Now let's be honest, if you saw this cat at Shalta, would you want to adopt it and take
it home with you?
He and his sister had been left at the Happy Cats Heaven Shelter in Colorado Springs.
See how, when their owner moved away, he was overlooked for months at the Shalta.
Then one day, Desi the cat was offered a forever home.
Melanie said she and her husband Sal saw Desi's pictures on Petfinder and were smitten.
Melanie and Sal's cat, Meatball, had recently passed and they were ready to get another
cat to add to their family.
Desi got the honor.
Other than his snuggle, tooth and missing eye, Desi was normal.
He was a little shy at first, though, according to Melanie.
Melanie and Sal adopted both Desi and his sister.
Desi's veterinarian says that Desi has a misshapen skull and was probably born like this.
He is missing an eye and one nostril is closed.
Melanie reports that he often will circle clockwise, a sort of a tick, and he has a
crazy mode.
But then again, most cats do.
Desi has a favorite toy, a banana catnip toy that he likes to catch when it is thrown.
A few weeks ago, Desi's snuggle tooth fell out unexpectedly.
But on normal days, Desi and his sister take turns being king of the cat tree.
