Best Dishwashers of 2025: Top Picks for Every Budget
The best dishwashers combine effective washing systems, the ability to dry,
and well-designed racks. They also shouldn't sound like a freight train in your kitchen,
especially if your kitchen is open in your living room. That's pretty much what a dishwasher does.
In this video, you'll find a breakdown of the best dishwashers available.
If you want a hassle-free dishwasher, consider the LG.
According to over 33,000 service calls logged by our service department last year,
LG is the most reliable dishwasher, and no, I don't get paid by LG to say that.
You can also go watch our reliability videos to see how every brand on this list compares.
This dishwasher offers plenty of cycles, adjustable racks, and Wi-Fi capability.
It also features LG's Quad Wash Pro wash arm system,
which uses rotating high-pressure jets to clean dishes from multiple angles.
You have a steam generator up front to help loosen tough stains.
Steam is also part of LG's Dynamic Drying System,
which uses heat, steam, and a fan to dry plastics more effectively.
In our tests, this LG dishwasher performed well,
though was slightly outperformed by the more expensive Bosch and Miele models.
Operating at 42 decibels, LG beats the industry standard for quietness,
so you won't hear running in the next room.
Profile has incorporated their successful odor mold and moisture prevention package
from their washing machines into their new line of dishwashers.
They now feature antimicrobial microband surfaces in both the outside handle
and interior filters, just in time for flu season.
Additionally, a fan circulates fresh air into the dishwasher, reducing moisture and bacteria.
The wash system includes four spray jets specifically for silverware and bottles.
I like this feature.
In our tests, nearly every dishwasher did a good job washing bottles without this feature.
Profile dishwashers offer more capacity for silverware in both the basket and the third rack.
Profile dishwashers operate at 42 decibels,
making them quiet enough for open concept kitchens.
Unlike many quiet dishwashers,
Profile still manages to include a hard food disposal dubbed the Piranha.
GE still operates the largest service department of any appliance manufacturer,
although it's now called Bodewell for some reason.
Since 95% of retailers don't employ a single service technician,
finding repair services can be challenging.
In many areas, including yours, GE is a solid service alternative.
I had a hard time placing these dishwashers.
Both are the best of both brands, but I wouldn't recommend either.
Miele is now technically the quietest at 37 decibels,
although the motor slows down for a four-hour cycle.
The Bosch Benchmark operates at 38 decibels, but it really doesn't matter.
You don't need a dishwasher quieter than 44 decibels to not hear it.
Seriously, what's quieter than something you can't hear?
The less expensive models from both brands,
the Bosch 800 and Miele G7186, are quiet enough for 42 decibels.
You'll save $400 in the Bosch and $1,500 in the Miele
by going into their more popular models.
You still get the best features just for much less money.
The Miele's G7186 are the most popular and the best G7000 series of dishwashers.
The G7186 has many of the top features found in the highest-end G7986 model.
The Bosch 800 series is nearly identical to the Benchmark for $400 less.
Miele makes excellent dishwashers.
Miele and Bosch are the best each for different reasons.
Miele dishwashers are equipped with three full spray arms.
Most other brands like Bosch, GE, and LG have two wash arms and a sprinkle head.
Bosch in the end has the power control spray arm,
allowing you to change the intensity of the spray on the bottom rack to low, medium, and high.
By using the app, you can divide the bottom rack into four
so you can wash china and regular dishes in the same load.
In addition to standard cycles,
these modes include unique options like the 58-minute quick intense wash for Miele
or the speed 60 cycle for the Bosch for slightly soiled dishes.
The new Miele models are like the Swiss Army knife of dishwashers.
They can accommodate any plate, platter, or kitchen accessory.
Like other premium dishwashers, this Miele has a third rack for several,
which frees up space in the bottom for plates and larger racks.
Unlike other brands, Miele's silverware rack secures each piece,
preventing scratches during the wash.
For racking, Miele is better than Bosch.
Remember, it's almost $1,000 more.
Both drying systems work.
Miele's drying system is simple yet highly effective.
Dishwasher pulls cooler air from the kitchen.
It'll pour it at the bottom, which attracts the steamier hotter air,
condensing it into water.
Additionally, the dishwasher door automatically pops open
at the end of the cycle to release heat and steam.
Bosch is the best using Zeolite,
an organic element to emit heat and absorb moisture to driving plastics.
Both operate well below the 44 decibel level of quietness at 42 decibel.
While I'm not a fan of using the word revolutionary for dishwashers,
Miele's automatic detergent dispensing system may qualify.
It automatically dispenses the right amount of detergent at the right time
using its 20-load power disk.
As gimmicky as it sounds, many clients report noticeably cleaner dishes.
Miele will give you more features, better racking and better washing
versus the better drying of a Bosch at almost $1,000 less.
KitchenAid 200 Series features a ProWash cycle
with soil sensing capabilities for more efficient cleaning.
This model also includes a light wash cycle,
ideal for wine glasses, fine china, or express wash for faster cleaning.
At 39 decibels, this KitchenAid is nearly silent.
And KitchenAid's prices drop from $11.49 in 2021 to $7.99 in 2025,
making a great value for its albeit limited features.
You may have noticed that all the other dishwashers have a similar door.
Fisher & Paykel offers something different, two pull-out doors.
The top drawer can be larger for added capacity,
or you can offer two equally sized drawers.
Drawers have their pros and cons.
In the positive size, you don't have to bend down
to reach the top drawer like you would with other dishwashers on this list,
so it's much easier to load.
However, the drawers load differently from a traditional dishwasher,
so the experience may not be right for you.
For purchasing, I recommend bringing a few of your frequently used dishes
to a showroom and testing how they fit into the drawer.
It's worth considering if you're looking for something unique.
Just remember, when searching for a decent dishwasher,
keep in mind there are alternatives beyond Bosch and Miele.
