The Warriors defeated the Lakers, 89-84 tonight in Golden State. Isaiah Mobley contributed a team-high 13 points to go with 3 assists 2 rebounds and 2 steals, with Jackson Rowe of the Warriors adding an additional 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3P) and 8 rebounds in the game. Cole Swider finished with a team-high 24 points (6 3PM) along with 8 rebounds for the Lakers in the losing effort. The Warriors improve their record to 1-0 with the win, while the Lakers fall to 0-1.
For goal of the state, the opening tip tapped away by Trey Jemison, and it's controlled by the Warriors.
Here's Armstrong. Mobley.
Lakers very physical on the perimeter. Jackson Rowe to Mobley. Middle of the floor, back cut by Rowe, to the rim.
Nicely done. Got into Cole Swider.
Now on the attack, Baisley. Baisley gets it out on the wing. Ethan Taylor with a jumper. It's good.
Tim, that's a nice move by Baisley, a big.
Steps middle. Pump fake. Goes up. Lost the ball. Turnover. Swider kicked it out of the way.
R.J. Davis. Ball rotated to the corner. The jumper is true on the wing that time for Shulabhari Rice.
Davis gets a handoff back after the inbounds to Julian Reese.
Here's Davis. Penetrates. Looks for Reese, who goes up and scores.
Boy, that was through traffic.
Hesitation.
Got the scoop to fall. Nice move. Very nice. Left hand.
And we're not going to see
Marshalonis or James for L.A.
Tuohy and Richard won't play for Golden State, but Coleman Hawkins will, and he hits about 25. Apparently it was not a foul.
Shackelford. Three ball. Got it. Oh, with a buzzer sounding. Nice.
Of course, two out of their last three from three. The float game for Davis. Look at that. Well done.
Taylor. Off balance. One-hander.
Cleared out by DeHenson from Bolden. Henson. Nice move. Just froze the defender and finished at the cup.
Fouls to play with in each quarter.
And the first game they used them all. Long jumper up top. That is D.J. Stewart
showing some range.
First player at double figures. He's got 12.
Behind the line, and it rolls up and in.
And that can't find the range.
Stewart makes the extra pass, a pump fake, and a tough shot and finish inside.
DeJuan Gordon.
What a move.
Mobley.
All the way in. High off the glass, and all of a sudden shots are starting. Or you could say, holy Mobley.
Stewart with the spin. It's up and good.
D.J. Stewart. Penetration and the dish. And the corner three is true again for Gordon.
Lobbed into Mobley up top. Good crossover dribble. Has a little bit of an angle. Inside hand.
Bounce pass, nice, and Bernard has to run it down. Goes up strong.
Back-to-back buckets for Golden State, and they trail by six.
Hands off. Swider. Off balance, off glass.
Armstrong to Bernard.
Three ball.
Above the break.
Percentage is starting to climb now into the 30s after an ice-cold first quarter.
Swider. Step back. It's up. It's good.
Gordon with a rebound.
That half-court, a steal.
Armstrong. Lobbed for Rowe. Layup good, and a foul.
Hounded all night long by the LA Defenders. Good crossover. Finds the open man, Shackelford. Extra pass to Rowe.
Boy, that's really a nice job changing sides of the floor.
Good screen by Jemison.
Still a steal by Rowe. Oh, what a pass that was. Shackelford back, and a dunk for Manning.
So first of all, you get the hand, Saint, and look at this pass. Yeah, terrific.
Half-court bounce pass.
Big guy making a beautiful drop pass for the dunk. It's
just terrific.
It's well, well. Stewart's stripped and stolen by Armstrong.
He throws ahead to Rowe. Backward again to Manning, who this time
kissed it off the window.
Nice job.
Jemison.
Swider. Nailed it.
Take the ball up.
Shackelford open right corner. Golden State move the ball down the floor quickly. It pays off.
You know, there's an art to drifting without the ball, and boy, the Warriors are really getting in good spots.
There's our man against Stewart.
Rowe, left corner, Shackelford, Armstrong, Mobley with a touch.
Into a big man little move there. Turning left shoulder
to the cutter. It's Shackelford. Shackelford locked up.
Shot clock at three in the corner. Mobley. Got it. Three ball, left corner, pocket.
All right, guys, here we go. Again, in the NBA, you got to respect shooting. You can't pinch in from the corner.
Baisley.
Goes one on one here. Can't get it done.
A dribble, drive, and a floater. No good, but there's Baisley to follow it up as Rice couldn't get it to fall.
Swider. Bang. There he is.
What do we have here?
Delayed game on a lay. They knocked the ball away after it went through the bucket.
Mobley didn't shoot it, but he'll take it middle.
Gets to his comfort zone with a jump hook.
Rice skipped it over to Taylor. Taylor's open for three. Cash is in.
Henson.
All the way. Hawkins able to convert. Got bodies on the ground here.
Hawkins retrieves it. Cryer to shoot. Got it.
That was deep. Davis back to connect.
Baisley converts. Nice job. Throw the ball back in the pack. There's like eight other guys standing around in there. It's too congested.
Armstrong back to row. Beautifully done.
Mother of Angel Reese of WNBA fame.
Connect. Oh, he slammed it. Oh my goodness.
Well, it had to feel good after not having a good shooting afternoon. Usage of the dribble. Going left.
Take it hard to the rim. Nice job. Here's Henson.
Kreider.
Back to Henson in rhythm for a three.
He had a nice run there at Pitt. He played in this last year. He can shoot the basketball.
Swider can also fill it up.
He's only missed three shots.
Henson hits that.
Boy, that's beautiful stuff. The ball enters to Mobley on the left elbow and he
has the presence to kick it over there. And now we've got connect on a nice finish at the rim.
Play. L.A. can get cooked up here. We've got nine on the shot clock and it's Swider behind the line. He's been on fire all day.
Rowe with a post up. Shot clock at five.
Spins. Goes up. Tough shot.
With two seconds to Shackelford.
Man, oh my goodness. Did you see Armstrong had a big on him?
He's creating plays to your point.
Stewart had a great first half and what a great finish that is. A little floater.
Five-point lead. Boyer's having trouble inbounding the ball. Manna gets it.
Spins down the right side smartly. He's gonna go all the way. Goes in for a dunk. Locked away with eight seconds to go.
The exuberance of youth.
Baisley.
A three.
Nothing there.
And the rebound by Shackelford will end this one.
