officers
catch many passengers at the airport. We have to read all these things here. Okay? If you have
violated the rules that you have made here, if you have worked against them, what punishment
will you get for violating them? What penalties will be there here? We have to read all these
things under pharmaceutical jurisdiction. Okay? So you can see this in Hindi as well.
The laws related to medicines and drugs will be your pharmaceutical jurisdiction.
Okay? So you have to keep this in mind and move forward. We will keep remembering.
Now let's see why there is a need to make it. Why is there a need to make these rules and
laws for all the medicines in the pharmacy? First of all, so that our patients get safe
and effective medicines, such medicines that are safe for their body in a proper way.
At the same time, their effect should never decrease. They should show proper effect.
The effectiveness should be good in them. Because in many medical shops or many places,
it happens that even expired medicines are given. So if expired medicines are given,
then their effect will reduce. If the effect is less, then the patient will not respond quickly.
Rules are also made to stop all these illegal practices,
under which you do not have to sell expired medicines. Okay? And all those drugs which
are not in good shape for our body have to be completely banned. This is the main motto.
Secondly, let's talk about what I told you in the beginning, that permitted and prohibited drugs.
Here, the reason behind making this rule is that first of all, the drugs which are completely
prohibited for you, the drugs which you cannot advertise, if their advertisement is happening
somewhere, then it should be stopped immediately. As you must have seen, many times when you are
having too much acidity, take Eno or Eno powder, eat Eno, your acidity will reduce, will be cured
in 6 seconds. Telling like this, have you ever seen this advertisement on television that take
this medicine, your cancer will be cured? No, this cannot happen. The government of India has
completely banned the advertisement of such medicines. We can never advertise them. Okay?
So rules have been made for all these things so that no one can advertise such drugs.
Let's see the next. What is coming now? These are the remedies for our medicines. Along with this,
pharmacists should also get proper responsibilities. Pharmacists should also understand their
responsibilities very well. Because the pharmacist who runs a pharmacy plays a very important role
for the patient. If he dispenses any wrong medicine, then there can be complications
with the patient. Our patient can die. So what should be the rules for a pharmacist?
What are the responsibilities of a pharmacist? Like if he is working in a medical shop,
then making a proper list of all the expired medicines is his priority. Telling them all
these things. Along with this, labeling the prescription properly or the packages of our
products. You must have seen this many times that if you take any medicine or suspension,
it is written in it, sake well before use. These are important instructions.
In all these, whether these instructions are written properly or not, wherever they are needed,
keeping all these things in mind in the prescription, checking all these things,
this will be the main rule behind this law. This will be the reason behind making it. Okay?
Then let's talk about whatever mistakes or whatever penalties there are for them,
crime and punishment. If I talk about Hindi language, if you take each word in Hindi,
then you will remember it properly. Instead of all this content, look at one Hindi word,
you have understood the crime and punishment. If someone works against the rules that have
been made and opposes them, then it will be called a crime and what punishment is given for that
crime. What punishment has been decided for it? We have to study all these things under
pharmaceutical jurisdiction. Is it clear? So, it should be clear till here that what all we will
have to study. What will be important for us here? So, when we move ahead, then we will look at its
history portion in a better way. Here you have to solve a question which can be important for you
from the exit exam point of view. Pay attention. Who initiated the pharmacy education in India?
Who was the guru of pharmacy education in India or who started it?
Those who started it are also considered its guru. Professor Mahadev Lal Sarau, Professor Nityanand,
Professor R. N. Chopra or Professor G. N. Ghosh. So, what will be the correct answer for all of
you here? Professor Mahadev Lal Sarauji. Yes, he was the first to start it in BHU pharmacy B phase.
Course was first started in BHU. For this reason, he is also known as the father of pharmacy
education in India. Okay, let's go and you will find all these contents on the GDC classes app.
