GIVING OUR DINING ROOM A MAKEOVER!

have you guys ever heard the expression when the cat's away the mouse will play because that's what's about to go down it was a wake-up call I was like okay I can't be going out looking like this okay you guys are you ready for the reveal [Music] good morning guys it's an early morning today it's actually close to eight o'clock but I've been up since 5 45 right now I'm gonna let the chickens out we're gonna get our day started I need to get in a quick I forgot they were put in the big Coop last night with the other chickens it sounds like you might be getting beat up in there settle down set it down are you hiding you're hiding from a good idea all right there you go oh there's a cracked egg on the ground who laid an egg come on Kevin come on out of there well no one was beating up too much in there everybody is alive and well foreign every morning Tyler goes to uh help feed the horses across the street and good girl come on come and the dogs tried to follow her every single day come on sweet girl tell me honey is still a puppy she's only like maybe six months old five months six months something like that right chase our other dog he's not the best teacher because he likes to go across the street and follow Tyler but she's a good girl she's learning and be a big big dog she's about the same size as chase our other dog who's in German Shepherd Lab mix she's a Great Pyrenees and they are livestock Guardian dogs so our hope is that she will be able to stay out at night and protect the animals but also we give her lots of love during the day right yeah she likes love so we told Tyler that she needs to do her chores here first then she can go over there across the street it's been something so good for her we wanted to get horses when we moved out here but we knew it would be a process it wouldn't be something we could do right away so the fact our neighbors across the street have two horses and love our kids and have invited them to come be a part of what they do every day and then also be able to ride them is amazing [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so I was reminded of a story when I went to a coffee shop maybe a year or so ago it is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me I don't know that one was in the moment actually neither one in the moment really struck me uh until later on like after the fact so I went to I went to a coffee shop and I took the kids and they were we were all looking rough their hair was like not brushed for days you must have like just had Israel or something like that I walk into this coffee shop I have three or four of the kids they're looking rough they're not even dressed cute they have like ripped up pants like Marin right now let me show them here just from playing ain't nobody getting new leggings over some ripped knees okay you're gonna just you're gonna deal with it so we're walking in I'm ordering and then I'm standing waiting for my drink and this lady she's probably 50. she walks up to me and she looks at me very like sincere and endearing and says do you need any help and like I thought maybe the kids were acting crazy and I wasn't paying attention I'm looking around they're fine they're just kind of standing around whoa don't kill yourself there they're kind of just standing around like being good kids and so I had no idea why she was asking me that and so I'm like no we're we're good and so then I'm putting the kids in the car and I'm looking at each one as they hop into the van and I'm like oh your hair's looking rough oh your pants are all ripped up oh you're and like I think oh I think Everly was wearing like Tyler's hoodie so it's like way oversized it was just like I'm like oh my gosh and I look at myself and I had not shaven in like a few weeks my hair was probably nasty looking crazy um oh and that's when my hair was longer too so it's like probably really greasy looking and I was like oh my gosh this lady thought we were like homeless or something I my first thought was she thought we were homeless like we just walked off like you were a grieving widow or your wife just died you got all these kids and you're just I don't know what to do goodbye yeah so anyways it was pretty hilarious and it was a wake-up call I was like okay I can't be going out looking like this too often hey let's go girls so far [Music] let's check out our list pasta sauce applesauce eggs bananas zucchini blueberries raspberries strawberries apples cucumbers guacamole not too much not too bad today short list we should be in and out pretty quickly [Music] foreign we're done let's go hey guys do you like see you later okay give you a happy face dude I think it's a balloon without the face have you guys ever heard the expression when the cat's away the mouse will play because that's what's about to go down John is picking up groceries he took Marin EV and Jude with him so he's gone so I am going to take advantage of this opportunity with the house to myself and whatever I want to do to work on a project that I have been dreaming about basically since we moved in here I'm really excited first things first the girls have taken all of our dining room chairs outside we're going to carry them around back and power wash them and then they are getting a makeover baby is sleeping in the crib he just fell asleep big girls are here willing to help and John has the little kids all the way although I probably do anything I could probably knock out every single house project on our list I'm just kidding that's really optimistic but for real I feel like all right now's the time the breeze is going the air is cool I'm gonna get some stuff done first I'm gonna check on this bread and our bread machine our first bread that we are making it's been a big failure still a failure still not cooked all the way through looking interesting I'm gonna go ahead and just leave that there we'll Circle back to that in a little bit all right I'm grabbing my cup I'm taking the chairs around back getting the power washer we're gonna wash them off we're gonna get going [Music] [Music] good job come here honey bear you gonna help help I love you baby I love your water look at him there she comes here she comes just to pull in power washer so I'm gonna work smarter and not harder I'm going to lightly sand these chairs and then I'm gonna wash them because I'll have to wash them after I lightly send them anyway I'm just gonna wash them after I sand them [Music] I'm thinking I should do one and make sure I like it first because then we're only out one chair right because if she doesn't like it I am Addie but I've done most of the chairs um I would have carried all of them down for nothing and then so you don't want to carry any more chairs down until we know we like it right yeah here [Laughter] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] we got our first chair fully sanded washed and dried so now it's time for spray paint [Music] so I really seriously underestimated the amount of paint it would take I think part of it is because it's a little Breezy today so a lot of the paint is getting carried away whole can on one chair and I only have four cans so I think we're gonna need more paint but I can't wait to show you guys this because I I love it I think I'm gonna love it and when you see what I want to do to the rest of the dining room it's really gonna make it all come together and pop all right I've recruited some help sanding we got another chair sanded working on this one I'm gonna sand the rest of these then wash them all then paint them all right look at me oh no oh dear what you see your mouth you got a mustache [Music] well that's it for today guys I ran out of spray paint I went through four cans and I got two and like 5 8 of a chair done so I need to get some more obviously I still have one two three four five six more chairs to do and so I guess I'm gonna need like 10 more cans of spray paint but I got two done so I can tell I'm gonna like it I think y'all are gonna love it I'm gonna put a pause on this put a pin in it until I get some more paint we got a major problem you're gonna have to watch this in black and white because I'm not ready for the final reveal yet but I'm trying to finish these up and I went to put the clear coat on this one but the sun is like set over the house and it's all shaded and now it's too cold because it started look oh that's kind of a cool texture it's there it's here on this corner it's on this corner so I'm gonna have to like sand that and then repaint it very nice what a bummer what are you gonna do I gotta wait till tomorrow now video it's a video it never ends just like the chicken coop that never ended common theme is Danielle in her projects all right you guys I am so excited to reveal the refinished chairs to you but I realized that the rest of my vision is not quite complete and I don't think the chairs by themselves are gonna like give you enough of a picture so I'm gonna do one more quick project and not even the complete project I'm just going to basically give you a little sample and enough to kind of show you what I'm going for here overall so hang tight because I've got a brush and a roller and some paint and so I'm gonna knock this out and then I'm going to show you guys this whole reveal hopefully you can grasp what this whole room and the vibe is gonna be by the time I'm done [Music] okay you guys are you ready for the reveal it's not over here this is a mess don't look at that I am so excited I did a little bit so you can kind of catch the vision I ran out of paint so okay I only had a sample size of the paint so you'll have to just pretend the rest is done I'll explain but I'm so excited the chairs are amazing the rest of it is amazing I can't wait to have it all done I hope you guys can like get enough of an idea from this uh this little reveal here for what hopefully this whole room is gonna look like anyway okay without further ado our new dining room chairs [Music] foreign like from the beginning I'm so excited to start bringing it to life the windows here are beige which looks amazing on the outside so the door was this gorgeous wood color before which I love on the outside of the house it looks amazing it matches but on the inside it just felt like too dark and heavy for me I wanted something really light so I knew I was going to do the trim for the windows in accessible beige it is beautiful it literally matches the window color perfectly so I'm really pumped about that and then I thought I'm gonna make the door match and I am in love with it I know it's going to be controversial some people are not gonna like that I painted over a wooden door but I think it is beautiful I'm so excited I do need one more coat of paint on it I ran out I had like this tiny sample jar so I got that window done and two coats on the door so I'll throw one more coat on that and then we're gonna go around and do all the baseboards all the windows and door frames and I'm really excited because I think it's just going to create this really cozy warm Space versus the black that we had before which was kind of like warm touches of wood but it still felt very cool and kind of I don't know to me maybe a little less inviting so my goal is to create just like cozy warm Cottage Vibes I think this knocks it out of the park I'm really excited to show you guys the rest of the process I've picked up a new color for the kitchen island can't wait to get that done and show you guys that as well but let me know what you think of our first interior Home Project right aside from the spring hinge door this is like the first thing I have a list of little things that I want to do to make this feel more like us this was a good start so follow along to keep up with our journey of making this house into our home and making this land into our Homestead we'll see you guys later
