are off on a food tour we're meeting a guy later we found his account on Instagram and he offers these foods tours of South Korea we're gonna find all the best food available in the area some stuff this YouTube channel thank you it's very fun I found a way to vlog and three with us we're heading for some food now we know it we expecting to have a lot of food this evening we're not going to eat too much now but Mike made a good point I'm like the Spyro buffet you have to put some food in your stomach so that you are able to eat more later but if we just starve ourselves now we'll have one mill later and be like yeah undone so we need to eat a little bit beforehand before we get to this later but I don't think it's just food later I think it's strength as well you take your hands that you've ordered a nice warm water it's comfortable yeah but when you're out in the freezing cold and you put your ice-cold hand your ice cold lifeless freezing hands if your warm water it's looking for someone to eat now and there's a few Korean restaurants here with high rating and we do a lot of our research the restaurants on Google Maps because we can't get some most effective way to find somewhere that's good we often before we started doing that would just turn up at a place I think the menu looks going to eat and also be a little bit disappointed so we like to do a little bit every search box beforehand now there's not room for two people on here and a camera Jorge story trying out setting new today guys we're trying the autofocus on this camera if you're new to the channel and food science which this time is no quiz there's free ways of preserving food free classic ways of preserving food the one is preserving with salt the other way is preserving with sugar the third one is preserving with Heath that like the traditional way to do it but there are two more versions that are less natural preserving with preservatives chemicals the ugly stuff that we don't like to eat and then there's the king of preserving which is fermentation which is natural safe takes time takes effort takes know-how but also develops labor so wearing money t-shirt today first off anyone knows who these two people are let me know cuz I just bought it because I thought it looked funny Matilda Matilda and Leon have no idea our first stop this isn't the food tour yet we're meeting the guy later on but we needed some food one thing we've been recommended to have here is Fried Chicken and apparently Korea is known for fried chicken apparently it's very very good here so we've come to place called chicken and beer once again some local bitters for local beers keep drinking at the moment before we came here I said South Korea it's going to be very bluesy did sailor there's going to be a little bit more boozy than than South Korea the next country that we have visits so still-secret see on the channel but I saw an Instagram story from a fellow travel blogger blogger blogger say that the people they loved to go out after work for drinks it's mostly men hanging out drinking cool so once we finish the readapt we can go look very good fried chicken Wow I said thank you to John my hands are tied I'm trying to work cross the bridges that ha my only way heading out now to our food tour we thought we might have to get the Train apparently the public transport here is very good and reliable hopefully we'll get a chance to check it out one day tomorrow okay but we discovered that the place we're meeting is actually in walking distance of our hotel so and when we can see more cool the rain stopped at where the rain has stopped its is it we're meeting someone called Mike it's gonna get very confusing because they see Mike so if we say Mike they might both and it's someone I found on Instagram who does like food to us here but I don't think it was like your normal food tour you go from place to place trying the food I think it's like food drink a bit of history of the place kind of there's a rooftop bar going through and also like a big drinking tent as well this love might get a little bit messy later on pre-warning and his Instagram name I put it here it's it's all good like it's all good through my soul and it's so good so good sound words that I will avoid meeting him and yep having a local show us around the places we're good nice [Music] we just met Mike who's gonna show us around no I'm like another Mike walking into this market here which looks really really cool and luckily it's undercover so we're not gonna get too well history of the market first so basically this is quasi market one of the biggest food markets that we have in Seoul market actually dates back to 1905 when King Kong decided to open up a food market and during that time we're under Japanese rule so they decided to take over the market which we know today as and I'm doing in market which is just south of us right here so in reaction to the seizure of that market a punch of local merchants and investors decided to pull their money together and start the function corporation so they pulled together about a hundred dollars which was equal which is equal to about fifteen million dollars today so they took that money and they open up a new market which we know is who name and market right over there basically separated the markets in 1962 and so when Emma market which is still over there and once our market here so this market became the first that was open every day and still is it's open 7 days a week 365 days of the year this is where you can basically find anything from clothes bedding silk groceries food obviously so much was just telling us that there's a load of different food that we're going to be trying today there's a very very popular pancake place here all this pancake Valley this is the absolute it was really busy bustling it's very very exciting to get some of this stuff [Music] so one thing we do have the opportunity to try is live octopus you do that but it's technically is pretty much like Mike was just explaining that they they chop it up live and because the muscles are still moving it's so much like it's alive when you're eating it so don't know who's going to be brave enough out of us to try first I think it's time for Nellie in Georgia Stephanie [Laughter] all day thing the fresh food you made in front of us and the seats here are also heated this place stays open all year round heated seats one is a bit colder they just give you this tea that you pour yourself until you mention cups or tire I don't usually like I'm gonna try this now my name is when she was making it it's all very rough so you can see here this isn't a shape you expect the noodle to be in it's just literally she's mad she's flattening the dough rolls it out at the rolling pin and then turns it with our hands which I love it's a sort of grass flavored still there but it doesn't look past it was great that is so great it's like very salty it tastes like kind of our dente pastures the consistency the texture delicious and very warming again two different types of dumpling hair they've both got pork inside but this is like the pork one this is commercial one try I'll try the pork first we do every one of each with a little bit of this dipping sauce which is a soy sauce and some vinegar and some other things chili seeds maybe okay we had done things last night they were delicious these are my mouth's waterin kind talk apparently the best of the marker tonight is the delicious Wow dubbing it chopsticks aren't my native so the great thing about this little toy on is it's completely customizable it's not like you go around and it's like try that it's like if you want to try it and it's really sexy which is great this is a set that wears is sweet very clear that we can try it's one of the favorite drinks we're trying when mr. chair between the four of us and it's only 1000 won which is about one dollar so it's quite easy to know the currency know of what the conversion is it's pretty much like 1,000 is $1 nice and easy we're going to try it now it looks good if they do it in this little barrel okay oh that's really good it's a bit milk to you really sweet yeah Braithwaite the no bits of Ryan's nice bit of texture is good can you like that 3p sample different types of traditional side dishes most of this stuff is all fermented you guys want to try anything you guys can just take a little toothpick and then taste to take a little taste of anything that you guys would like [Music] we have here something outside here really long they give people with these stools to sit on whilst they wait for it but apparently it's worth the way and Mike was telling us this market isn't just for food you can get all sorts of things here clothes bed linen jewelry pretty much anything you want you can get so you travel with quite a few different countries in Asia where they have like fun snacks delicacies like we tried to scorpions in Thailand it plays about from Cambodia and Vietnam I've been here they only have one of me and it's a silkworm larvae just down here and apparently which surprised me it's like saying that kids like to eat but for me as a kid I'd be like one more eating about I don't know I can't imagine I feel like some people [Music] so they're getting really nervous today's the day we're trying a life octopus and I don't know if you saw any of the viral videos on Facebook YouTube whatever we have been octopus moving around next to mouth power mesh net so normally when you shake it shaking like this and then you get like it's a little tornado so we get that little tornado going you open it up and then you're supposed to do this to it to basically get the sediment out of the so it's you so supposing when you do that it prevents hangovers which I don't know whether that's true or not but so here we have the live octopus kind of going idle and then kind of spoke at it and start moving again so oh wait yeah does this do meet you if ever there was a time for boomerang you'll love the strong tag oh yeah all right let's try gonna leave it in for the world it might go for this much okay the beef moving as well we can move it the beefs alive the beef my crew leave it anymore [Music] that's almost as bad as Nellie's food review okay just swallowed that that's fine I'll tell you what was weird as soon as I put it in my mouth I was expecting it to lapped onto my tongue it latched onto the roof of my mouth sucking off how did you get with difficulty me I'm trying to pull it down with my tongue oh wow you have to try the taste is good this oil is really really nice little bit chewy but it's nice but as soon as you kind of touch it everything starts squeaking and moving look this one latched onto my stick straightaway so everything starts moving again look at this bad boy your turn you see one I'm just gonna go for small bits we get wet I'm a little bit guesses in first round then the person with the cap passes the drink but after the first round the person who guesses number a string there's a guy down there with the face of Gordon Ramsay like trying some food the little girls mister turns out he's lying and the actual source on this way I've been he's using a photo of a stool for seven minutes piece is automatic came here like some of these that we yeah alley now I'm finally trying the earth and I think it's nope of one beam it looks really good it looks very very fried and oily to Alicia thank you very much Thomas oh it smells really good smells I've been through way too hot give me a few seconds in right now [Music] that is really good so often with fryer to start it tastes to like to fried to oily but this is what they are mung beans down the middle according to the vegetable we actually know it really makes it and then it gets all creamy I'll be trying some rice rice wine bans rice beer right that's right Bryce Bayer and it consists of rice again it's another for Tony only takes four hours to make and you can take on the same day and you don't drink our glasses you drink out of a bowl what's a big bowl that's what's right that's right yeah so you typically drink it out of holes because this was one of the wow it's super cold oh yeah super comes nice refreshing does actually taste like beer so I just did this with a pair of chopsticks which is apparently bad luck okay get some of this [Music] very good [Music] exactly like what we have the other day in our in our big meal the other day by the new it's like mochi yeah are two different people they were to me one of them works pretty well the other ones I feel are a little too commercialized telling us because Korea their tastes have the number one record of amount an amount of shots drank they drink a lot basically so they have these hangover drinks and hangover pills he reckons the drinks work better and there's also no rules about drinking on the street there so we can grab a couple of beers walk along the road have a drink and then and then get some hangover drinks for tomorrow about the alcohol right here so basically this is probably like the most commercialized one this is one that everybody drinks just grab some craft beer of a big fan craft beer craft ale especially in England fine selection everywhere we go a great little micro pub near where we live called the Brooks detail house which is pretty much waiting five most of our family at all times but we're gonna crack open this now give it a go Wow that relaxes me straight away that is delicious very very nice so you've come watch this rooftop now and you can see like the old part of so here and then all the modern part here so you're caught you don't have to pay to come there that's like why I drink it's not a bar and I think it's literally just a lift up up some steps and there's no one here but you just have some same view everywhere like 360 which is it's so cool yeah [Music] this is so cool Mike was telling us that even Koreans don't know that you can come to this place there's no one here there's no one here at all we've got this full energy outdoor this place came completely out of nowhere we thought the night was pretty much over this is insane let's have a look behind me here all the way all the way down that road hundreds of hundreds of people you can even hear it from the street we've been walking through very very quiet streets and out of nowhere I have no way you get this how crazy never expected this [Music] our final had the best evening with Mike and with Mike with Nellie and Lucy it's been a lot of fun love we've learned a lot about the culture the area the food has been delicious we drank a lot of beer just had an overall good night so you have to mix it up to basically make it lighter makes it easier to drink so Mac which is really amazing surprisingly actually tastes like a garlic and the two on their own
