OUR DOG DIED - TELLING THE KIDS

the rest of our day is probably going to suck Tyler we have something to tell you but it's not it's what we're gonna taste them [Music] [Music] good morning everyone today has so far been a pretty easy day look I'll clean my kitchen is that doesn't happen unless things are going pretty smooth unfortunately today is going to be a really really difficult day I'm not looking forward to it so first things first Tyler Lee in art school Beverly's playing quietly in her room which is amazing she would not nap and I was like you know what let me just see if I can get her out and shut the door and it should display and she is so praise Lord for that she's been really grumpy lately and not at all fun to be around Jude and Addie are in the office with John I don't know what they're doing last I saw they were looking at something on YouTube but John's mom is getting ready to head it over here she's gonna stay with you daddy and of well we take mer into Tyler School if you guys saw that project that I helped her make her classes having like a a museum and they're all setting up their little Arctic dioramas and parents can come in and see it all and then something some sort of little thing you know like they do in first grade so we are gonna head to that with her and then we'll probably bring Tyler and Alena home and then the rest of our day is probably going to suck so earlier this week John's mom called us and told us that she put Francis outside on the porch she has it like a little gate that and he son Bates out there and he just really like enjoys spending time outside and on the porch where he's safe and she was vacuuming so he hates the vacuum and she stuck him outside so she could go vacuum thinking that the gate was closed and it wasn't and I guess when she went looking for him she found him in the road he did not make it so we have the heart-wrenching job of telling the kids today I didn't want to tell them earlier in the week because I didn't want them to be upset after school or like through dinner or have to wake up and go to school the next day I just wanted to give them the week when they could feel all the feelings and recover a little bit they have gymnastics tomorrow so that'll give them something to look forward to it's gonna be hard it's gonna be hard I think for probably not so much Addie Jude and Elena but especially for Tyler like this her dog and she I mean the girl cries it were like flies and bugs dying so like I know you know it's hard enough to like lose a pet but any this is the first time being a parent that I've had to like break that news to them other than when the fish died and fish isn't not the same as a dog and I mean I think it's a kind of a blessing that Francis has been living with Graham and not us for so long because that little bit of distance might help some oh but I know it's going to be really hard for her she's gonna take care of her so John and I talked and we are not going to we're not going to film telling her we're cool with like sharing our lives and like being transparent and open and like but I don't want to film the heartache and her heart breaking like that is just to me I don't feel right about that but we said if she feels up for it later on we'll let her blog some and just share some of her feelings with you guys you know but it's totally her choices I'm like so dreading it you guys like so sad and she oh you know as a parent your heart just like hurts so bad for your kids anyway I'm gonna go check on John he's in there kids see what he's doing let's go find out you guys I've been keeping my house pretty clean and it's kind of a miracle I still have a little bit to declutter but it takes like five minutes to clean up now that we've gotten rid of so much stuff and that's amazing I've no wonder they're so quiet it's gonna yeah it's good man yeah did that one end wait wait wait just okay Graham should be here any minute and we're gonna have a good day right Judy what are you upset for us to watch tube tube guys you didn't know that I Danielle's married to an 18 year old boy more like 15 year old looking I mean looks like a baby it looks like a baby okay all right all right we're gonna snuggle with our kids down before we crush those guys Colleen what are you doing I'm waiting for my yes so now he's supposed to be even looks you know gully okay peanut belly Billy there's right here [Music] all right we are heading out my mom's here so we're gonna get she grabs on it you real quick I have a local place and then go to Tyler's little habitat day arctic day whatever day who were bringing for Tyler for her snack they're having like special treats so we're bringing this for her [Music] why are you doing here do they know and do you know about the project what you did or do you know about the snowy owl you can tell me all about it no well yeah show me your teeth we are missing both teeth from the Tooth Fairy autographed but to Sherry herself yeah that's how we knew no Tooth Fairy because look at those signatures tooth looks fantastic look at this signature right here thank two teeth in there yeah that's how we you Elena come on yeah what's up exactly yeah they want to come home yesterday you should come home today so Elena dude won't come home with us fair enough fair enough fair enough but we're about to take Tyler home mom is there such a good time and she smiled so big at me that I was like that's the biggest smile I've ever seen oh my gosh what Tyler we have something to tell you but it's not it's grant Isum I'm trying John I enjoying in my head to think of it and there's no there's no positive ways I wanna tell you before we got beauty well Graham called daddy the other day she was really upset Frances my car went to doggy heaven I guess she's okay she processed him a little awkwardly she cried a little left laughed a little no she's good now she's good so that went a lot better than I thought it would which is nice that the perspective is there she was upset but not as absurd she was a easy our neighbors she was more upset so that's good sometimes people get more upset or animals than people because I like blackout I don't think those are feeling say I 7 those give you day just now okay I know buddy but he's in heavy Wars and they're playing in the dog the dog park in heaven thanks for being here today say chase yeah talk to you mom so dinner tonight is smoothies and pasta yeah [Laughter] [Music] okay guys mommy made some pasta and it is straight five yards and I'll eat your pasta cause it's yummy you've got fresh food let's say hi to the world let's tell everyone we're getting ready winding down the night we just got all the kids to bed and he's still up Malena still up but I think they're hopefully going to see nope okay you guys we did Tyler sleeping now we were gonna have her chat with you guys but she's sleeping but I will say this she handled it insanely better having them I could have imagined we actually did so public highs and lows what we call peak and pit I've heard it both ways of our day at dinner time everyone went around and said like the best and worst part or we said like you're weak I think nobody said anything about braces like the worst part was what was the worst like their lows were like mm-hmm just not even real lows like it was just like pretty obviously wasn't like that I was surprised so she seems fine I was worried we're gonna have like a little mini memorial service and like we're all black and go into a period of mourning are you
