Hey ATS fam, our Western Star people love a little bling bling.
Hey, everyone. Welcome to another episode.
Today we are here in this sunny weather in Cleveland, North Carolina
at the Diamond Truck North America Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant.
Goddamn, that's a long name.
And today I had the opportunity
to do a walk around of this amazing truck for you.
Oh, hey, everyone.
This is Alex Wan from Western Star.
I'm the brand marketing specialist,
and I will do the walk around of this gorgeous 49X for you.
What we're looking at here is a 49X Step Forward Western Star.
It has a 48 inch sleeper in the mid roof style, and it is absolutely gorgeous.
So the importance of the 49X is that it was the first truck
that Western Star introduced of the X-Series lineup, and it was launched in 2020.
And it is a completely redesigned Western Star truck built from the ground up,
but still has that legendary toughness that Western Star is absolutely known for.
So let's go through a couple of the awesome things about this great truck.
As we know, our Western Star people love a little bling bling.
And so because of that, everything that you see here that is bright work
is not chromed out plastic.
No way. It is all real brushed aluminum or stainless steel.
Come on up. Let's take a look at this.
So what people do when they first see our truck in real life
is they go up and touch it,
give it a little rattle and they walk back and go, yeah,
that's stainless steel. That's my Western Star.
Some of the areas that you see for bright work that are stainless steel
and brushed aluminum is here, the bumper.
We said the grill here, which is radiator mounted.
Also, our visors.
And also one of my favorite pieces of the truck, the air intake.
It's not just the bright work that you can see
that is also stainless steel and brushed aluminum.
We've also integrated stainless steel in key strategic places
with inside this aluminum cab, which allows for it to be more lightweight,
which increases a driver's payload while also still having that legendary
durability that Western Star is known for.
You have your A pillar and your B pillar have strategically integrated
stainless steel reinforcement.
Also, your back wall here has key areas that are placed.
And then also the door.
This door is rugged steel, which allows for it to be really durable,
because as we know with our drivers,
these trucks are not meant to just have a nice, easy life.
They're meant to do a job and work.
These doors have been slammed enough times
to be slammed every single day to last you over 15 years.
This is the kind of test that we did for all of our trucks
to make sure Western Star can look good and get the job done.
Another great feature of the X-Series is the light and easy to open hood.
We were able to remove nearly 100 pounds from this hood,
and we also developed a new ISO Tech hood suspension,
which allows this hood to stay durable on the off road environments,
but keeping the hood stable.
So from a driver's eye point, they get less fatigued from it.
Show you guys how easy this hood is to open.
I will do it for you guys, and I promise I do not work out that often.
One of the new distinctive features of the 49X
and actually all of our X-Series is this air intake.
There is LED lighting right here that gives a beautiful amber glow.
And as we know with Western Star, you want to make sure people know
that you're driving one in the daytime and at nighttime.
And they will 100% know that you are in a brand new X-Series
when this truck rolls by.
Another great feature of our X-Series product is our dual stage heated LED lights.
As you can see here with the grid,
this turns on the heating element as soon as our truck is below freezing.
It also when there is humidity, it will turn on to help get condensation out.
This allows you to always have great visibility
on any job site in any environment.
That's the Western Star way.
Hey, Daniel, you ready to get into this bad boy?
Oh, yeah, let's go. Let's take a look.
At Western Star, we like to make sure our trucks look good
on the outside as much as they do on the inside.
As you get into here and look around, you know, this isn't your typical
daily driver truck.
This is a Western Star truck.
It's always going to be a step above to make sure you get the job done right
while also feeling really proud of your ride.
So what we have here is a great ergonomic dash.
This allows you to sit here, reach over to the HVAC controls very easily.
They can promise you the AC works fantastic.
You can also have here is what we call the flex panel.
People can install tablets, electric driver logs, body controls.
If your truck is being upfitted with, say, like a dump truck or mixer or whatnot,
they can install those right here.
These are our rocker switches.
They can go up and down.
They have great guards right here.
That way, you know, if you have your gloves on,
you're getting in and out from a job site.
You know exactly which button you are pressing.
Our new steering wheel here is multifunction.
You're able to control various areas in the driver command center
just from these buttons here.
This allows our drivers to keep the hands on the wheels and eyes on the roads.
You can adjust your cruise control.
You can take phone calls.
And if you have a PTO install, so a power takeoff, like I said,
if you have a mixer or a dump truck,
you can actually control the speed logic through the buttons here.
