Coming to Eglon was really challenging but it's definitely something that taught me
to stand on my own two feet and take care of myself no matter where I go in the world.
Even outside the classroom it is such a vibrant community with everybody knowing each other
in the house, in the year group, there are so many connections and friendships.
I think I've learned from boarding the need for balance in your life. It's amazing being
surrounded by all your friends at the same time but Eglon really teaches you to find time to be
by yourself and focus on your studies and be in your room and also leave your room and experience
all the inter-house competitions and ski and expedition and Eglon and boarding itself taught
me that I need to value both sides of life and keep a balanced lifestyle. It feels good and
nervous at the same time because it's shown that you have reached the end of the time at Eglon
and you have to go out into the real world where there's nobody to catch you up on your deadlines
anymore for per se for like when you're in university. It shows that you need to be more
independent and it feels scary. I really enjoy the enthusiasm that happens at sports day. I don't think
we get that at many of the other sports events because everybody's supporting each other because
everybody's there, everybody's cheering each other on even other houses. It's a really nice end
to the year. I've loved my time at Eglon and so being able to give back and try to create new
initiatives and enrich the community and leave an impact has been very rewarding. It feels
insane to reach a celebration like Summer Bowl. It's something that really takes me out of the
world. I just feel like I'm standing in clouds somewhere where I can see everything that I've
is soon going to be a memory, an anecdote that I'm going to tell which is kind of sad to think
about but it's also nice because it makes me realize how much we've grown with the
people there and laughed and it's like it makes it all feel worth it because it's breathing and
a home forever that expands beyond just a school but across a globe. It's something that I see as
a shared experience throughout time where I can reminisce not only with classmates or people who
shared similar experiences to me but also people who share different experiences and people who
will be sharing future experiences in Eglon and a hope for a community that will only grow and improve.
It sounds a bit cliche but bittersweet because it has been such a long time and it's sad to leave
these mountains behind and this place but it's also
nice because we've done so much to come here and this is a celebration of finishing it but
also to move forward to whatever we have after this.
