Although Qixi Festival is not only equal to Chinese Valentine's Day, Chinese couples now spend this day as a festival of love. Do you know any special ways to celebrate Chinese Valentine's Day? Find the answer in today's episode.
Hi everyone, it's Fiona, Qiqi Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine's Day.
So what makes this day Valentine's Day?
Who knows love better than Mr. Raj from the American sitcom, The Big Bang Theory?
Let's check out what he has to say.
Not only is Qiqi Festival Chinese Valentine's Day, but it also originates from Qiqiao Festival.
Not only does it contain the romantic story of Niulang and Zhenyu, but it also carries
the yearning of beauty, growth, and wisdom.
In Canada, couples will traditionally participate in gift-giving, such as cards, flowers, and
chocolates.
On the streets of Canada, you can find romantic music, beautiful balloons, and also you can
find some amazing decorations.
It turns out that all beautiful things are alike.
In China, I often see many beautiful women wearing traditional Chinese attire on the
streets.
Today, Derek and his girlfriend will be going to a Chinese costume photoshoot with the theme
of the Qiqi Festival.
Can I try this one on?
No, that's for girls.
My clothes are like right here.
Oh.
Hey Derek.
How's it look?
It looks awesome.
My girlfriend and I have been thinking about what we're going to do for this year's Chinese
Valentine's Day.
This is coming up really soon in August.
Before, we've done couple photos that are more Western style, but this time, because
this is really trending with young people, I really wanted to try the Eastern style of
couples' photos.
I really like it.
Yeah, it looks fantastic.
After seeing Derek and his girlfriend's beautiful makeup and outfit, I had to get this done, too.
This was such an amazing experience.
The moment I put on my hanfu, I felt like I was traveling back in time.
I highly recommend this to any couples out there.
If you want to celebrate Chinese Valentine's Day or Qiqi Festival, it's an excellent way
to make new memories.
My friend Derek, even though you're done your photoshoot, you're still very reluctant to
take off your hanfu, right?
Oh yeah.
Even though it's my first time, it's definitely not going to be our last time.
It was so much fun.
I recommend, even if you're a foreigner or you're from China, to really try it out, especially
on Valentine's Day.
We had such a good time.
We take photos to capture our beautiful moments in life, similar to how one might take baby
photos or wedding photos.
I had a wonderful experience during today's TC trip.
I learned so much about Chinese Valentine's Day, and it's something that I will deeply
remember and share with my friends.
But before we finish off, I'm told that if I write my wish, it'll become true for next
year's Qiqi Festival.
