okay it's go time baby's on his way um
things have started
happening in a big way over the last
48 48 hours really and the date is
monday the
20th i keep looking i've got no idea
what's going on 24th of
january 2022
and on saturday oh god here's another
contraction i'm gonna have to pause this
vlog clip quickly because i can't vlog
while having a contraction because it
hurts too much
[Music]
okay sorry about that slight uh pause so
on saturday i had a stretch and sweep
which is when i don't really understand
it that much but basically they you can
google it if you want to know the
details but they basically it's a it's a
very natural way to to get things going
that was my due date on saturday and
then yesterday uh about 1 p.m in the
afternoon obviously 6 p.m and my waters
broke and
it was kind of mad it was a really weird
feeling it was not how i imagined day
it's not like in the movies where it's
just like one sudden gush of water it's
happened it's still happening now like
over the last 24 hours it's still
happening now and i started having some
very
minor contractions and i was like this
doesn't feel very painful this is fine i
was like i can handle this so this will
be all right
little did i know um what was coming and
i'm sure what's to come later it's gonna
be a lot worse but anyway i've been
timing them and they were very random
they were like at one point they were
every five minutes and it went to every
hour then every 45 minutes and 20
minutes then i think i so we somehow
managed to get a full night's sleep
george got a solid eight hours this baby
is
very convenient right now it's doing us
a huge favor i had about six hours sleep
a few contractions woke me up in the
night and but nothing sort of major and
i think i slept through most of them
because they were so light um but then
about 7 30 this morning i was woken up
by quite a painful one and then since
then they've been painful and regular
i've called the hospital they said to
stay here for a bit longer and so we're
just sort of holding tight until
a bit later
and once they get more painful and they
get more regular and they get more close
together i think quite soon i think soon
yeah we've got the bags ready we've both
had a shower we've had breakfast it's
like the perfect time like i'm so
grateful for this
it couldn't have happened it's not like
three in the morning or
we thought the other day imagine if it
happened at like 11 p.m
at night and we've had a whole day we
haven't had any sleep and then we have
to go and do it
but luckily we've had some sleep i'm
still quite i don't know i'm not i'm
quite nervous but
it's okay the contractions are very
painful now we're talking about gas and
air maybe like i think something would
be good to take some of the weight off
but yeah the bags are packed here comes
another one so i'm going to hand the
camera to george
well done lucy is so strong
i didn't mean to film me
no i know i know i'll leave you to it um
yeah so many so many emotions today we
don't know how long today will be we
have two hours in a day
see lucy's still trying to be a comedian
even through the pain and everything
she's still there
um but yeah i'm not just like letting
her get on with the contraction but i
said to lucy i'm my job is to be as
as much as you want me or as little as
you want me and right now
lucy's preference is to kind of be
just just focus breathing on her own
eyes closed in her mind just getting
through the contraction so if that
changes and i need to introduce any
comforting massage whatever it is then
i'll be there for that today
just from the dad's perspective because
i am going to be a dad probably today
which is mad i nearly burst into tears a
minute ago i'm i'm getting so many
emotions
okay lucy okay i'm talking about myself
while he's going through this i will
come back to this um it's fine
it's funny
i know it's hard right
i've just come into another room because
me vlogging whilst lucy's having a
contraction really isn't ideal for her
she needs she wants right now quiet and
focus and peace but we've been working
up to this day
for nine months or longer since we
decided that we wanted to start trying
for a baby and it's all worked up to
this day so
a flood of different emotions
excitement nervousness for the labor
ridiculously
excited to meet him and see his face and
see what he looks like and hold him i
don't really know what else to say i'm a
little bit shaky and i'm trying to i
need to be that rock and that birth
support person but yeah we've done
everything practical that we can the
bags are packed so the next step will be
to
phone the hospital again let them know
that the contractions are getting more
intense because she's doing so so well
but they are painful
um you know what lucy's like especially
on camera she's very strong and upbeat
and positive and jolly but um they are
really painful for her so
yeah i think it won't be long until
we're going into hospital we don't know
what today will be like we don't it
could go on
into tomorrow we have no idea it could
be long could be a quick one
so the vlog may be all over the place
but we wanted to document a day for us
to look back on yeah it's such a weird
day i don't know like it's there's so
many emotions on there it's
yeah
i don't know i don't even know how to
explain it we knew this was going to
happen we knew have been leading up to
it and now it's here it's like oh it's
actually here like it's kind of
mind-blowing and like george said i
don't know when i'm having a contraction
right now i like knowing george is there
so i like him being here
but i don't know i said like my analogy
earlier wasn't it was that if you stub
your toe on a table
and then suddenly suddenly like oh show
me it you're like no no let me just
breathe through it just one second let
me get rid of the pain
okay now i can talk to you i know what
it's like as well yeah
like um i don't know if anyone had this
when they were kids like if if you hurt
yourself in the playground as a kid yeah
or you're a bit upset and and then
people start asking if you're okay yeah
your life makes you more upset yeah that
was the bit that always made you cry
yeah as a kid when someone asked you if
you're are you all right and that was
like that would make you go yeah no i'm
not all right i don't know i think
that's my personal preference and i
think you said you'd be the same if you
were yeah 100 but we were shout out to
all the women out there who do this my
i haven't done it yet no but i've been
blown away so far at what you've done
really yeah i haven't done much when it
was so funny when things um when we
first started getting signs yesterday
we just felt so much joy rushed through
us we were both like wow we were i was
jumping up and down i was actually
jumping up and down dancing yeah um and
just ex
i knew then that that was that was the
overwhelming feeling yeah there was no
nerves at that point it was just pure
joy and excitement and happiness
um we've let our family know okay i'm
gonna leave lucy to the next one we've
let our family know
um that things are kind of starting to
move and happen we wanted to keep them
updated because everyone's so excited so
we've been sending out some whatsapp
messages this morning just to give
little updates and let people know that
things are starting to move
this is probably really inappropriate
but we may be going in soon so i'm gonna
make a quick coffee it wouldn't be a
juicy vlog without a little coffee
section with it
[Music]
okay little update we have arrived at
the hospital and just parked
um the contractions were getting more
intense and more frequent
and we called and it is time for us to
head in so the bags are all in the boot
they're all packed and yeah we're parked
to the hospital
and we're heading in
okay we are
in the room we're just gonna get
assessed first so we'll see what's going
on uh we'll see how far lucy is or isn't
yeah and we'll get a better idea after
this
little appointment little meeting
spidey
it's time for
a juice vlog now i'm joking i'm joking
maybe we could do a little room tour
there's not a lot to see
bed lucy
um
little baby area
oh oh yeah look at the hats
so sweet okay tiny update they have fed
us and the food was actually pretty good
here and they gave me a portion i said i
didn't want to take it away from anyone
who really needs it but they said
there's plenty so i might just have a
portion and
grab a little coffee as well i'm all
gowned up as you can see what's happened
loads has happened yeah i've got a
cannula in my arm because
i'm having a hormone drip because it's
basically been 24 hours since over now
over yeah 26 and a half 20
five and a half hours since my water's
broke so to reduce the risk of infection
they want to get things going and we've
decided to have the hormone drip which
basically hurries things along but it
does cause a lot more pain i'm really
struggling with the contractions i'm
finding it really hard um
really painful yeah i'm surprised you're
managing to speak to the camera right
now there's another one's on the way um
and
i've said i want an epidural now because
i know i'm gonna have it later because
of how painful it is spray your back
with some super cold spray so if you're
feeling hot it'll be refreshing if
you're not then you're gonna make ready
that's fine thank you
it's just amazing
i know i'm so
sorry nearby on standby
[Music]
okay quick update
you can probably tell i'm much more calm
i feel much better i don't know what it
is but
having like people in the room and being
like plugged in and having all this
going on
it's for some reason making me feel more
calm um i thought it would be the
opposite and it'd feel quite clinical
and medical but it's relaxed me more the
lights are down um we just hear like
sort of chill quite chilled out now i'm
a bit hungry i don't think i ate enough
and i'm not allowed to eat now but i
don't know what the last thing i said
was i think i was going to get an
epidural and you probably just saw some
clips of me getting it it hurt going in
the needle and the spine situation and
then there was this weird like electric
shock going down my leg but it's fine
now i feel absolutely fine
and now i've got the button that i press
every 15 minutes actually is it time
yeah you can watch me do it now and
you'll listen and you'll hear it going
already
wow says here dos
those started it said
yeah so every 15 minutes i basically
talk myself up and already it's like
eased off the contraction pain
and i'm really glad i got it i wasn't
sure if i wanted to or not and i thought
in my head i thought i'll do whatever
we've always said we'll just it's so
noisy we've always said that we'll just
do whatever feels right at the time um
and that's what felt right i was i just
felt like i was in too much pain just to
carry on waiting um they're gonna start
the hormone drip soon as well what else
is going on george put some stockings on
me i should have filmed you doing that
oh yeah i managed to get these on
is doing unbelievably well like it's it
was so so so hard watching her in pain
like the hardest thing
um
well not the hardest thing was the pain
not the hardest thing but for me from my
point of view like seeing your partner
in that much pain is heartbreaking yeah
um but she's just doing so well
all good i'm hungry
thinking about mcdonald's mcdonald's do
you reckon they can deliver to the
hospital
so we still think we might be i mean
it's ten to four now a little time
update um we still think it could be a
little way off
but the midwife thinks that we may not
need too much contractions i don't know
if you can see it
does there nothing like a contraction on
that paper i don't know what i'm looking
for to be honest so there is a paper of
grafts coming off she was like oh the
contractions are becoming more regular
so you probably won't need
um too much of a hormone drip or too
much to go in there you guys finish now
um
yes because things are happening quite
well naturally which is good yeah um
but yeah this epidural
10 out of 10 from me good good good good
that's that's what we like to hear and
we didn't film before that i had what
did i have
codeine paracetamol and some
[Music]
lining drug
um just because while they were putting
all in i was like is there anything i
can have in between because you were
struggling yeah
okay so tiny update um no baby yet don't
get too excited um things are going very
very well very positive i have if you're
wondering why i'm in the car i have just
um jumped out and got some food down the
road because it is now a little time
update
7 30 p.m
and lucy is kind of having a nap she's
resting things are going in the right
direction but nothing crazy is happening
now and they still think
it could go like way past midnight so
we could be like five six seven eight
hours i don't know
um
away from the baby being born so lucy
kind of said if we're staying up she
can't eat at the moment this is the
annoying thing i i said
this is this would have been the time
where i went out to get us both food but
because of the hormone drip that she's
on it means she can't eat so she said
you might as well there's no point you
not eating if we're going to be staying
up all night um go and get a quick bite
to eat so that is what i've done and now
i'm heading back to hospital been
texting her like the whole time
and she's just giving me updates like
yeah all good um i sent her a photo i
got a chicken wrap i sent her a photo
and she said jealous
so
yep i'm gonna get back to hospital now
just literally nipped out for 10 minutes
and we will continue with this evening
um and i have a feeling it could be a
long night you never know it's this
thing we've been kind of asking the
doctors and the midwives
when do you think like do you have an
opinion on when this could all start
properly happening
and they're literally like how long is a
piece of string um it's all to do with
every woman's individual body and when
things decide to happen the hormone drip
etc
is designed to help that natural
birthing labor process that later stage
of labor um kick in
but it still could take a while we will
update you i hope this vlog has been
um i feel like we've been quite good
actually obviously the vlog isn't our
top priority today so we're just trying
to pick the camera up here and there to
document what's kind of going on because
i think imagine in 10 i know 15 years
when our kid can watch this vlog back
the day he was born how his parents were
feeling how it all went imagine watching
think right now if you could watch the
day
you were coming into the world and
imagine your parents
speaking through it never having met you
how they're feeling what they're going
through i think that'd be cool so we
will pick the camera up as and when um
and keep you guys updated
okay so lucy's just had a 10 p.m
examination
and we are fully dilated apparently his
hands about
this far
yeah very close
show me what it's like to be circling
among the clouds
because without you by my side okay this
is it we have been told we are starting
pushing
lucy is doing amazing so oh my god it's
amazing um yeah so this is it this is
the
final part we're about to meet him
hopefully soon um yeah pushing
all been leading up to this moment so so
crazy
so many emotions it is 11 43 pm until
you set me free
my eyes were closed
now i see clear as day and i just wanted
to say
that you can take me
[Music]
you can take me high
i can see the sun staring at you when
you make that smile
i'm moving closer to you
[Music]
set me
[Music]
to free
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
no one will ever take me no one will
ever take me away from you
[Music]
without you
[Music]
you can take me
feels like i can fly
you can take me
[Music]
you can take me high
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
do
[Music]
you
