Namaste, I'm Mini and welcome to my channel Foodatomic.
It's getting cold here in Uruguay and that's why we are making Mushroom and Green Peas Curry also known as Mutta Mushroom.
So let's get started.
You will find the list of all ingredients and their measurement in the description box.
To make Mutta Mushroom, heat a pan and add 2-3 tbsp of oil.
Once the oil is hot, add 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
As the cumin seeds start to splutter, go ahead and add 1 medium finely chopped onion and stir it nicely.
We have to cook the onion till it's golden brown. You can cook it over medium or low heat.
Stir it occasionally so it doesn't stick to the pan. It might take around 7-10 minutes over low heat.
Once it is golden brown, add 2 tbsp of ginger-garlic paste and stir everything together.
You can also use 1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger and 1 tbsp of finely chopped garlic instead.
Cook this over medium or low heat for 2 minutes.
Then add 1 tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 tbsp of cumin powder and 1 tbsp of coriander powder.
Now mix everything together.
If the spices are sticking to the pan, reduce the flame to low and that should help or you can also splash some water instead.
Let the spices cook over low heat for 1 or 2 minutes.
Now add 1 bowl of tomato puree and mix everything together.
You can replace it with 1 large finely chopped tomato instead or you can make the puree of 1 large tomato as well.
Let this cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Stir it occasionally to ensure that the gravy is not burning or sticking to the pan.
After 5-7 minutes, you will start to see that the oil is oozing out of the curry.
Then you can add some water as per the consistency you need in the curry.
I have added 3-4 bowl of water and now mix everything well.
Once the curry starts to boil, add 1 cup of green peas followed by 2 tsp of salt or salt as per taste and now give everything a mix.
I am using frozen green peas but you can use fresh green peas instead.
Make sure to boil them nicely before adding it to the curry otherwise it might take a little bit longer to cook them.
Let the green peas cook for 2 minutes and then add 200 gms of chopped mushroom.
I have washed the mushroom thoroughly before adding it to the curry.
Give it a mix.
Make sure the mushroom is nicely coated in the curry.
Now cover the pan and cook for about 7-10 minutes over low heat.
After 10 minutes, stir everything and I can still see the mushrooms are semi-cooked.
So we will cover the pan again and cook for another 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the cover and let it cook for another 5 minutes without the cover.
I like the mutton mushroom with the thick gravy and that's why I am trying to cook it without the cover.
But if you like more gravy in the mutton mushroom, you don't have to do this step.
Just make sure the mushrooms are finely cooked and then you can stop.
