Spend the Day in Dayton With Me

All right guys, we're going from my home in Columbus, Ohio, to Dayton, Ohio. Driving
through Springfield, but not a lot of time to stop on the way. Gotta watch your back, you know. Just
kidding. I like Springfield. I went there a lot growing up, too. But I've got family in Dayton,
but we're actually going tonight for a different event. Pre-election wind-up events. It's a
Lincoln Day. They organize, but it's more about rallying the local troops, and so let's roll.
Hey guys, it's good to see you. Hey, we're changing the car
suit. Been in the short shorts. Excited, guys. What time's the event's almost underway, right?
Yeah, it started at 7. Good. Oh, good. Great to be here. Thank you. Wes, good to see you. Good
to see you. I'm Chairman Phil Plummer. Phil Plummer, how are you doing? Good to meet you,
Phil. Thanks for all you're doing for us, buddy. Thank you for all you're doing. Gotta go all out.
Yeah, right. There's an old expression, and I'm a tennis fanatic. I played with the OSU team,
actually, this morning, and they say either you win or you leave blood on the court. Well,
we better not have blood on the court. Yeah. So, what do you want me to do there?
Tight. So, say a few words. Okay, got it. Shaking hands, you know. Okay, good.
How are you? How you doing, guys? Good. Good to meet you. Glad to have you here.
Looking good. Thanks, guys. Thanks a lot. I appreciate everything you're doing tonight.
Thank you. So, at this age, almost immediately. Perfect. Yeah. And then,
let's do that. Sounds great. I'm going on about 715. You're going about 750. Perfect.
Hey, guys. Hello. How are you? Good to see you. My pleasure. Here we are. Thanks for what you're
doing, Mark. Great to see you guys. Great to see you, man. I love the tie, guys. Great to see you
guys. Good to be here. Those of us in this room, we've lived the American dream, and the question
is, what sacrifice are we willing to make to pass it on? And our founding fathers, they made
a sacrifice 250 years ago, so we could be here today, enjoying the blessings of liberty. And I
think the question for us is, what sacrifice are we willing to make today, so our kids and our
grandkids will be saying the same thing? I painted that. You did it yourself? Yeah. Oh, wow. I'm a
dating artist here. The last time I saw you in person was when we were at the state
committee when you brought your book. Oh, yeah. That was a while ago. That's right.
Three years ago. Yes, sir. I remember that meeting. It was a contentious one.
I'm the next Ohio Senate, and I say, together we win. That's right. That's the way. Yeah. I love
that. Together we win. Yes. There we go. Perfect. I'd like to help you. Thank you. I'll take it.
We all need it. If I can help or help, let me know. Great group there, guys. I like these guys.
That's awesome. Good energy in that room. Yeah, it was awesome. There's like all kinds of people.
Why'd you like it? You've got about 12 minutes. Yeah. We're just collecting my thoughts a little
bit. Yeah, collect your thoughts. We're going to hang out in the back. If you get a cold water,
I would take one. No problem at all. No stress if not. Hello, sir. Hey, Mike. How are you?
Good. How are you? Good. We got somebody here with us. We're old friends of Mike right here.
How are you, brother? Good. How are you doing? Good, good, good. We're in Dayton. You should
come here sometime. Yeah, I was supposed to come, but I had an event on Tuesday. Okay.
Yeah, you're kind of busy. I follow your tweets and your posts. They're funny.
They crack me up. How's the family? Good. Applause for Phil right here.
That was fun. Good group. And it's kind of fun to give some of the speeches where,
similar to the speeches that I've given, but to sort of get a little more conversational.
There's a local artist actually. I forgot her name. She signed it, but she said she made this
obviously after the tragic incident in Pennsylvania. I mean, it was amazing that we
don't even talk about it. And it was like just three months ago, but she says it's gotten
controversial at like a gallery or something like that where she made this, but she gave this to me
as a gift. So I told her we're going to keep this up in our home for the next 55 days and make sure
that we use it as our call to action to make sure we have a country to save and remind ourselves how
close we are to the precipice. But anyway, very talented artists. They're just in search of like
what they can do. And it's a hard question to answer because it's so much pent up energy,
but ahead of an election, there's a great assignment. A, show up and vote and get as many
people you know who are eligible to go do the same thing. And that's what I tried to do tonight.
And so it's hard to get a pulse for how successful we're going to be in this, you know, community.
But if people here are representative at all, I think if they spread that energy, then yeah,
I think we're going to hit it out of the park. Dayton, we drove by Springfield on the way back
as well. And both boys were asleep. Too bad I missed them. But see if we can't drop one of
school tomorrow morning. Tomorrow evening's Michigan. So, you know, hitting the road hard,
but 53 days left. So what are you going to do? Got to get to our part. Well,
good seeing you guys. We'll get inside and we'll see you next time.
