The 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinals continue as Levi's Stadium hosts Mexico and Honduras
live across the region and across the world.
We've had incredible drama in these Gold Cup knockouts already.
Two big upsets in the quarterfinals, now what kind of twists will we all live through over
the next 90 minutes to decide the second finalist?
The penultimate game of the 2025 Gold Cup.
We are rolling in Santa Clara, California in the Gold Cup semifinal, Mexico meaning
to reach the final for an eighth time in the last 10.
Honduras testing this right side again.
They have three white shirts arriving this time, stepping onto the left foot and a shot
was blocked.
Corner for Honduras, the first of this semifinal.
Out swinging ball taken from that far flag, lifted toward the top of the 18.
First header one from Honduras, second ball wouldn't sit down for them.
Couple hands go up in the box looking for a penalty.
Just one arriving in the middle and the ball forward comes for a right footed effort first
time from Anthony Lozano.
Honduras, what can they make from that deflected try and Malakon has to make the save, it is
near post.
They've won their games.
This one into the middle for Alvarado, checks back in, pulls it back for Vega, who skied
it.
Better from Mexico though.
It's the first time that we've seen him in Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
It's swung in by Alvarado.
Good ball, but Menjivar dropped it.
It's still loose, still alive, scuffed into the middle and somehow falls into Menjivar's
hands and he thanks his lucky stars and whatever else caused that to somehow end up in his
hands.
I think he was looking for the foul initially, but it did not arrive.
Fantastic ball in from Alvarado into a dangerous air and just chaos starts to ensue here.
You know a team's dominating possession when the center back's that high.
Now slid down the line and pulled back in the direction of Ruiz.
Ruiz!
Saved Menjivar!
Second ball scrambled wide.
Shouts for a penalty from Mexico, for now it's a corner, VAR will take a look.
They'll be the happier with how this first half, Honduras, swing it in toward that far
post, it's flicked out, it will be a corner.
Now here is a touch inside for Mota, lays it off, Raul Jimenez scores!
They call him, he solves problems, he solves Honduras' holdout and gives Mexico the lead
in the Gold Cup semifinal.
Dream start to this second half for Mexico, the better side in the first half, the ability
to create opportunity after opportunity.
Makes the difference, Mota is in again for them here.
By the end line, Mota pulls it back, what a save!
And then scrambled away, Mexico almost scored twice in a minute.
Menjivar, just as he did against Panama, keeping Honduras in it for now.
How good has Mota been in the last...
Vega leaves it for Alvarado, great ball in and it deflects off the post, saved on the
line and then scrambled in!
And Mexico have a second!
It's the captain, Edson Alvarez!
Potentially lethal second, but referee Juan Calderon saying just hold on, decision has
been reached after VAR review, let's see what he's being shown.
Was that enough of an action from the defender to negate the offside?
So it appears that's been determined that the player was off, offside, no goal and Honduras
stay within one by an inch!
Those three combining so well.
Mota, patient, then whips in the cross to the back post, he was trying to pick out Raul
Jimenez again, great defensive header from the captain Danil Maldonado.
Whipped in and too long over all those white shirts.
Second ball, opportunity to recycle here, left footed cross in and Malagon was flapping
at it from Rosales, first time ball into the middle but again the center back Vasquez in
the way.
It's over!
Mexico are back in the final and on the doorstep of La Decima!
