I think the greatest
miracle that came out of it
is that when I got my mind back
I was able to basically see through all the BS
and
I was able to see
this
multi-generational
trauma
And all of these issues that led up to all of this
And that gave me strength
And yes, I am
A little tired of being called. Oh, you're so strong
Oh, you know, sometimes you don't know how strong you can be when you're given nutrients
Hello, my name is katherine annis. I am the owner and founder of the dawning institute and I had my
Nde when I was 17 years old in my sleep
So the night of my nde
As you can imagine with very very powerful
Psychiatric drugs running through my system
Things that I never needed so you can only imagine the effects that they had
it's
Not out of the it's not out of question
To have something like this happen
in fact
It is on the warning labels
The night I died
Wasn't unlike most nights
It was a cool
Late spring early summer
And I had my window slightly open to allow the breezing
It was nice. Um, I lived in a
bedroom community
um, and it it was
Also a farm town. So we had many
You know farmers markets and you know, pick your own when the when the seasons came in
And at night you could hear the cows and the horses grazing in the fields
Once in a while a train would go by
And sometimes it would just lull you to sleep
So between
the
plethora of medications
And come to find out I also have pretty severe sleep apnea. Thanks to my father's side of the family
I finally fell asleep
What I was dreaming I can't exactly remember what up
But I do remember
It coming to an abrupt halt
and all of a sudden this
Blazingly beautiful white light
Just came down and enveloped my whole being
it um
It was the most miraculous feeling i've ever felt
And in fact, there's no words
That I could ever use to describe
how
Much love
and acceptance
peace
Unity tranquility all of these beautiful words
Something i've never felt
before or even
even since
And I remember levitating
above my body
And I I was going up through the light
And it was just the most beautiful experience
I remember I would have my right hand
rising above me towards the apex
Just wanting to touch it wanting to get to the other side
And even though I didn't exactly know per se what was on the other side. I knew that it was home
I knew that it was a home that I belonged to
But I didn't know it
Because that's not what I was
Living in this life
My left arm my left hand was to my side
And these colors were just dancing around me
and when I finally
When I finally reached the apex of the light
It was my
Brother that passed away about
Seven years before we had a really special relationship
And he met me at the apex
And I heard his voice
Something that i've missed
and um
He told me
You have to go back don
It's not your time yet
And to give you a little context my birth name is actually dawn
It was the name that my father had always wanted for his first daughter
And it just never felt right for me I was
really teased about it, you know dawn the dish soap, um growing up in elementary school, so
I had really negative feelings about it. So I legally changed it in 2013
And so when he told me it wasn't my time
There was this
Force that just pushed me backwards
You couldn't see it but I fell I fell back
And I remember I was screaming. No, you know, I don't want to go back
I don't want to go back to this family to this life to this
to this hell
and
When I finally woke up
And I took my first breath
my lungs
were stinging
And my joints were stiff
My heart felt like it was beating out of its chest
My mind was racing
and
I tried to just process
all that happened
And it just finally
Sank in
I died
That was that was it. I died
now after I was able to
Pull myself together
I got up and I went into my mom's room
You know, you think your mom is the one that's supposed to guide you through something that is basically life-altering, you know
Be gentle with you. Love you kind of
Support you
That's not what I got
I woke her up and I told her mom. I think I just died. I don't know what happened
But I I heard brother jerry he was up there he told me to go back that it wasn't my time
I was trying to tell her all of this mind. You was about 2 or 3 a.m
um
and
She kind of rolled over and
With this
exasperated frustrated angry look on her face
She told me
To knock it off
It was just a dream to go back to bed and don't wake her up again with this nonsense because she
Has to go to class in the morning and she needs her sleep
So I went back to my room
I went back feeling completely rejected
and
Whenever I tried to bring it up with either her or other friends
Of course
You're standing right in front of them. You're you're fine. You're perfectly normal. You never went to the hospital
You didn't have this big accident. You didn't you know
You don't have anything to really prove it on paper
And so they'd either just count me
Flat out. Oh, it didn't happen. Just like my mother did
or
they
Placate me
They tell me oh, yeah, that's that's amazing that's good. Um, so hey, how about and then they completely change the subject
I learned
To keep my mouth shut
After this whole experience after everything that i've been through
I am
able to
Let's say feel the energy of the room. I can read the room
I have also been known to read people
I never took a course in body language. I I
am no expert in it, but when
I'll give you a perfect example about three days ago. I had a colleague
Come down and you know
Hey, Katherine. How are you? I'm going i'm amazing. How are you? And he's like i'm great and I knew
I knew he was not okay
So the first thing out of my mouth I said why do you gotta lie to me like that
and uh, he kind of
Was a little shocked but they're my co-workers are rather used to it by now
And he's like you're not supposed to read me that quick this early in the morning
Um, so, you know i'm i'm able to really pick up on when people are being let's say disingenuous
When they're trying to hide something
Uh, and there's are some people that get intimidated by that
But really it comes from a place of love. It's not that I want to expose anything
It's that i'm really here to try to help
I'm here to help you, you know, if there's something that you can't process or even if you just need lunch
You know, i'm i'm here to help you
um
and also
With all of this happening
I think the greatest
Miracle that came out of it
Is that when I got my mind back?
I was able to basically see through all the bs
and um
I was able to see
this
multi-generational
trauma
And all of these issues that led up to all of this
And that gave me strength
And yes, I am
A little tired of being called. Oh, you're so strong
Oh, you know, sometimes you don't know how strong you can be when you're given nutrients
And so after I really started healing
And I went no contact with my family
And I relocated 800 miles north
Um to a place where I didn't know anyone on purpose. Um
My life has changed drastically
It's been a complete
Transformation
I've gone from 350 pounds to now about 198 or so
Uh, I am off of all medications and a psychiatrist actually told me. Thank you. Dr. Littman
I don't know if you're going to be watching but thank you. You saved my life
Um, he told me that he found no evidence of ever having the
Bipolar diagnosis to begin with and therefore he agreed to keep me off of all medications. So
That was a blessing
I have learned throughout not only my own journey not only
witnessing and really just
finding these patterns
in my own family, but also
Going through my own healing
And then listening to people's stories
And reading books the one that i'm reading right now by dr. Gabor Matei the myth of normal
He really just summarizes
perfectly
the the multi-generational trauma
I see the patterns
and
I honestly
Think that there's going to be a lot more people coming forward
saying
This happened to me
And this was not okay
And the abuse when i'm in my 30s 40s 50s 60s is still
happening
Now abuse doesn't have to be
Just you know beatings or or any other kind of, you know physical
Violation
It can be discreditation. It can be
Bullying it can be gaslighting. It can be lying. It can be manipulating it can be you know
Controlling it can be you know
Subterfuge it can be game playing it can it can come in so many different forms
and there's
A lot of people out there that I have seen especially on social media
That is saying I had to go no contact to save my life because this family is just so toxic
And then I see the other side and it's these mothers
And I don't know why it's specifically these mothers that go on to social media trying to plead their case
What they don't understand
Is that as they are trying to plead their case?
They're basically validating
The reason why the child has walked away from the family
in their stories i've
heard a lot of
perpetual self-victimization
So basically it wasn't my fault or so and so did that and that's why I did that
There's really no accountability
There's nothing saying
You know, I take responsibility and if it someone does say I take responsibility
It's always with a caveat it's always
Some other kind of issue on the side that makes them look better
And when people put this on social media, they don't
They don't realize
How tone deaf it comes across
And so, you know, it's it's just that point where yes life happens stuff happens
I'm in my 40s now
And I have to step up and heal from things I should never have to heal from but that does not make me the victim
I have done some bs things to people and i've said some bs things to people but that does not make me the victim
of circumstance
I own it
And i've apologized to who I can
But I think the biggest
let's say
form of self-love
Is to allow yourself to face the person in the mirror
And to let them know that hey
I might not have been there for you
Not when you were a child not when you were a teenager
But I am here now
And we can go through this
And yes what you've been through really sucks
But you are better than that and you can rise above and you have two choices
You can either follow in the footsteps of the family dynamics
Or you can be a cycle breaker
And step away and be better do better
my opinion on if I chose to
Let's say reincarnate into this trauma. Uh, if you'd like to if you'd like to call it that um
There is a certain aspect
That yes, we signed up for it and that is something that is unpleasant to think about
uh, and it is something that
I've come to find out is
more fact than fiction
When i'm doing my healings part of it has been regression therapy and to find out where some of these
some of these instances some of these
Personality traits really came from
and in part of it it was because
There was a situation
Where I was in a relationship with someone
who was
rather abusive in a narcissistic manner
and
I didn't finish that cycle
So in order to close the loop in order to close the cycle to learn the lessons to get through to what I needed to
do here and now
I had to finish that
I had to learn the lessons. I had to learn what to look for. I had to learn
you know
how to navigate in the world after something like that
and
I was born to
The toxic family that had that dynamic
And it has allowed me
To finish that cycle. So in order for us to evolve
To choose a lifetime of suffering rather than a lifetime of luxury
You see each path
It has its own pros and it has its own caveats, right? So
obviously being born into
You know into poverty would be different lessons than somebody born to
A toxic family structure, which is absolutely different to somebody who was born into wealth
But they all come
with their own lessons
Someone in poverty might have a very loving family
And those lessons that they navigate would be more
How do I get myself out of poverty?
But with a a loving family social structure
someone born to abuse might also be born into poverty or may
You know go into poverty after let's say in my case my father left
a lot that that comes with a lot of different lessons
And someone who was born, let's say into a wealthy family
Okay, you know great you are not hurting
For let's say tangible items, right jewelry watches clothes food
But are you being properly loved in that family?
So even though
We look at people with immense wealth as
Oh, they're lucky or you know, they they have these
Mentalities that are of entitlement any anything that we want to
Put on them are actually projections
of us
And I don't see
these kind of relations in
the same manner that let's say average america that
I don't look at let's say someone like elon musk and say
Oh, he's so lucky or on the flip side. Oh, he's such a jackal
Right, if that's not my decision to make i've never met the man. Yes, he might be successful
I've heard some of his stories good for you. You've learned your lessons. You've done what you need to do to accumulate this wealth
Bravo, right good for you
and I also don't see someone who is homeless on the street as somebody who
Is less than
I see someone who is suffering I see things like covid and war
And poverty and
You know all of these these really just negative things
Not so much as something that the creator
Would force upon the people
I think a lot of it has to do with we have our own choice
We have power of free choice
power of free thought
And with that power
Also comes these
Deadly sins that i'm pretty sure we all know of so greed and lust and gluttony
They're easy to fall victim to
Especially
when the
Person has kind of a moral ambiguity
somebody who puts
money or
You know stockholders
Puts their lives
above the lives of the people
above the lives that will
be
taken
How much blood is on those of the the war profiteers?
How much blood of the innocent is on?
let's say big pharma, you know, but the
The crisis with oxycodone
They they pushed it
For profit
How many lives are on their souls?
so
It really comes down a lot of it is to greed
Money can be sexy to many people
although
Money isn't everything
It does help get the bills paid. It does help people roof over your head
Um, it does help allow you to have that financial security and peace. Absolutely
But if you're doing evil with it
If you are allowing people to suffer
And not do anything about it
That's not god
God
Would not allow that
He is a gentle whisper
where the devil
He screams in your face
So it's a lot easier
To listen to evil and to be persuaded
by evil
than it is
to sit still
and listen
To the love and the guidance of what is right
So somebody that is living or growing up with a lot of let's say trauma like I did
I can only tell you what I chose what path I chose
uh, because i'm not
You know, i'm not a counselor. I'm not a therapist psychologist or anything
but for me
breaking off contact
With those who had actively sought to do me harm for their own benefit
That was the first act of self-love
That I had taken in a long time
And it was probably the biggest act of self-love
That I have done and I continue to remain no contact with
All but maybe two or three
blood relatives
When someone's going through a lot of trauma
You really can't see
through the darkness
and
It leads to a lot of severe consequences
For me obviously it was weight gain
and
A lot of it. I neglected my body which includes my oral health. So i'm working on fixing that as well
It it has to do a lot with with your nutritional choices
You know
This tastes good. So and it gives me a dopamine rush or what a sugar rush
So i'm gonna i'm gonna choose twinkies over an orange
It's it's simple small choices
That people need to start making
to help them heal
The smallest choice could be okay
i'm going to
Take a course on coursera or i'm going to watch a youtube video tutorial or i'm going to find out, you know
How to balance a budget i'm going to find out what a credit score is and why I need it
I'm gonna find out what kind of foods will actually nourish me
I'm gonna find out how to meditate i'm gonna find out, you know how to properly do
Exercises where I don't need to go to a gym
It's little
incremental steps
taken on a consistent basis
That allows the person to start healing from trauma
And when they get to a certain point they make these bigger decisions
And it keeps going up you keep elevating your life I don't have the same friends that I did three years ago
I have people surrounding me now that are
other business owners
I have people in my circle that
Are so
supportive
So when you start healing
you
Start finding people
That are now on that elevated level
Your friendships get better
Your relationships get better
And in fact just today
I had to
Face another one of my shadows
I was putting too much stress on myself
I'm a perfectionist by nature because of how I grew up
I had to figure things out on my own. I didn't have that support system
And so i've learned that i've even carried that into my 40s
But today I realized
Wait a minute
I have
my you know, I have such a circle i've got my
My life coach in my corner. I've got my friends in my corner
I've got my business alliances my my, you know service providers in my corner
I have some colleagues in my corner
I have you know, all of this support system that I just didn't even put, you know, two by two one by one together
I have all of these people cheering me on
I have my score mentor saying I believe in you. I even had an ex reach out a couple days ago saying I believe in you
And yet why don't I believe in myself
If they can see it
Why can't I see and so I invite you to take a look
my website is
Currently being upgraded. Um, so i'm not sure exactly where he's got at the process but take a look
at dawninginstitute.com
I also have a book being published. I am a co-author
