Where Are All the Eggs?!

what's up everybody today is the day it's finally happening I'm leaving let's get going I got an appointment and I'm excited to do it here we go what's up everybody today is the day it's finally happening it's been it's been has it been years it might it might have been years oh we jamming in here let's go okay I'm leaving by myself to go get a haircut I think it's about time it's horrible it's looking horrible I can't be showing up like this anymore keep people are going to continue to think I'm homeless let's get going appointment and I'm excited to do it turns out good though that's my only problem when I go get a haircut um I hope I don't get stuck in our yard great awesome it's so wet here anyways so many times I go get my hair cut and turns out horrible you know I don't go to just like random places they're charging like ten dollars a haircut I'm like I go to like nice decent places you know so this is a new place it had some good reviews so we'll see all right I'm here let's go get this thing done my hair is actually was looking it's looking kind of nice I mean right now it's not because the wind's wet but I kind of like was messing with it in the car so I might just do like a little trim see how we can keep the length a little bit [Music] all right guys here we go [Music] looks really good thank you Melissa welcome guys Alyssa you can you should thank her right now because she just turned me from a homeless wreck yeah into a Dapper looking gentleman and I really appreciate that classic go go see her in Mooresville at Hudson Salon let's go thank you so much all right what do y'all think I feel like I can walk with my head held a little bit higher right now you know like hey check out check out this haircut check out my hair what do y'all think you like it I like it I think it looks good [Music] walking through Costco with this haircut I'm like hello fellow citizens also with your haircut like I belong now not an outcast anymore picking up lunch early home Costco went well went good and um I've never been in this area before look at it it's pretty sweet it sounds like too far from us maybe 30 minutes or so it's a nice little area a little downtown area but they come out take Danielle out more around this these parts all right let's get up out of here what's up friends it's another day here on the Murray Homestead it doesn't really feel like a homestead you know it just kind of feels like we have a bunch of animals we have a cow that makes Milk whatever I just want to give you guys an update though on our animals and then talk to you a little bit about the whole eggspiracy that's going on right now lots of talk about eggs because people even hear have asked why are y'all buying eggs are your chickens not laying eggs let's talk about it but first let me show you a quick update on the animal life around our property so if you didn't see we have all of our sheep in with Eden our beautiful Jersey cow careful the fancy time don't touch it don't touch your face if you didn't see I don't know if we'd even showed this in our Vlog we showed it on Instagram and we recorded it but I don't think we finished it anyways we have two baby lambs um Magnolia one of the first sheep we got her and then this Ram right here they were our first sheep she came pregnant we were told she was going to be lambing in like March something like that so we were like not even expecting one morning Tyler came out and was like Magnolia had her babies we're like what and there's two so here they are they don't have names but they're sweet little buddies Magnolia's still skittish so they all run away from us when we come in there but check them out this is Magnolia and those are her babies sitting right there they're all just chilling hanging out and they all hang out under here none of them go in the little sheep thing we built because they just don't like it so we have five now seven we had five sheep we now have seven two little lambs they're both Rams so we won't be keeping them unfortunately but flowers back here is pregnant and she might be having twins as well and she should be also lambing any day we were told she would be landing any day so it was a shock when we found out that Magnolia had her baby yeah five mostly grown sheep plus two little babies our cow eating and then this is another thing that I recorded but actually I didn't show you so actually here we'll show you real quick a couple weeks ago a few maybe a month now actually we bought 34 36 I can't remember chickens which brings us to Xperia C check them all out they all free roam this is kind of their little area a lot of them make their way in here at night I know people were like that's not enough space this is back when we had six chickens plus the other well we buy 20 maybe I think we had like 21 total at by the end of it all so we have about 50 30 to 54 chickens I don't remember exactly how many we have right now but [Music] but old enough to be laying so you would think John you guys should have like plenty of eggs well out of the 50 something we have we are getting about one to two eggs a day it was a few more than that and that was just like a few weeks ago we were getting like three to four a day maybe and now it's like one and that's crazy to me so which brings me to experiacy if you're on Tick Tock if you've made your way to chicken talk as people call it you've probably heard a lot about people's chickens not laying eggs it's winter time they need a certain amount of sunlight to actually make eggs so that is a huge Factor obviously but a lot of people were like yes but I'm still usually getting some eggs through the winter and some people are just like our chickens were just not laying at all this year I don't know why and so there's this whole kind of conspiracy about you know people who are eating feed from like Purina and all these big name brands that they switch the feed up been that the way that the amount of nutrients that they were getting to their chickens has drastically reduced well oh and then some people like and then I switched to like a local feed or made my own and my chickens like immediately started laying within the next couple days so not to say that those stories aren't valid maybe that is a valid possibility I'm not sold on it yet because it is still winter time there's still a lot of factors involved in chickens laying eggs so we will see our chickens might be laying in the woods they've been hanging out in there a little bit I can't find any eggs where I see them hanging out but it doesn't mean they're not doing it you know I mean it doesn't mean there's not a secret stash of eggs somewhere in the woods because that's a very plausible explanation for our situation at least other people I don't know but what do you guys think for any of you guys who have chickens and you've noticed a drastic drop in your eggs let me know I'd like to hear your stories and then anybody hey bud and anybody who um has chickens and hasn't you know you haven't changed anything things are just the same way it's been it's doing good let me know too anyways so we have about 50 some chickens three dogs Canyon if you don't know who Canyon is he's our newest pup uh we've had him for I don't know what a couple months now he's been he's a good boy he likes to be a good boy and do good boy things right here show your face say hi say I'm a messy boy too and then we have honey and Chase and I think that's it as far as our animals go right now so there's a little update for you on the homestead life that we're trying to live it's all learning process it's starting to rain but uh anyways we love you guys and we hope and we hope you're doing well even if life is hitting you kind of hard we just pray that feel blessed still in the things that are around you every single day you know it can feel when you're like stuck in the monotonous life that you have sometimes it can feel easy to not appreciate the thing that we take for granted car a camper would ever use that we need to just sell a house animals that can potentially produce food they aren't they're about to become food just kidding I hope that you are able today to look around and see the blessings in your life and count them and appreciate what God has given you and what he's given us so on that note we love you guys and we'll see y'all later and pray that I find some eggs around here bye [Music]
