Hey everybody we've got a fantastic father-son drag race because in a previous video our 2014
Mustang 5.0 took on the GR Corolla and the GR Corolla lost. Well today dad I brought another
boosted high-performance Japanese car the new Acura Integra Type S and I'm ready for a rematch.
So you think that I'm going down driving this classic American muscle to that brand new Japanese
front-wheel drive sports car. Yeah I wouldn't call it classic used maybe slightly tired but yes I
think the Integra's got a good shot of winning. And I wouldn't call that a sports car since it's
front-wheel drive. Whatever whatever let's go hit the strip. I think this is going to be a lot closer
than you guys think and to find out which of these two let's call them sporty cars is the best
performer we're going to do three things we're going to do a drag race we're going to do a rolling
race and we're going to do a brake test. Hey guys Roman here this video is sponsored by Factor.
Now I have been a long time satisfied customer of HelloFresh except there's a problem and that is I
don't like to cook. Well Factor has solved that problem from the same people that bring you
HelloFresh and that's these fresh never frozen meals ready to eat that make eating well so much
easier. Now recently I've decided to go veggie to slim down a little bit so I've chosen the
vegetarian plan which gives you great foods like black bean rice enchilada bowl and get this
spicy sweet potatoes and peanut sauce and they even give you smoothies. Oh gosh strawberry banana
gotta try it yum strawberry and banana my two favorite flavors. Meals ready in just two minutes
in the microwave. Factor features a range of diet focused meals like calorie smart menu with roughly

tangy, delicious. That's really good. You know there's a saying Tommy and it goes like this
people buy horsepower but they drive torque and I've got both. I've got 420 horsepower
and 390 pound foot of torque. And the rear suspension that was designed by the Romans
solid axle that on a 2014 Mustang. What are they thinking? All right let me ask you how much is that
integral cost? That's like a low $50,000 range and after markups like 75 80. Yeah we bought this
recently for 22,500. I've got twice as much car for half the price. Yeah but I've got the K20
C1 2 liter turbocharged engine that makes over 300 horsepower. 320 horsepower 310 pound feet
of torque. Oh yeah well I've got the S197 Mustang dude with the classic 5 liter coyote. Yeah but
you're also several hundred pounds heavier and that car is going on 10 years old with some
60,000 more miles. Yeah we're also at a mile above sea level which doesn't exactly help naturally
aspirated engines. Now for those of you out there thinking oh this is a terrible race these cars
don't compete. Three letters for you F.U.N. This is just a fun Tommy Roman drag race to see uh
which one of us can get to the end of the quarter quicker. I thought I'm glad you added that
end Tommy. Just thank you. Okay dad well I've gone into sport plus mode in this Integra Type S.
I've got my traction control off. I've got this beautiful six-speed manual transmission
and um I've got that that feisty little turbo under the hood. All right I'm in sport mode
traction control off. I just had two tic tacs so I'm all sugared up and I'm gonna start us
uh three two one go. You good with that? Wait I gotta I gotta drink my uh my race milk here one
second. Nothing like warm milk on a hot summer's day. All right ready to go.
Pulling up three two one go. Bye-bye. Got a good launch.
Oh man it bogged off the line in the second
and the third. Oh we gotta do that again and Tommy is so far behind me. American muscle
for the win. All the accurate people are gonna hate me online.
That was terrible dad we gotta do that again. All right let's do it again.
This car is actually I mean I know all the comms are gonna say I'm just terrible at this but this
car is very tricky to launch because if you go too high too aggressive with the clutch it just
roasts the front tires too low and it just bogs but that was that was just a terrible time 1588
at 95 miles an hour. I won't even tell you my time I won't want to embarrass you. Let's show dad
who's boss come on Acura. I know you weren't necessarily designed for this but you can do
better. All right once again I'll go three two one go here we go three
one go. Oh he got me off the line.
Oh got it off the line a little bit better in a second. It's second man can do 60 miles an hour
in the third. Good shift in the third. That's 60 psi of boost in the fourth.
Oh no he took me across the line. All right.
That was uh 14.75. Good race my man what'd you do? That was a 15.79 at 96.1 miles an hour.
That was 14.75 at 101 miles an hour um and you know for all you sea little folk
just subtract the second. Yeah here's the really frustrating thing about these videos right is
it makes us seem like terrible drivers but the high elevation really has such an enormous impact
on the times I mean it's between a second and a second and a half off sea level times in the
quarter so um you know this car can be low 14s all day long at sea level but up here it's going
to be mid to high 15s. Yeah I know you know we read the comments and sometimes I think people
don't understand also what a non-prep surface does right this is a very old airfield
loose and it's hard to get a good launch. But anyways you know this is a very impressive
little engine it makes a strong wide kind of push of torque right in the heart of the rev range
and it actually sounds pretty cool as well so I mean obviously the Integra Type S is not
a vehicle that's designed per se for straight line drag racing but it actually does it quite well.
Yeah I mean given that it's front wheel drive those are always tricky to launch
it's much better to have you know the weight of the car push the rear wheels down give you
better traction than to you know basically pull the front wheels up which is what happens when
you shift in a front wheel drive car. What are you doing all the way up there? All right I'm coming
back coming back you know you could you could have came forward instead of me going back.
I'm getting every advantage I can here dad. All right let's roll to 30 and then I'll go three
two one go. Here we go accelerating up to 30 I'm gonna get the car in second that's about
3300 rpm that should be right in the torque range. Three two one go!
Oh much closer by the time he shifts I just fly ahead. Oh no it's still some lag!
Oh but it took off faster than that 5.0 quick shift to the third! Come on Integra!
Lights flashing at red line in the fourth!
You're already close about um just over 100 across the line. That was very close Tommy.
Yeah you know um your automatic hit the downshift figure out what to do this fantastic six-speed
manual in this type s you just lock that puppy in a second a little bit of turbo lag even at
3000 rpm took a hot sec for the turbo to spool up but gave me the full enchilada and it was a
good race. Yeah but I can't get over the fact that I could buy this Tommy and a Civic Si for
the price of that. Yeah that's true but I'm gonna smoke you on this brake test dad this is not gonna
even be a competition. All right here we go dad so we're accelerating up to 60 miles an hour
and then hard on the brakes.
All right I got 60 miles an hour there. Me too. Oh yeah nice work!
Um I do believe this side of the track Tommy has some ice on it. Uh-huh yeah it's about 100
degrees out here but you're blaming the ice huh? You've never heard of summer black ice
very hard to see. All right we go to the front wheel oh my 130 feet. Yeah but what tires look
at that I've got all season RSAs here you do yours and then we'll see what kind of tires you have.
How about this I blame the louvers they create a weird aero effect making it hard for the car
to brake maybe I can blame the car's weight. All right what's the number? Number on the Integra
109 feet so 20 feet less. What kind of tires you rolling on dude? These are the Michelin um
Pilot Sport 4 S's so a true high performance summer tire. Versus an all-season tire. Yeah but
that's. And summer black ice. It's a boat this is a high performance handling machine if we had a
handling circuit I'd beat you by even more today. So you say so you say. So I proclaim if you will.
All right Tommy so the Mustang is quicker it is also significantly cheaper and I say it's
better looking than that very uh triangular kind of like lines intersecting lines Integra. It's also
made out of recycled bottles and only has two doors whereas the Integra can take your whole
family every day in luxury and comfort. So for me the Integra is a clear winner even though in a
straight line is slower than a Mustang which we all probably know it still is a great car. Actually
it's slower than a previous generation Mustang. Yeah yeah it's the same they never changed the
Mustang it's the same car over and over. And there's a newer one coming. All right see you
guys next time. Happy trails. Ciao.
