Welcome to daily English podcast today's episode a real job interview conversation. Let's jump in
Hi, Jay. Welcome. It's great to meet you. How are you today?
Hi, Emma. Thank you for having me. I'm doing well slightly nervous to be honest, but excited for the opportunity
That's completely normal. No pressure at all. This is just a friendly conversation to get to know you better
Shall we begin?
Absolutely, I'm ready. So to start off. Can you tell me a little about yourself and your professional background?
Sure, I'm originally from Mumbai and I have about four years of experience in digital marketing. I
Started out as a content executive then moved into campaign strategy
Most recently I've been leading small projects and managing client communications
Great, that sounds like a well-rounded journey
What led you to pursue a career in digital marketing
I've always enjoyed both creativity and data
Digital marketing gave me the perfect balance working with creative teams while also analyzing numbers and trends
Plus, I love how dynamic the field is. There's always something new to learn
Can you tell me about a campaign or project you're particularly proud of?
definitely
Last year, I worked on a product launch campaign for a skincare brand
I led the strategy for their social media ads and email outreach
We exceeded our conversion goals by 40% in the first month and the client was thrilled
It taught me a lot about a B testing and audience targeting
That's impressive. Sounds like you're comfortable with both strategy and execution
Yes, I try to be hands-on with everything
I believe having an understanding of the full funnel helps make better decisions
What attracted you to this role specifically and to our company?
Well, I followed your brand's work for a while. I
Really admire your focus on ethical marketing and storytelling
when I read the job description it felt like a natural fit with my skill set and
I'm especially excited about the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams
That's great to hear
Collaboration is a big part of our culture
Exactly. I find that working with diverse teams pushes you to grow faster and think differently
If I asked your previous manager to describe you in three words, what do you think they'd say?
I'd say reliable curious and adaptable
Strong combination and what's a professional challenge you faced and how did you handle it?
Earlier in my career. I struggled with time management
Especially when juggling multiple deadlines
But I started using project tracking tools and learned to break tasks into smaller pieces
It made a big difference and now I even help newer teammates with planning. How do you typically handle feedback? I
Welcome it. I believe feedback is one of the fastest ways to improve whether it's positive or critical
I try to stay open and ask clarifying questions so I can apply it next time
That's a great mindset, what's your ideal working environment?
I enjoy a collaborative space where people feel comfortable sharing ideas at the same time
I like having focus hours to dive deep into work without too many interruptions
Where do you see yourself in the next two three years?
I'd love to grow into a team lead role
Mentoring others and driving bigger strategies. I also want to keep learning
Maybe even take a certification in brand psychology or behavioral marketing
That's very forward-thinking. We actually support team members with upskilling. So that aligns well, it's great to hear
It's exactly the kind of support. I'm looking for in a workplace
Well, Jay, this has been a lovely conversation
Thank you for your thoughtful answers
Thank you, Emma. I really appreciate the warm tone. It felt more like a conversation than an interview
That's what we aim for
Before we wrap up. Do you have any questions for me?
Yes. What does success look like in this role during the first 90 days?
Great question. In the first 90 days, we'd expect you to get familiar with our tools and team structure
Support ongoing campaigns and gradually take ownership of one project
We also encourage new joiners to share fresh ideas from day one
That sounds exciting. Thank you for the clarity
My pleasure. We'll be in touch soon with next steps
Looking forward to it. Thanks again
