That was an experience. A lot more than a haircut.
Good morning guys. Welcome back to a brand new day.
Start off the vlog with a punch in the face.
Oh, it's classic. There we are. Thank you guys. I hope you're all doing well.
Welcome back to another video.
We've just finished our lovely breakfast at Seder and we are heading to meet
lots of people today actually.
We've got a little bit of a friend meetup happening right now.
We're going to get some drinks at a cafe in BGC.
Then later on today,
George is getting a haircut and he hasn't had a haircut in Manila for many years.
He usually has his like trusty barbers in the UK, but he said he really wants a
haircut. He's jealous of my salon day, my mani pedi, my haircut.
He's feeling jealous and he wants some pampering himself. Just quickly,
if you guys are watching this, obviously on YouTube, I was going to say,
obviously you're watching, actually all Facebook, these go on Facebook as well,
but we'd love you guys to follow us on Instagram as well if you're not already.
I'm trying to get to a hundred K. I'm nearly, well not nearly,
I've got like thousands to go, but a hundred K is creeping up on us.
Um, so if you guys can help me out, I mean, George is way off a hundred K,
but get him up to the next milestone as well. That'd be good.
Yeah. Get me to a thousand followers. That'd be great.
Quick outfit of the day. It's a hot one today. It's like 34 degrees.
So I've got some denim shorts. They're like, um,
they look more like cutoff jeans. They're quite long.
And then a little white top. I've got a sticker sleeve,
which is apparently quite on trend right now. Um, Koda said it was anyway.
So I've got a zoo arm, as he's called it.
And then the boys are in their khaki today, matching.
We just got to where we're meeting and it's so nice.
We were going to sit inside,
but the sun isn't shining in this bit and it's really breezy.
So even though it's like 33 degrees,
more than happy to sit outside in it. Um, I think we're a bit early for once,
which is odd. Do you want to climb on this Koda? But yeah,
we've got like 10 minutes.
So we'll just let Koda run around and then hopefully he'll just chill when
everyone gets here. But we met somewhere here with an outside area.
So that if we do need to run around with him,
we've got that option because sit down, formal meals, not happening right now.
It's all right.
Very close. Nearly hit someone.
So just having a nice catch up with everyone here.
Got a really nice table outside and it's kind of in the shade.
It's a little bit breezy. We've got some drinks and stuff.
Mike has decided to take the kids toys and just play with them himself.
You guys have been using it incorrectly. I'll show you. Oh, okay.
I'll show you the fun way. Okay, sure.
Straight ahead of someone.
Yeah. Go. Whoa. Nice.
A little bit better aim and we'll have some real fun.
Koda's got a few blisters on his feet, blessing from his new sandals.
So we were wondering, he wanted me to carry him all the way down here.
And usually that's either a sign of him getting a little bit ill or he's too
tired.
But then we realized that he didn't want to walk because of his blisters.
So he's just chilling here.
Koda, do you remember my day? Yeah. Yeah.
Oh yeah.
They would just go off light everywhere.
Kids, you can have a go in a minute.
Why do I have to be the mischievous one? It's in your nature.
Hey guys,
just want to jump in here very quickly and share the sponsor of today's video,
which is this, the Leifen Wave electric toothbrush.
Now I want to show you inside this box and give you guys a rundown of some of
the features. There's going to be a link below if anyone wants to check it out.
So a normal electric toothbrush has like a single action,
which means the rotation is basically only like 20 degrees.
And whereas this can actually rotate 60 degrees.
The actual movement is quite different to your regular electric toothbrush that
you may have seen before. So it rotates and vibrates at the same time,
meaning it's three times more powerful. The handle is a single piece,
really resists water and any dirt,
meaning it's perfect as a little travel companion.
And there's three different settings with 10 different levels.
And there's actually an app you can download,
sync up your toothbrush with it, which allows you to then customize it.
So I'm pairing mine right now. It says here, the device is connecting.
Super easy. It came up straight away when I searched for it.
And it basically means that you can set up your different modes.
So you've got three modes along the bottom just here,
and it's totally customizable.
So you can see I'm like dragging the slider across here to change things like
the oscillation speed, the oscillation range, and the vibration strength.
It's also got a little 30 second reminder on here so that you can keep an eye on
how long you've been brushing your teeth for. And it is extra soft.
So you can see there the bristles are nice and soft. It's gum friendly.
And the brush heads are reasonably priced as well.
So when it's time to replace it,
you don't have to spend a huge amount of money to get your new head.
It fully charges in two and a half hours and it's actually got a three times
wider rotation.
So basically it's easier to get to the places that might sometimes be harder to
clean. So thanks again to Lathan for sponsoring this video.
So I'm waving this around like some sort of magic wand.
I better put it down. Please feel free to check out the link below if you're
interested. Thanks for listening to this little section of the vlog.
But let's get back to wherever George and Lucy are right now.
Oh, that's good.
That doesn't land on the roof.
Did you get that? I caught it.
Oh, did you?
Please tell me you recorded that.
It's a wide angle lens. There's a possibility we caught it.
Oh.
Okay, Mike, up you go.
George will give you a leg up.
Let me get the drone.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right. We are leaving. It's getting very hot.
I've got a haircut.
Have you filmed any of this?
I filmed a little bit. I filmed Mike playing with the toys.
With the kids toys.
Classic Mike.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Great to see you guys.
I think we're going to see you again soon, hopefully.
Yeah, cool.
If you guys want to hear more about the physics of the toy,
we'd love to.
Let me know.
Like old times say.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Definitely.
Then we can have a Mike's physics quiz.
What was it? What was it?
Mike's physics quiz.
Does it have a theme tune?
A little scientist used to walk across the screen.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I need to find that. I've probably got it somewhere.
Okay, that was so nice meeting up with so many people to send.
So Christina from Livin La Vida Tagalog.
Is that how you say it?
Because I don't want to mess this up.
We've never...
I think we met...
We bumped into her once years ago.
We haven't seen her for ages.
And we've never really hung out with her and her family.
So that was really cool.
And then obviously Mike and Gray.
And then also Diana, who's Christina's friend,
who we actually met originally in Siargao.
There's all these connections.
And her little boy, Phoenix, is three.
And him and Koda were just so adorable together.
If you're wondering why I'm holding Koda's shoes,
he's not wearing them.
Because he's got blisters, bless him.
So George is having to carry him all the way back.
Keeping us strong.
George strong, I'm not carrying him.
Well, I'm carrying a heavy camera.
It's about the same weight.
And it was so sweet.
Phoenix just randomly looked at Koda and said,
I think I love this baby.
And they were singing Wind the Bobbin up together.
Playing tag and playing hide and seek.
And it's really nice for Koda to have a baby or a child with him.
They're like a similar age.
They can play together.
So we're going to have another little play date with them soon, I think.
Anyway, back at the hotel.
George is dropping us.
Koda's going to take a nap.
I'm going to get some editing done.
And George is actually going to go for his haircut now.
And I think he's going to take you guys with him.
So we'll see you when George is having his haircut.
This is the first time that I've walked out on my own in this whole trip.
Which is quite nice.
I think it's important to have some alone time.
When we travel, we're always together.
There's always a lot going on.
So Lucy got her haircut a few days ago.
And today it is my turn.
Now I did get a haircut.
Here's my theory.
I got a haircut around two weeks ago when we left the UK.
I thought it would see me through for this whole trip.
However, I woke up yesterday and I thought,
My hair is so...
I need to figure out where I'm going.
Where am I going?
My hair is so...
This way.
My hair is so bushy.
My hair feels extra long.
I think in this heat and humidity, my hair is volumised.
And it's longer than it is in the UK.
That's my theory.
I don't know how scientific that theory is.
But I'm rolling with it, guys.
I'm going to head to the barber shop.
What's it called?
Back Alley Barbers.
That's the one.
In BGC.
Booked a little appointment there for 4 in 4 minutes.
So I need to get there.
And we're just going to get freshened up, guys.
We're going to get a little fade.
A little skin fade.
Low fade.
Keep this a little bit longer.
But just freshen it up.
Get it out of my face.
It's starting to come down into my eyes a little bit.
And it's super hot in this temperature.
Because we're about to be going to some islands and stuff.
I didn't want to just be completely...
I didn't want to be completely boiled every day of this island trip.
So I'm just...
Thank you.
Alright.
Still trying to remember how to cross the road here.
Without upsetting anyone.
So we're at least going to do...
Just a little bit shorter all around.
I usually get like a low fade.
A low fade?
Yeah.
So like zero here.
And then just a little bit off the top.
So I've got like the previous...
My previous haircut was like this.
Alright.
Thank you so much.
Just haircut.
Thank you.
Yeah, just haircut.
Thank you.
You're the best.
Thank you.
This door.
I did that on the way in.
Wrong door.
Well, there we go, guys.
Fresh.
Fresh cut.
What do we think?
I love Filipino barbers.
That was an experience.
A lot more than a haircut.
Let's have a little debrief here.
I'd like to check it out.
Exactly what I wanted out of my eyes.
Nice fade.
Hopefully the back looks good.
I can't really see.
But yeah.
Such...
I can't explain how much of a different experience that is than going to get a haircut in the UK.
Really nice guy as well.
The barber in there did such a good job.
I've never had a bad haircut in the Philippines.
I've had several.
No, what?
Okay.
Being transparent and open and honest on this channel, as we always are, I've had one
bad haircut in the Philippines, but it was probably my communication that was the error.
It was years ago.
There was a guy, older guy, like in his 60s maybe, but I think he gave me more of a traditional
haircut.
Like, I like to like fade my hair, like have it shorter here and then it gets longer, but
he basically made both my sides like the same length.
But apart from that, I've always had really, really good experiences with haircuts in the
Philippines.
You just get so much more here.
And especially for the price, it's less than, less than half of what I pay in the UK.
And in the UK, you just get a haircut.
Here I got in, I got seated to the chair.
They wash your hair before and after.
So I've got like no loose hairs.
I normally come away from a barber, like all hair all over my face, in my clothes, in my
neck.
And like for the next day or two, there's just like hair everywhere.
But every Filipino barber I've been to has just seemed to be super skilled.
And as you saw at the end, I even got a massage.
So like when he was washing my hair, I don't know, when a professional washes your hair,
that in itself felt like a massage.
I was like, oh, this is nice.
When I'm in the shower myself, I'm just like.
But then at the end, he like laid the chair back, put like scented towels all over my
face, left my nose out so I can breathe, and gave me like a full kind of up to my shoulders
and down my arm massage, which was so nice.
Proper head massage, face.
And it's just, going for a haircut here is like a kind of self-care exercise in itself.
It's far more of an event.
And it was 550 pesos.
And then I tipped the barber separately 150.
So like under 10 pounds we're talking for that quality experience.
Yeah, that's why I love getting my haircut here.
If you wanted that in London, it's like a haircut and a wash, two washes, and like a
massage at the end, you'd be talking like 60, 70 pounds, easy or more, maybe 100 pounds
upwards for that kind of salon experience.
But eight or nine pounds here, unbelievable.
So thank you to the guys.
Back alley, BGC.
Didn't get, oh, I didn't get the name of my barber.
We were chatting.
He was from BGC.
Didn't get his name, but you saw him on the vlog.
So shout out to you, sir.
Thank you so much for the trim.
Now we are fresh for the islands.
I'm now, as I'm out on my own, I've still got a little bit of time because Koda's having
his nap.
Going to go and check out the brand new Arabica store, which, so look, I don't know like politics
or the kind of, I don't know if there is any, I'm saying like controversy, maybe there's
no controversy, maybe there's no competitiveness whatsoever, but with the old Arabica store
closing down and Ancan kind of opening up, I think it was just like a contract came to
at the end on a building.
I don't know.
Anyway, there's a brand new Arabica store just here next to Gentle Monster on the high
street opposite Harlan and Holden.
So a little bit of hopefully friendly competition for them.
But I haven't been here yet.
You can see it over in the distance, just there.
And apparently the Arabica sign, the Arabica logo apparently is not a percentage sign guys.
It is apparently a tree with coffee cherries.
I need to put some product in my hair.
The wind's blowing it all over the place.
With some coffee plants like either side of it.
I don't know.
I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I heard recently.
Okay.
That is not the entrance.
Ah, here's the entrance.
Okay.
That was the exit.
Hey.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Wow.
I need to sort this out.
Get some powder in it.
Well, this is very nice.
Oh, it's massive.
This looks more like the one in Dubai that we saw.
Okay.
I'm back at the apartment.
Hotel room.
It's kind of an apartment, mini apartment.
A little bit of product in my hair.
Still need to, for me, a couple of days after my haircut, like I need to wash it and get
it to exactly how I want it.
Anyway, Lucy approves of the haircut.
Monster Mike.
Did you see Mike today?
No.
Did you?
Mike and?
Gray.
Yes.
Good memory.
Lucy seems to already be in island vibes.
We're going to go to the pool here.
I'm not just lounging around.
I'm sorry.
Do I just have my dream life right in front of me?
Beautiful son, my beautiful fiancee in a bikini cooking steak and drinking Arabica coffee.
Is this, am I in a dream right now?
Well, maybe.
Is it nice?
You're a steak boy.
Can I have a fork?
So what we do have for lunch, we've got some chicken and we have a ribeye steak each.
Beautiful.
So we've stepped out to get a little bit of food.
If you know us, you know what we're getting.
Something we haven't had yet.
Watch this space down that way.
It's delicious.
But we've just noticed that they've got this kind of a Chinese new year kind of set up
and they've got all the animals from the Chinese calendar tells you what to expect this year
basically.
It told me to have another baby.
It told George that he...
What did it say about you?
It said stop spending money on coffee all the time.
And it said Cody's going to find a girlfriend.
It said lower your expenses and increase your income.
Not a bad idea.
And yeah, it said Koda is going to...
It said single men will find a partner.
But Koda's found loads of girlfriends in the Philippines so far.
He seems to just kind of chop and change.
I guess he's a little bit too young to settle down.
So that's fine.
Who's that?
Wake up!
Now, if you've watched the channel a lot, you may...
You would have heard me say this when we're in BGC, but the evening, the early evening,
people finish work, families come out, people get food, people get drinks, people get coffee.
It's a little bit cooler.
It goes to that kind of golden light, that kind of golden hour, which is so nice for
video and photos.
And it's just...
I'm going to come out with a statement right now.
I think this is the most peaceful city I've been to.
Like it's a big city.
Skyscrapers everywhere.
Every shop you could ever imagine, think of, restaurants, the lot.
Like everything's going on.
It's busy.
Somehow, personally, I find peace here.
I find happiness here.
And I wouldn't say I have that in any other city.
Not that it's a negative.
So, for example, in London, I would not say I find happiness and peace.
I'm very happy when I'm in London.
I love London, but I find it very...
I don't know.
I think it's something to do with the pace.
London is so fast-paced.
Even when we're in Tokyo, it's fast-paced.
Here, I think it's...
I think that's what it is.
I'm kind of...
As I'm talking to you, I'm kind of...
My brain's ticking over.
I'm trying to come out with what I'm trying to say, but I think it is the pace.
No one is really, really rushing around here.
Everyone's kind of seemingly chilled and relaxed.
And maybe it is something to do more with this time of day.
But do you agree?
Did you hear any of that?
No.
I didn't hear any of it.
I was saying, despite the size, and this is a big city, I find that it's quite peaceful
here.
Yes.
And I said...
I don't know if I can use the word peaceful.
I don't know what you mean, but I don't think it's peaceful.
Really?
Or, I feel peaceful and chilled.
It's calming.
Calm.
I don't think it's peaceful.
I think it's calm.
And I said, I think it's because people aren't rushing around as much.
It's not busy.
Good news.
We are...
We decided, last minute decision, to get a Shake Shack this evening, and there's like
two people in the queue.
Amazing.
Okay, we've gone for...
Do we even say we're doing this?
Yeah.
Okay.
We're doing this.
Georgia's got the...
I love this part, the crispy edges.
A double Shack burger, which is like the regular one.
And I've gone for the single Smoke Shack, which has got the bacon and the chillies in it.
I'm really hungry.
And I feel like I've not eaten many carbs this trip.
I don't know what's going on, but I've not had much rice yet, which is obviously a problem.
So hopefully that's going to change soon, but that's all right, I'm just doing this.
Hang on.
Let me just have a quick taste test.
Nice and hot.
So good.
We have Shake Shack in the UK, of course, but we never eat it there.
We only have it here, so we really associate Shake Shack with BGC, and it's cheaper here,
which is a bonus.
Going to tuck in.
This coffee shop, if you remember the old school vlogs, this shop gives me so much nostalgia.
This was mine and Lucy's daily stop in.
The amount of flat whites I've drunk off this machine is endless.
We used to get food here, Lucy.
I was just saying, how nostalgic.
Look at Daddy look.
Cool.
You like the music?
Actually, this is the first time Koda's been in here, I think.
I don't know if we came on the last trip.
Really?
I was just saying, how nostalgic is this coffee shop?
This reminds me of when we just moved into our...
No, we had a viewing for our Grand Hamptons apartment.
Yeah.
And we came here, we had jet lag.
We came here at like six in the morning, had avocado toast.
Yeah.
Really bleary-eyed.
Hundreds of times.
Had to make a decision about our condo.
We don't know anyone here now.
It's super friendly, but we don't know anyone here now.
But when we lived here, we knew every single staff member in this Toby's.
If there's anyone who worked here and still watches, hello to you.
Hi guys.
What did you eat?
Orange.
Orange?
Was it yummy?
Thank you very much.
That's great.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
That's great.
Thank you.
What's this?
What's that?
Coffee.
I made one crucial mistake.
I should have asked for it short.
I usually get the short flat white.
Remember, Toby's, you have to ask for a short flat white.
Never mind.
Oh, it's still really good.
Yeah.
I remember that taste.
Oh, that was nice.
We just bumped into our friends when we were looking at Coop over there,
which we just noticed has closed down.
So, please let us know if they've just relocated
because we were just going to head in there to get some late night snacks,
but they seem to have closed down, which is really sad.
Hopefully, they've just relocated.
So, if anyone knows, please leave a comment.
Okay, we've ended up doing a lot of walking today.
Cody's done very well.
He's done all the walking himself.
And as I was saying to George,
I feel like the amount of walking he's doing here compared to in England
is, like, crazy.
In England, we don't go out all day and walk around all day.
We're, like, often at home or in the car more.
But here, it's just, like, walking all day.
So, he's done so well.
Oh, look, a bin lorry, Coda.
Your favourite.
Quick, quick, quick, quick.
There's a bike.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
But I'm very tired as well now.
And it's my gym day.
So, I still need to get a workout in today at the gym at the hotel.
So, I might take you guys along for that.
But now, yeah, heading back to the room.
I'm going to get...
Sorry, one sec.
Gosh, that was loud.
Yeah, I might...
Get Coda some dinner and then get him down to bed.
And then, yeah, I'll go to the gym.
But, yeah, just literally in the high street.
Now, we're back at the hotel at Seder.
Best location.
So, I'm very happy we're staying here on this part of the trip.
