Interviewed By My 9 Year Old!
Today Jude, our 9 year old interviewed me about my song and she asked some really good questions that weren't easy to answer!
Check out Mess of a Man! https://lnk.to/messofaman
I have a really big interview today it's
with someone who's a pretty big deal um
I'm already running late oh I don't own
much of any clothes and the ones I do
have have holes in them and I thought it
went well you guys let me know what you
thought

guys I have a really big interview today
it's with someone who's a pretty big
deal
um I'm already running late I'm not
dressed as you can see I have a raggedy
shirt on my hair is a mess I just
brushed my teeth so I'm just trying to
get this done as quickly as possible
because I gotta get going and to say I'm
a little nervous is an understatement so
I gotta get out of here
um oh
okay okay let's go get some clothes on
oh my gosh let me have my clothes
hanging out they're just all the baskets
and bins over here
I know I have some black pants that I
want to wear oh my goodness so here they
are
oh and I can wear that shirt too
it's just like
all right our Jean jacket's out and
we're back in and maybe
I've had this for a while is it is it
out again
maybe just the shirt I don't know if
this is the worst time to not have any
clothes when you realize oh I don't own
much of any clothes and the ones I do
have have holes in them
good

okay I'm heading out this is it it's
time to go wish me luck guys there's
always like dark hallways in these
places
all right next step on our show it is a
father of seven and he's releasing a new
song Let's welcome Jonathan Murray oh hi
everyone hey thanks for having me wow
you're a bit nervous you're a bit a
little bit shorter in person than you
are on TV
but thanks for having me
um
okay so you got the Murray we have a few
questions oh okay I thought you might
have some
first question is why did you write this
song
oh well my song is called mess of a man
it's coming out May 19th and the song is
about when my uh father left whenever I
was just a little boy
and he left for five years he did come
back but I guess I just didn't really
realize kind of how
that had impacted me up until I started
having kids of my own
and started realizing I was doing things
and wondering why did I do you know why
did I react a certain way why did I even
just carry myself the way I carried
myself
and it kind of made me remember that I
like back when I was a little boy
when that happened and I never really
dealt much with that so I wanted this
song to be kind of a story about
my journey my story like whenever I went
through that but now how I'm growing and
um recognizing some things and trying to
make changes in my own life for the
better
uh so that I can raise you guys to be
the best you possibly can be
I never even knew you never even knew
well now you know
I'm glad we're doing this dinner
oh how does it make me feel
um how does the song Make Me Feel
yeah
I feel like maybe somebody helped you
with these questions
Maybe
maybe an older sister
okay
um well the song makes me feel
um you know it's kind of a sad song but
it really doesn't make me feel sad it
makes me feel kind of
um
hopeful
because
I hope that this song someone can hear
this song maybe it's somebody who's
planning to walk out on their family
maybe it's somebody who's having a rough
time in their marriage or in their uh
their life every single day and so
then maybe they've never been shown the
right way to do it either
so I hope that someone will listen to
this and
um
kind of hear some of the lyrics in there
and and feel like okay uh I don't want
to do that I don't want to leave my
family so I hope that you know we can
carry on a conversation Beyond this song
and maybe give people some hope in their
lives and uh in their relationships and
to to help them grow and to be men or
women that God has called them to be
okay with this does he understand
uh yes I talked to my dad Gramps before
um releasing this song or I told him I
was planning to release this song and I
wanted to you know just let him know and
kind of explain why
and I was letting him know that it
wasn't I wasn't releasing the song
because I needed to get my feelings out
and I had this like deep
hurt that needed to be you know
told to the world it was more that I had
already kind of worked through a lot of
that myself
um and I felt like it was really
important to get this conversation going
so while this song may again sound sad
and it may have like a you know certain
feel to it
the whole my whole goal with this was
just to get conversation happening and
people thinking like you know some
people may not even understand that
years later the way that they have
always been the way that they feel like
they've always done things
um may have stemmed from you know having
a parent hurt them like that walking out
on them and them having to feel like
they're on their own or that they're
alone and that nobody cares about them
and they may still feel like that but 30
years later they may not they might not
realize that's why they feel like that
so I wanted to kind of bring this back
up because it is such a common thing did
you know that one in four kids are
raised without a dad
one out of four
that's a lot isn't it for every four
kids
one of those kids was raised without a
father like if you go to a school you go
to someone to go to school and you line
up four kids just four random kids one
of those kids will not have not had a
will not have a father in their house
raising them it'll just be their mom or
their grandma or somebody else
um and so we really need strong men in
this world and to raise children uh
because there's a lot of Statistics with
that as well statistics meaning there's
a lot of uh information about when
fathers leave that those kids that don't
have fathers are more likely to go to
prison they're more likely to be
homeless they're more likely to have
just different issues in life
and so I think it's really important to
as men to step up and make sure that we
are leading our families and being
present men in our homes
how long did it take you to make this
song
well I started writing this song
probably about two
two and a half years ago
and I kind of didn't finish it because
it was like it was to me it was like man
do I release this song do I not like I
don't know I didn't want to like I
didn't want to hurt gramps's feelings I
didn't want to step on anybody's toes
but I also felt like this story needed
to be told and it's not told enough and
again it's way too common you're talking
about 25 percent of people children
growing up without dads in their homes
and so I feel like that's something that
we need to be talking about
um I was kind of not sure whether to
write the song or finish it but then I
just decided you know what I need to I
need to get this out there people need
to hear this song it's really important
and my wife I don't know if you've met
her before but she's uh she really
thought this song was really important
too so
where can people listen to yours
you can stream it or download it or buy
it anywhere that you get your music
Apple music Spotify Amazon music YouTube
it'll be all over the place are you
gonna buy it
you don't know yeah
tough crowd over here
sadly this video is about to end just
like this Popsicle oh yeah that's how
you know when a Miss Judy show is over
it's usually when the Popsicles are
going down so I guess it's time to wrap
it up well thanks for having me I
appreciated it
well thanks for watching my security
all right guys I just got back from my
interview I think it's gonna be a pretty
big deal and I thought it went well you
guys let me know what you thought if you
have any other questions let me know too
I'd love to answer them you know one
thing that Jude characters she just uh
she's kind of rude you know she was
eating a Popsicle the whole time and
never offered me one like at all so
there's that but anyways back home
getting stuff done
I'm gonna go
I hope you'll listen to my new song May
19th I'm really excited to release it
get it out there for you guys and
um can't wait for y'all to hear it
love you guys bye
