#OceanConservation#SaveourOcean#OceanLeadership It would tell us about a powerful current of life flowing from Galápagos to Cocos, Malpelo, and Coiba—an oceanic corridor where marine life moves freely, unaware of national borders. 🌊 This is the Eastern Tropical Pacific: a vibrant network of seamounts, reefs, and migration routes sustaining biodiversity and global climate resilience. Facing challenges like illegal fishing, invasive species, and climate change, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Panama are aligning marine strategies, supported by science, technology, NGOs, and local communities. Together, we are building regional ocean governance and demonstrating the transformative power of collective action. Here, connectivity isn’t just nature’s design—it’s our shared responsibility. When nations act together, our ocean thrives. And so do we. 🌎

What if the ocean could speak?
It would tell you a story about the powerful current of life
that flows from the Galapagos archipelago to the islands of Cocos, Gorgona, Malpelo and Coiba.
It's a living corridor where whales, sharks, turtles and rays cross borders without knowing
they even exist. This is the eastern tropical pacific. It's one of the most biologically rich
and interconnected green regions on earth. From the deep ocean seamounts to vibrant coastal
ecosystems and critical migration routes, this region sustains not only astonishing biodiversity
but also global climate resilience. This region is so much more than a refuge for marine life.
It's becoming a model of international collaboration. In the face of growing threats
from illegal fishing to invasive species and climate change, countries are joining forces.
Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia and Panama are aligning marine protection strategies
backed by scientists, NGOs, donors, indigenous groups and coastal communities.
Through coalitions like the Connect to Protect the Eastern Tropical Pacific,
public and private donors are joining forces to amplify this work.
Accelerating investments in regional science, enforcement and sustainable management.
Together we're aligning conservation priorities and turning science into action. From real-time
vessel tracking to enhanced surveillance and enforcement capacity across the region
to biosecurity controls, regional data sharing and joint patrols. These efforts are driven by
cutting-edge research that spans coastal habitats to the depths of open ocean.
We're managing and strengthening marine protected areas not in isolation but in unison. At the heart
of this effort, our mission is clear. To protect biodiversity, to secure sustainable fisheries,
build ocean governance at a regional scale and inspire global model of regional conservation.
It's not just about how much we protect towards achieving the 30 by 30. It's about where,
how we do it. This means focusing on the areas that matter the most for biodiversity,
climate change and livelihoods. This is what ocean leadership looks like.
Because here in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, connection is not just nature's design. It is
our collective responsibility. When nations act together, the ocean has a chance to thrive.
And so do we.
