#Travel Discovery Princess Review Ep 01 Boarding and Cabin Tour | Discovery Princes Cruise Review 2025
Discovery Princess is a Royal-class cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc. The 145,000 GT-vessel was ordered in January 2017 with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and her steel-cutting was performed on 14 February 2019 in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy.
Originally expected to begin operations in November 2021, the ship saw her construction and subsequent delivery delayed amid the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation. She was delivered to Princess on 28 January 2022 and became the company's sixth and final Royal-class cruise ship in the Princess fleet. Discovery Princess operated her week-long inaugural voyage on 27 March 2022 from her debut homeport of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera and moved to Seattle during her maiden summer deployment to cruise the Inside Passage.
Discovery Princess measures 145,000 GT and has a length of 330.0 metres (1,082.7 ft), a draft of 8.49 metres (27.9 ft), and a beam of 38.38 metres (125.9 ft). She is powered by a diesel-electric genset system, with four total Wärtsilä engines, producing a total output of 62.4 megawatts (83,700 hp). Main propulsion is via two propellers, each driven by a 18 megawatts (24,000 hp) electric motor. The system gives the vessel a service speed of 21.9 knots (40.6 km/h; 25.2 mph) and a maximum speed of 23 knots (43 km/h; 26 mph). The ship houses 1,830 passenger cabins and 757 crew cabins. Of the 1,830 passenger cabins, 81% have a balcony. The ship has a maximum capacity of 5,800 passengers and crew.[4] By https://www.youtube.com/@365sol.travel
We're headed to the cruise terminal for Princess Cruise.
And where are we headed?
The Mexican Riviera.
The Mexican Riviera, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.
I've never been to some of those places, so this will be a first.
We've been to Cabo, enjoyed it very much.
I like it a lot.
So let's see what the rest of it has to offer.
And let's see what Princess is like.
Alright, we'll see you on the ship.
Let's go get Princess.
Are you going to come?
So it's day two at sea.
We actually have moved in, obviously, yesterday.
But we didn't get to show you the full room, and we want to go ahead and do that.
Because why?
Because we were really tired.
It was a long travel day yesterday.
We were really tired when we showed up yesterday.
Because we got up at one in the morning on West Coast time.
And by the time we got here, everything was tiring.
So we're in room C-206, and that is on the 10th floor.
So the numbering is a little bit weird, but C-206 is our room number.
So let's check it out.
That's our awesome steward.
He's already been taking care of us.
I'm going to show you what he did for us once we get inside.
Thank you.
So we're going to show you something really cool with our room.
Princess, is when you just approach her door, it unlocks for you.
So you see it says it's unlocked.
We didn't have to do anything.
Okay, come on in.
So one of the things about Princess is there's actually this huge closet
that I've never seen on any other ship, even in the bigger ships that we've been on
and the suites that we've stayed on.
So you've got plenty of space for all your stuff.
And this is only a week trip, and obviously we can't even fill it up.
And then you've got another closet here for there's a safe and a place to put all your stuff.
And then so obviously lots of place for your shoes and everything.
And I don't feel like you're feeling like everything's on top of each other
and you can't find everything.
Let's check out the room.
So we did stay here last night.
And I have to say that bed preferences are different for everybody.
Paul and I happen to like softer beds, and this bed is very hard.
So if you like hard beds, then you'll like the beds at Princess.
But they were too hard for us, so we asked our steward to go ahead
and give us a soft topper for our bed so that we could sleep tonight.
And so he did that, and I'm super excited.
And now you can see the bed looks super squishy, so we'll see how it sleeps this evening.
And he said that if it's still too hard, he'll give us a second topper.
So that's really awesome service.
So appreciate that.
The bed here is really big.
I think it says it's a queen, but it's definitely like a king-size bed.
Or you can break it down to the two twins.
It's got nightstands on either side, which is great.
Princess also has this thing over here where there's a motion-censored light.
So in the middle of the night when you wake up and you're in a strange room
and you don't know where you are and you put your foot out of bed,
there's a soft nightlight sort of thing that comes on in the room so you can see everything.
And I thought that was really nice.
Instead of looking for a nightlight switch.
Yeah, instead of can't-find-anything tripping over suitcases and stuff.
So I thought that was a really nice touch.
Then they have a little desk here.
They have a mirror for a makeup mirror and everything.
And then on this side, they have a fridge, which comes completely empty.
Just so you know, there's nothing in it.
But they do have a fridge there if you want to bring stuff back or keep water bottles.
You can do that.
On some of your package, your water bottles are free, and we'll talk more about that later.
And then there's actually a very large balcony out here.
And this is their standard room.
So this is not an extra big balcony room or anything.
And it looks like this.
And just, I wanted to show you that in fact,
if you're sitting here and you want to relax, there's actually a bit of a lounge chair.
So you can actually kind of chill out on your balcony a bit if you want to.
We are sailing, we believe this is the Baja Peninsula.
We came out of Los Angeles, heading down to Cabo San Lucas.
And I'm going by the Baja Peninsula there, and it's really pretty.
So we're like hugging the coast.
Yeah, we're hugging the coastline.
This is our room at Princess.
It does look like a margarita.
Yeah, right?
Good afternoon everybody, hello!
The beautiful Discovery Princess.
How are you feeling?
I'm good.
Good sense of the energy we have on board already.
I am going to ask the gardeners, are you ready?
Yeah!
The beautiful Princess on offer.
The beautiful Mexican Reina.
I am aware that a lot of you have come from far and wide to join us today.
So happy to have you here.
