I'm Pat Patterson and I love California. Thanks to the L.A. Times for covering our Emmy nomination
and if you want to go see our World War II California part one, go to our YouTube,
but you can also check out these places in person this weekend. Check out the Lighter Than Air
hangar out in Tustin. I used to go to these when I was a kid. They held blimps during World War II.
It later became a helicopter base LTA. Now it's the Marine Base Tustin.
Also go check out Goleta where the Japanese attacked. The only land attack during World
War II by the Japanese. It happened right south of the Ritz-Carlton Santa Barbara.
Then go to Timbers up there off of the 101 and you can see some of the timbers
that were taken from the derricks that were blown up. One that many of you already been to
but maybe didn't know was World War II, Queen Mary. It ferried troops fastest thing on the
ocean so it was put to work as the gray ghost ferrying troops back and forth across the Atlantic.
Last but not least, the amazing gun batteries up above San Pedro and what used to be Fort MacArthur
not named after Douglas MacArthur, named after his father Arthur MacArthur. And you can see
these bunkers up there just above the the Korean Friendship Bell. You have to wind your way up there
but there's also a little museum for Fort MacArthur. So happy Fourth of July. Read the
article in the LA Times. Like us on YouTube. Pat Pattison's Best of California. Talk to you soon.
