Eating at the ONLY FILIPINO RESTAURANT in Our UK Home Town! Lechon, Adobo, Sinigang & More

Hey guys, welcome to a brand new video. Today is, I say this every single video, it's a very exciting day. It is, actually. It always is, really. Him and Tom have driven all the way down from Manchester today to come and see us for the next few days. Unfortunately, we can't host them in our apartment because it's currently a building site and there's actually no extra bedrooms or anything for them. Hopefully in the future we can figure something out, but they're staying in an Airbnb just around the corner from us and we're gonna go meet them there in a second. I think they're literally just arriving now. And then we've got a dinner reservation in Brighton at a very exciting restaurant tonight. It's so nice that they're coming to see us. They're like such good friends of ours now. We always have the best conversations and the most fun with them. We get to see Onyx again, but we do need to head out right now. Need to just turn all the lights out and we'll see you guys when we get there. So the amazing thing is their Airbnb is a one minute drive from where we live. One minute. How cool, I mean they did plan to come and see us, but I still think that's quite cool because they could have gone anywhere in our hometown, but they're one minute away. Okay, I think this is their Airbnb. If it's not, you're walking into someone's house. It is. Hello. Wow. We weren't sure if we were walking into someone's house. This is nice. Hi. How are you? Hi. Right, let's get the stuff in, okay? So Kim and Tom are staying in the most incredible Airbnb. I did not realize there were Airbnbs like this in our little town. This video is mainly about the food this evening, but quickly, I might as well show you around whilst we're in a nice place. Really, really, really nice modern kitchen, a little seating area, a little mini Juicy Vlog room tour, even though it's not a place. They did say we could stay. Living area here with the TV, got Wi-Fi, Sonos speaker. Where's Addy? Quick, quick, quick, quick. Can I see your clothes? Quick, quick, quick, quick. Really nice modern bathroom. I'm doing a Juicy Vlog room tour, even though we're not staying here, although they said that we could. I know. There's another room for us. Because there are two bathrooms. Right, hands up, please. Through here. They're bathrooms in there. He's got a mouthwash in his mouth. He ran back in. Go back. And another bedroom in here. Good choice with the Airbnb. Yeah, it's amazing. Really, really nice. So spacious as well. I was saying, we didn't know how big the rooms would be, but you should definitely stay. Yeah, we should. Oh dear. Hair fixed. It's not fixed. They have literally had a few minutes to settle in and drop their bags off. Less than that. Our reservation is in 30 minutes and it takes 30 minutes to get there, so we need to go to the restaurant. We'll see you there. Hello. Ah, and this guy's changed. He's changed his outfit. Looking good. He's gone already. He's too quick to keep up with. He's loving exploring the new place for a couple of days. If you can hear some strange noises and some squeakings, then that is because there is half of our old kitchen in the back of the car, which I'm taking away tomorrow. But we are nearly at the restaurant. We just need to find somewhere to park. We are this evening going to a Filipino restaurant, which I'm, I'm excited about it. Yes, that is the first thing, but I'm more so, so curious. How is it going to be? Is it going to be like, there's only one Filipino restaurant in our town. I'm amazed there is one because I think there's three or four in London, but we checked and there's one in Brighton. So we're driving to Brighton right now to go to a Filipino restaurant, which is quite cool because firstly, we haven't had Filipino food in a long time at this point and we thought we have to try it. We have to try it. We got so used to eating a lot of Filipino food, spending so much time in the Philippines and for there to be a Filipino restaurant in our hometown. How can we not go? So it is very, very cold this evening. We're just heading to the restaurant now. We have no idea what to expect because we've never been to this Filipino restaurant before. Hopefully some Filipino food. Hopefully. I was going to say, will they have changed it for like a Western taste? Will it be authentic Filipino? Will they have all the favourites? Onyx hasn't had Filipino food yet. Really? Oh, wow. That's amazing. And I bet you haven't had it for a while. I've been craving Filipino food a lot. And I've been waiting because where we live in Manchester, there's no Filipino restaurants and so we've been looking everywhere. So when Georgia Lucy said we're going here, I've literally been on Instagram scrolling looking at the food. Oh really? See, we haven't seen the menu yet, so it's going to be a nice surprise for us. I'm hoping they might have Sinigang. My perfect Filipino meal, sharing a few different dishes would be maybe some Liempo, some Sinigang, some Lechon if they have it, garlic rice. Biko Express is probably one of my favourites. I don't know if they'll do that here because that's specific to a region in the Philippines, but this is fun. We're in our hometown with our friends who've never been here, eating Filipino food and vlogging together. Life's good. Is PewDiePie from here? Yeah, he is, yeah. That's nice, isn't it? We can post shots later. I feel really Christmassy now. I think I've been a few times when I was a child with my mum. Yeah, because it's quite near to where I live, right? Where my mum lives. It's what you would call somebody, but not in a rude way. A nice witch. I hear your mum going, oh, Bruja. Really? My lips feel frozen when I'm talking. Let's go inside. Bruja is something he would call if somebody was being seen. You're a witch. Nice. Yeah, that's a good idea, yeah, definitely. That'd be great. You know how I've been feeling really sick? Now I'm just like, give me anything, give me everything. I don't even care anymore. And because I've not had loads of meat in a long time, I'll have a bit here and there, especially chicken when I was pregnant with Onyx. Now when I eat it, it's like I've turned into a cave person. She literally makes these noises. I don't know why I'm making this noise. Why are these noises coming out? Is the chicken adobo? Yes. Oh, we have to get that. Can we just read some of the menu out to you guys? So we've got some starters, we've got some olympia. We've got... There's loads of things. They do barbie chicken with mayonnaise. There's adobo flavoured chicken wings. There's normal adobo. They have... Is there liempo? Maybe the barbecue stuff. There's lechon kawali. Oh, yes, please. There's sisig, pancit. Oh, sinigang? Sinigang. Oh, the sinigang. Yeah. What do you want to try? You just let us know. If Lucy says something you like, you let us know, okay? Some green beans and garlic. Lots of vegetables. We've got an online supplier. Oh, okay, okay. We've managed to find one person who does it. Oh, wow. So it's in demand. Very special. Wow, that's amazing. I have not seen calamansi in the UK. No, I've never seen it. First calamansi. Enjoy it. It must be so cold. So rare. It's far away from home. So refreshing. I had mine without sugar because I want to try it without and then maybe add a little bit in, but... I've just missed that. The sweetness is perfect. Yeah? Is it good? It's really good. Yum. I meant the beer. Take a guess what it is. Senegal? Yes. I'd like to say it was my palate, but yeah, Senegal. Can you show me that again? So we've ordered quite a lot. We've ordered four mains and two starters. And when we said, if we get two starters and three mains, is that too much? And the guy was like, quite a lot. Then we ordered four mains and two starters. So we actually ordered way more than we should have done. So we have... So we've got chicken adobo, vegetable sinigang, barbecue chicken skewers, and lechon kawali. Thank you. Some garlic rice and some plain rice. I think it all comes... Oh no, jasmine rice I think it comes with. And the fritters. And then, yeah, we've got the ukoy, prawn fritters, and some vegetable lumpia. So we've ticked a lot of boxes. I'm very happy. And now we've just got to wait for it to come, I guess. Wow. Let's move this out of the way. Actually, this is probably better to slide on. Yeah, yeah, get it around. It's good. Chicken adobo. Thank you so much. They look so good. Wow. How exciting. It definitely looks like the street food style skewers. With like the glaze, you know, the sweet glaze. I'm looking forward to trying that. Wow. Oh my God. Straight and sweet. I'm going to go for this big bit here, I think. So we've got some crispy skin here. Wow. Is it in focus? Yeah. That looks... Looks good. Crispy? Yeah. I'm going to get some rice. It's been a long time. Oh, it looks really nice. Tender meat. I feel like I've forgotten how to use a spoon and fork. It's been that long. It's been months. Is it crispy? Really good. Nice and salty. Loads of flavour. Good portion size as well. I feel really sad for you that you're watching me eat. We need to tuck in. Our little companion here. Ready for his first taste of Filipino food. Alright, so Lucy and I are about to try the chicken adobo. It's been a while since we... I can't remember when we last had this. Maybe when I cooked it. One of you guys will probably tell us when we last had this, but let's try. It's really vinegary actually. Really vinegary. I think there's more vinegar than soy sauce. Than normal. It's really good. Very good. Thank you. Thank you so much. Slightly, I would say slightly different flavour to what we last had. Definitely more vinegar. More vinegar, which I love. Oh, it's good. So I've also got... Some crispy vegetable lumpia here. So good. The perfect companion. Yeah. Onyx is enjoying. Kim, is it good? Really good. I've just tried the little one. And the okoy. And it's really, really tasty. What do you think? Is it yummy? Oh, this is so nice guys. We are tucking it into some Filipino food. It's been a while for all of us. Barbecue chicken. I'm going to try now my favourite. Lechon. Kawali. Crispy skin. Lucy's already gone in with this. She said it was crispy. She said it was juicy in the middle. Oh wow. This is good. It's a little spicy. So, so good. I just had some of the chicken barbecue. Oh, amazing. Thank you. Our soup bowls. And it really reminds me of the one we had that was near our place in BGC. The street food market before it closed down. Oh yeah, that was great. I just walked back up the stairs and I'm really out of breath. What was that called? What was it called? How have we forgotten? It's got the exact same flavour. It's like a sweet glaze over it. I can't get over this. This is authentic. Delicious. Lechon kawali. And I'm not just saying it because we haven't had it for a while. Or because it's the only Filipino restaurant in town. And they haven't invited us here tonight. We just found it on Google. And we wanted to try it out. But that. If you're not Filipino and you're watching this. And you live in the area. Or you're visiting Brighton. I can already recommend this restaurant. The vibe is cool. It's really, really nice. It's got a quirky interior. Just come for this. If you only want to try one thing. Come for this. Lechon kawali. So I'm trying the sinigang quickly here. It's probably my favourite Filipino dish, I think. It's so light and fresh. I miss that sour flavour. Nothing's done that to my mouth since I've been in the Philippines. It's a very weird sentence. My mouth hasn't felt that way in a few months. It hasn't. No English food is like that, is it? There's no flavour like it. This guy's happy. Have you guys tried the adobo yet? Yeah, it's really good, isn't it? You need to try. So Tom definitely wanted the chicken adobo. I know, I've been wanting this for so long. Let me give you some adobo. It's a bit different. It is different. It's very vinegary, I think. It's more vinegar. It is quite different. It's not good, though. Yeah, it is really good. It is a softer taste. Oh, you're still eating rice. Sorry, I thought you were trying the dessert. Because the dessert has arrived. How's that for a segue? We have Tehran banana and ube, which, oh my God, we have missed this. It looks so good. Traditional dessert. I'm still on the rice, but I'll move on in about a minute or so. You finish your rice. Enjoy your rice. It ends the meal. It's like a palate cleanser. It's like a sorbet for me. Nice and crispy. So good. Ice cream as well. What is in that? There's something else in there, isn't there? It's not just banana and jackfruit. There's like magic. Like a magic ingredient. I got it as well. It hits after and it's like. Wow, really? I'm telling you. Well, it is Brighton, land of many, many things. Ube, please. That little one's ube? Yeah. Okay, I'm going to try the ube with a little bit of ice cream. I'll have the ice cream after, so I can try this. It's just like you. And hopefully we'll get some of that. Yes, look at that bright purple flavour in there. This camera's been a legend today. It is, like the focus is working perfectly. I can't believe you still eat it. So good. So tasty. Oh my God, I should not have used my fingers. So sticky. Is this banana? Yeah. I want the banana one as well. I should not have used my fingers for this. It is super sticky. Stripping, stripping, stripping, stripping. Yum. So good. Really, really sweet. Oh, so delicious. I think banana, the traditional banana is my favourite, definitely. It's delicious. A quick pram lesson, this is the pram we've got. It's usually got like this hook. It's usually got that hook on it. So unflick that hook. So basically, you can't see that, it's dark. Yeah, unflick that hook and then flick that up. Okay, yeah. And then just grab it now we have and just lift it up. Like that way? Just sort of straight up and it will flip out. Just one hand? Basically what's going to happen is the two wheels are going to separate. Right, so you've got like a baby there. Yeah, basically the two wheels are going to separate. Ready? Yay! Yes!
