hello guys welcome back to the channel
welcome to a new video today's video is
going to be a lot of fun it is and it's
going to be interesting discover some
things today yes ever since we announced
pregnancy we've had a lot of people
messaging us that are from the
philippines or living in the philippines
that have these kind of
are they superstitions or yes things
that people believe uh or some people
believe here i think um when it comes
comes to pregnancy and they're really
interesting like i've never heard some
of them before a few of them have
surprised us quite a lot yeah so when i
wanted to do a video today uh find some
more and kind of react to them with you
guys definitely we were reading the
comments on our announcement video and
because we went to burakai and announced
pregnancy people were sending us
messages and commenting these
philippines filipino superstitions we've
read a few in the comments people
actually people kind of say what we say
is is this if you're feeling this then
this yeah the main one that stood out
for us quickly is
apparently if you're blooming and
looking more beautiful you're having a
girl but if you are becoming less
attractive is that what they said you're
having a boy less attractive or like
they were less attractive darker armpits
darker armpits there's so many anyway
we've found a list i think mine are the
same right i think so that would mean
girl we're gonna go through them and
react to them basically today because we
have we've only heard of one of one or
two have a look at these today if you
know any others comment as well or
wherever you're from in the world if you
have these superstitions in your country
exactly if you live in spain and there's
something that spanish people believe is
to be true when you're pregnant or about
a baby or something like is there any
truth to these it they must come from
somewhere there must be like a good
record of some of these being accurate
anyway okay number one this is really
unusual and it really surprised me
reading these words don't look at ugly
people while pregnant so apparently if i
start looking at ugly people
my baby is going to be ugly
okay how do you decide i was ugly like
that physically i don't think yeah
like it's already it already knows what
it's going to look like already that
can't be that's already been decided
i mean i don't know like firstly it's
very mean saying anyone's ugly we would
never say that imagine being pregnant
and being like oh they're ugly i better
not look at them that's so mean i'm not
like that okay so if a pr if a pregnant
person ever tries to avoid
looking at me
you know why i know why they think i'm
ugly
and savage number two so harsh so here
is a an article actually written by
mccarty medical center that says six
pregnancy superstitions debunked so
they've gone through them
and they're saying scientifically it's
not true a pregnant woman's cravings
will affect the baby's appearance so
another one on what the baby looks like
now could there be some science behind
this could
what because your nutrition grows the
baby right yes so could there be like if
you're super healthy could your baby
look a certain way or if you eat certain
type of how do you test that but no
because surely the looks just come from
the parents
yeah i think so i think once they're out
what you feed them could affect how they
look yeah maybe
all right okay so for an example for
this one is chocolate or darker colored
foods it's said to give the baby a
darker complexion while light-colored
food like milk is said to contribute to
lighter skin but every baby drinks milk
yeah
i don't think that can be true avoid
wearing necklaces or wrapping towels
around your neck no no i'm clear i
haven't actually won a necklace in a
while i mean towels are white harmless
accessories worn around the neck
according to the superstition will cause
the umbilical cord to wrap around the
baby's neck so it's kind of like if i do
it it's going to happen to them
okay it's possible you're not
superstitions that's the whole name of
the game isn't it yeah it's like
people don't do things
superstitions are more about what you
don't do it's like don't walk on three
drains yeah don't don't walk under a
ladder don't open an umbrella indoors
pregnant women should avoid attending
funerals
the consequences of the superstition
differ depending on which version you
hear i'm gonna stop you there i thought
this video was light-hearted and a bit
of fun but so far this is like quite
quite deep isn't it
well sorry they're not funny
superstitions so hopefully we'll get
some good interesting ones the first one
was okay so don't go to funerals and
don't wear necklaces okay
eating twin bananas can increase the
chance of having twins so you know like
twin food when you crack a egg and you
yeah yeah
we had a twin banana once in our lives
and we vlogged and we were excited about
it
if you want twins you have to go on a
hunt and find all the twin foods
but also
if you're already pregnant you can't
create a twin
that's not there
oh really i just thought you just
do it again and there'll be another baby
don't sew or step over ropes to avoid
labor difficulties so if i have a hole
in my t-shirt i'm not allowed to sew up
okay that's so interesting
i really want to know where these come
from like what age like what generation
what
they could be like centuries old they
will be because it's the old wives tales
thing think about it 200 years ago no
google so if someone told you can't
google it you have to make it up if
someone told you not to wear a necklace
you're not going to wear a necklace
exactly and also if someone said
oh it's going to have darker complexion
if you eat dark food you're like well
yeah that kind of makes sense because i
haven't been told anything else i
haven't googled through an alternative i
haven't read that i'm just fascinated by
history yeah it kind of scares me as
well think how more advanced we are now
yeah because if you want to invent
something just google how to invent it
even compared to when our parents had
kids like when we showed them the scan
they're like wow it was so different to
when i had babies
yeah
it's like things have advanced so much
although i still think ultrasound come
on
it's still black and white
true i think a coloured ultrasound would
be nice if
ultrasounds could hurry up with that 4k
still looks like 240p you can get 4d
sounds so yeah but i think like with
cameras these days should be able to see
a better image if the pregnant woman has
spots or dark areas on the body so dark
spots and dark areas i've got freckles
right actually i did have a slight dark
look here blimey there's a little tiny
but i had this this was one of the
symptoms i had when i was like oh i
could be pregnant because there's
something in the pigmentation of your
skin you can get random dark patches and
i've got two little dark patches here
and i found them before i knew i was
pregnant so that was something that made
me want to take a pregnancy test
actually out of interest um so that
means what
boy baby boy right according to these
two spots we're having a boy okay
oh this is similar this is what you're
saying and on and if the woman appears
more refreshed and blooming she's having
a girl
right okay so i don't know do i appear
blooming to you or do i appear worse to
you
about saying to be honest yeah i feel
the same what um will be interesting is
when we find out what we are having if
we can link back to this video and did
any of these things happen well it's
gonna it's very likely that what it's
gonna be a boy or a girl isn't it so
both of these things will be true oh
yeah true okay there's something here
called usog or the the stranger's evil
eye
uzog is an age-old filipino superstition
the belief states that discomfort like
fever floating nausea and vomiting is
brought to the baby by a stranger or
visitor who is said to have an evil eye
oh a simple greeting from the visitor is
said to be enough to cause this curse to
counter this the stranger would need to
say fuera o song while licking his thumb
and applying saliva while tracing it
across the infant's forehead this
superstition has no scientific basis
what that sounds like lion king stuff
like simba
thanks
yeah
good that does sound weird but that also
sounds a bit like there's we did a video
a while ago that was requested and it
was all about filipino mythical
creatures and it sounded a little bit
like that like someone's visiting you in
your house and it's like this mythical
creature was it
you song
or something
the mythical creature what was it called
oh sorry i thought you're still talking
about that
um yeah i do remember oh what was the
name
awesome
yeah something like that if you know
that famous filipino mythical creature
comment below i can see it as wang or
something as
oh something like that i don't know and
here it says if the child has two hair
curls like you know when you have like
we'd call it a crown oh yeah like one
two like a double crown yeah he or she
will be naughty
so if it's one we're good if it's two
they're gonna be a nightmare okay we'll
look out for that that's what we'll be
doing on the day of the birth
i'll be there with my little book of
like superstitions like
you're checking are you naughty or not
all right those are the superstitions we
found online um i think a lot of you
wanted us to make this video so hope it
was fun us looking at these
we're not sure if there's british ones
off the top of our head we can't think
of any english ones but maybe we'll do
some research there's got to be some any
line up like phrases you say or like
things that we're just used to then we
could do another version of english
superstitions because obviously we're
english in the baby's english or british
or whatever let's see if any come true
who knows keep an eye on the channel
make sure you are subscribed to make
sure i felt really sick in the first
trimester have you gone in july is that
you put this did you do this to my head
at night when i sleep no i can confirm i
did not do that okay 100
yeah thanks so much for watching please
give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed
today's video and we'll see you in a
vlog very very soon bye
