The Parfuma Collection | Rose Garden Tour | Kordes Roses

Afternoon lovely viewer, how are you? Well, I wasn't planning on doing a video today I have to say but um, i've got to do i've got to do this video now Because I wanted to do this parfuma collection whilst it was still It was still in flower And um This is the parfuma collection that I have here and I have noticed a problem This year these the parfuma collection this year There's some of them they seem to be going over very quickly Now this here is dark desire And look at the depth of of that, but here's the dark desire here Can you see it this? This is dark desire and there is another dark desire Just here And this is something I have mentioned before The distance between these two roses it is only short But this rose here because of the hedge the hedge there and also the tree behind me It does get a lot less sun And so it is only half the size, but it's still it's still coming on. It's still growing. So That one is going to stay there And this one here is madame anisette. This is a new rose It's only been planted this year bare root But it is in a challenging position and it's it's not flying I have another madame anisette out the front now that he's doing it's the same age, but it's it's much better And this here is summer romance this is now it's in its second flush it did flower early But I wanted to draw reference to the fact that my parfuma collection they The flowers is it me or are these flowers going over early this year? these buds I'm seeing these Roses have been in bud for an eternity this year and I put it down to the lower daytime temperatures And in fact the lower evening temperatures as well The parfuma collection from cordes they've just been reluctant to open Now these roses they they are normally in bud for a long time anyway the cordes But this year in particular They've been in bud for an eternity and what i'm seeing and I just want to put it out there Is that these roses when they when they are opening? I think they're opening tired Because there's some of these roses here they're lasting sort of three days Two days three days four days and they're going over And that's the reason why i'm doing this video today now, I love these roses as you know I mean look at that absolutely beautiful Absolutely beautiful but this year in particular, I think because of these These lower temperatures that we've just happened to have had this year I'm sure these These roses some of these buds they've been here for well over three months I think some of these roses They've been in bud for well over three months just reluctant to open and now when they do open Perhaps they're just opening a little Exhaustor pated Is that what anyone else is seeing i'm not getting great duration From these roses this year this here is a Another dark desire. No, I think this here I think i'm right in saying this one was only three days old Three days old and this is a hybrid tea This is dark desire It's doing it's doing well, I mean it's Beautiful and fragrant beautiful And fragrant look at that Lovely It's just that they're going over A little a little faster than I would have liked and a little faster than what i've noticed last year But as I said in a previous photograph I uploaded I do like this You see this pink The pink working with The white and the white working with the red the red working with the pink. I do like that That is something i've been trying to get for for some time That really is I do I do like that a lot I think those colors Those colors work together. We've got fruity parfumer here Which isn't this one is potted But that is waiting for its second flush its second flush as well And this here is uh timeless charisma Now this hasn't been affected. This has been flying I'm gonna say three weeks and these the petals on this on these roses. They're not even dropping yet There are many that are past their Sell by date, but there are some still coming through and because it's not dropping You see the the petals are still quite hard. It's still bringing color to the garden. So i'm i'm leaving it Weather resistant flowers and fragrant timeless charisma Done very well, I think this year done very well and they're all growing big. Here's um Spicy parfumer that's just coming to the end The end of its first flush. Oh, in fact, we've got we've got a few more buds still to come from spicy parfumer But that's still that's still fragrant but you see they're growing big now I think most of these roses here. They're they're coming on for three years Almost fell over they're coming on for three years old now And they really are putting on some size, which is a good thing. I've cut that one back quite hard Summer romance it did get some black spot so i've just cut it back a bit a bit harder than I would have Would have liked and stripped it stripped it of leaves as well. But again, that's something I haven't noticed in previous years I honestly believe it's just the um These lower daytime temperatures and lower evening temperatures that we've that we've had this year But this is a rose that seems to have been unaffected and this is bliss parfumer This one's a baby Its first year in the ground But look at that Bliss parfumer and this one has flowered well, I haven't noticed it's it's been in bud for an extended period of time But bliss parfumer That is doing well and very and very healthy Lovely i've got to have a smell of this Lovely bliss parfumer Beautiful right this one here is Is um first crush And i'm going to be honest I am thinking of shovel pruning first crush because first crush this year bear in mind It's got to be i'm sure it's three years old now i've noticed historically The flowers of first crush i'm only getting two or three days From its actual flowers and that is something i've noticed before in the past Now whether i'm doing something wrong, I don't know But it's actually in a good position here It's actually grown well But this year i'm getting Even like one day i've noticed One day from the flowers two days three days, maybe four days maximum depending on the On the weather And after my visit to germany I am considering replacing or at least getting rose oceana That is a rose that i'm thinking about getting and first crush It's not doing it For me and i've been quite patient, but if you've got first crush, please do let me know am I doing something wrong? Because i'm getting anywhere Up to a maximum of three days from its flowers This here is rose welling spill Welling spill i'm not sure if i'm pronouncing that right But this is a lovely a lovely flower. It's a cordes rose part of the Fairy tale collection and it's just coming into its first flush now Beautiful it's not fragrant rose But its flowers look like they're they're opening successfully rose welling spill beautiful beautiful flower when it opens And this one here is another from the parfuma collection it's delightful parfuma Oh, that's a horrible contrast there And this is another rose that's growing big, you know, it's it's past my chest this one But look at this But again, these buds this rose It must have been in bud for over three months Look how deep that is there against my hand And i've been trying to tease that one that one open But look look at all of these buds I'm, hoping that this one is going to behave itself It's looking like it it might do it's growing big And there's a whole load of buds, but this is a very fragrant a very fragrant rose And there's plenty to come but again, this is a rose It's been in bud for an eternity. I've said it before When these roses when they're in at this sort of stage when they've just started to open they are vulnerable And that's the petals that are getting ready. They're building strength To flower and usually last a longer amount of time, but it could be it could be That this year those lower temps By the time they're opening They're already tired, but I am curious as to as to what other people think but as you know this is a A collection of roses that I that I like very much I just don't think it's the the best year For that collection so far things might change as things warm up, but we will we will have a look Timeless purple That one is unaffected that one's that one's doing very well. And in fact, this one hasn't really been out of flower It's just been churning out The flowers pretty much relentlessly Now here we have I want to talk about this rose here Because this this rose here is rose bonica and we can all talk about The roses that are doing well performing well but this rose It's a rose that is in probably the most difficult spot in my entire garden Because of that tree just there and the hedge it gets Hardly any sun And the fact that this rose it was eaten to the ground by a rabbit earlier on in the year And look at this Look at this doing fantastically well Doing fantastically well when you take into account the position that it's in rose bonica very healthy very healthy And that is a rose. I believe it's maon Breathe that rose and yeah, you know what we're gonna I wasn't gonna do it, but I just want to show you This here That's um rose gabriel oak. I mean that is taller than me now Excuse the car I don't think any Anything is touching my david austin roses this year I really don't I think they are absolutely flying and these lower these lower temps. You see that color there Those colors are holding I just can't see anything Touching my david austin roses this year in terms of in terms of performance. I'm not going to go all the way out the front but I do want to show you amadeus very quickly Because that is really doing well and I know that that Is a rose that's going to be in flower for all of the summer long lasting flowers New growth coming through and um Plenty of buds as well so I know that that is going to be In flower all of the all of the summer, but there's just two roses that I wanted to show you and that is here And look at this This is edam rose It's got to be three years old, but i'm growing it as a shrub in a pot And this is its second flush It has been absolutely amazing it's been relentless. I mean look at this here Absolutely fantastic i'm going to come around this way You know, they say don't grow climbing roses, um In pots and I don't suggest that you do that, but I had no space to grow this as a climber so I was forced to To put it in a pot and i've been cutting it back Like a shrub and it's just been doing so well i've been pruning it like a shrub rose and like I say, this is This is it's it's second flush now. Look at that Absolutely beautiful grown as a shrub a shrub rose But here this is the this is the other rose I wanted to show you and it's wedding piano And this is is only its first full year And certainly its first year in the ground I had it last summer But I can never ever ever Oh focus I can never ever ever get the green That I can see with my naked eye, but you you I just can't get that green On my phone screen, but look how many flowers That are on on this rose long lasting flowers very long lasting flowers and i'm I know that These flowers are weather resistant and look there's still a load more I mean surely I can get the green on that there surely I can get the green come through on that there Just a little bit but look There's still a load more to come Long lasting flowers very very happy with wedding piano this year and considering it's only It's only a year old Very happy. Now. The other thing I wanted to say is I know many of you are waiting for this video That i'm about to upload from my visit to cordes I'll be honest. I am struggling I'm struggling with that footage now. I have said already I drew reference to it that um You know cordes and tantal Their gardens are not similar to say david austin well particularly the cordes video I am I am struggling with the with the footage. I think when I visited there there was a transformation going on there were a lot of empty beds and um There were a lot of roses there that were a year old and I can't I can't just make the the magic happen I'm struggling with the with the footage and I say that and i've I've said it before I know I've said it before I know But I will upload it. I just didn't want people to be disappointed Now I am Happy that I I made that visit to germany. Um, it's somewhere I am planning on going back to as you know There are some places in germany that I wanted to visit whilst I was over there Well, that is something that i'm going to do but with regards to the cordes video in particular I'm I will upload a video, but please do not expect An all singing all dancing all magic Video because I can't just I can't just pull it out of thin air But you will see some fantastic roses there mature roses Look at this queen of sweden this rose here I wasn't even planning on coming out the front But this rose here is another one that's in second flush now. It's had its first flush and it's growing It's growing huge that there is taller than me and remember I pruned it down lower initially And it really is just flying again queen of sweden.
